Good News for McCain/Palin '08 !!!

I was just watching the BreitBart interview with Gateway Pundit - who is the blogger who was responsible for exposing the refusal of the LA Times to release a video that shows Obama at a party with radicals like Ayers and Khalidi. When I was finished with that, I noticed a new post at Gateway:

It is verified over at Drudge!

Update on 11/02/08 at 5:48 a.m. PT -

Obviously, my YouTube access has been restored.

My Digg friend, John Kubicek, suggested that perhaps it was "site maintenance" that was going on. However, I haven't heard of anyone else having a problem with embedded YouTube videos at their blogs last night.

I would not know how to check this out - other than if some of my friends come over here and tell me that the same thing happened to them last night.

I still think it was highly suspicious...

Google had suspended some of the Hillary supportors (PUMA blogs) right after Obama was ILLEGALLY GIVEN (IMO) the Democratic primary victory. It took several days for their blogs to be restored. Many of them fled to WordPress and other blog support sites.

I have a WordPress blog, but I don't use it much....yet. If need be, I will transfer over there one day.

[Thanks John - for stopping by and letting me know that the videos have been restored.]

One more thing. When "maintenance" is done at Blogger, we usually get a warning. Plus, I am usually able to sign-on and view my Dashboard -even during the maintenance periods. In the YouTube situation last night, the embed videos first said, "This video is no longer available." Then, the embed link went completely blank and there was only a square white spot on my blog. Each time I would do a search, I couldn't log onto the YouTube site - AT ALL!

I still think that this is all very highly suspicious.

Accommodations in College

Everyone~

Okay, so I'm back from my weekend trip with my mother. The weekend was busy and quite demanding for both of us. I'm still recovering; as a result, Friday's post is not going to be a big one.

If you've been reading my blog for a long time, you've heard me talk a lot about my experiences in college- how they helped to make me the person I am today. Going to college on my own wasn't without its difficulties especially having a disability. Here is yet another article featuring things to consider before taking this huge step of independence.

The article can be located at:

Freedom Is Worth It

Dear Mr. Obama -
A video of an Iraq veteran is YouTube's most watched election video, generating 11 million views.

Update: Apparently, my YouTube account has been cancelled and I am banned from the site! This video is no longer available.

Blogment Of The Day

A heated conversation from this previous thread deserves a post all its own. It has been quite a while since I have posted a "blogment." Welp...today's the day. To catch up on the conversation, go to this link and read the comments. I have brought just the last three over here:

As for Mike, he kind of reminds me of Sylvester Stallone in Rocky before he got his head on straight. He could have been a decent fighter, but instead he settled for being a bone breaker for loan sharks. Mike could have been a decent intellect. Instead he sold his integrity to peddle lies. So tragic.

that was pretty cutting, gary.

but it's become quite clear to me that God has used this election to reveal the current state of Christians and the Christian church as being as far removed from what Jesus intended for today as the pharisees were from Him in His day.

to fail to see how "He associates with sinners and prostitutes" isn't the spitting image of "he hangs out with known terrorists" is past unbelievable to the point of being embarrassing ... for you.

and not to get too silly, but the similarity between the exchange of Jesus and the pharisees in John 8 and the lying accusations that you all throw up here time and again about obama is so perfect you could hold it up to a light and see the same outline.

no, he's not the messiah. but he's much closer to being the right man at the right time than the antichrist figure you all paint him as. and just to be a fly on the wall when you stand before God and say either 'well, they were saying the same things, too' or 'but i read it on the internet!' ... like the mastercard commercial says, that would be priceless.

carry on in your bitterness and naysaying. just stay out of the way while america tries to heal. as you see the times change, you're quite welcome to come alongside everyone else - and no one will say anything like 'i told you so.' we'll take grant at Appomattox as our example ... or maybe Jesus when he felt sorry for the smelly, stinking sheep, knowing that in the end they were simply without a shepherd.

Mike,

You'll pardon me if I discount your comments on the state of the church. I'm not necessarily denying the assessment as it pertains to some quarters, but rather your ability to assess its condition in a reasonable light. As for the lying reference, as usual you have it wrong. My comment was not directed at Obama for being a liar, but toward you for peddling it. In your Mike Rucker Press article you give a lengthy, somewhat impassioned discussion of the benefits of Obama's proposed economic policy. It would be inspired were it not for one thing: It is entirely predicated on a lie.

You start out by stating that it appears that Obama is asking those with more means to contribute more to the less fortunate. We both know that's a lie though, don't we? He isn't asking. He is telling. He is trying to convince a majority of people to vote for him with the promise that he will take money from others and give it to them. Since that's the case, it isn't generosity, is it? I mean, let's face it: If the left really considered paying lots of money in taxes then they would already be saluting the successful people who pay far more of a percentage of their income. I'll make a deal with you Mike: Show me Christ said that it was good to steal from one man to give to another and I'll vote for Obama.

The argument is generally that they are only being asked to pay their fair share, but for some reason they never seem to give a good number of what that is. I'm nowhere near the the magic "250K" income figure, but I figure that between all of the taxes I pay it amounts to about 40% of my income to the government. That's getting close to half of every hour I work going to someone else. Who is Obama and who are you to say that I'm not already paying my fair share, especially since, unlike Obama, I contribute regularly to charity.

You and your guy are promoting envy, Mike. Coveting. The left can't stand the idea that someone might have something they don't, so they're reaching out to someone who claim's they'll take it away. And five years from now when socialism works its magic and the economy is in the toilet and everyone on the left is still bitter they'll all be thinking it wasn't supposed to turn out this way.

Your way won't heal the nation, Mike. If it could, Russia and China would have been well a long time ago.

My comment:

Mike,

You are being very nasty. You are an ill-informed, Biblically illiterate, unregenerate sinner. You deny the true Person of Jesus Christ and His Word, the Bible. You continually display your misunderstanding of what it means to be a true Christian. We are not perfect, just forgiven by a God who is perfect.

The documented evidence of Obama that has been posted at this blog is the truth. You do not wish to see it or acknowledge it. So be it. You choose to wear your blinders...right into spiritual, intellectual, physical and emotional oblivion.

YOU will have to answer to God one day for your rejection of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. In the end, THAT is the only thing that will matter in eternity.

One day, this temporary world of existence - that you cling to for your own brand of "hope" and "change" - will fall to dust and blow away.

Our only hope rests in Jesus Christ alone!

The Cross of Christ for salvation from our sins and the empty tomb of His resurrection to life shows us many things.

1. The huge and ultimate cost for our sin.
2. The mercy, forgiveness and grace of God to give us THE WAY (Jesus Christ) back to reconciliation with Holy God.
3. The ultimate hope rests in God alone - and in Jesus Whom He has sent to rescue us from ourselves.
4. The fact that Jesus is preparing a place for us - so that as the Scriptures inform "where He is, there we will be also."
5. The two questions God asks us while we are still in this world -

(a.) Who do you say that I (Jesus) am?
(b.) What have you done in your life to tell others about the gospel of salvation? (Jesus' last commandment - The Great Commission.)
(c.) Jesus said to us, "If you love Me, keep my commandments." This requires obedience.

Just whom do you obey, Mike?

When people put their trust in other people (I don't care who it is!), then they are bound to be disappointed. Those who put their trust in Jesus Christ will be victorious - no matter what happens here on this earth.

Just whom do you trust, Mike?

We are to love each other - as imperfect as we all are - because God has commanded us to do so. However, He doesn't say to NOT fight against evil, corruption, and sin. Using the truth of God's Word, I call it as I see God's revelation of it. And Obama is filled with (and actively using) all three vices.

Our Lord wants us to proclaim truth and dispel deception. He has already warned us that the truth will offend.

When I get discouraged or worried about this election (and, there is A LOT to be concerned about) I turn to Scripture for comfort during the storm.

Psalm 1 speaks of being absorbed in God's Word and to be in prayer for what concerns us. Paul's prayer for the Philippian church reiterates this:

And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in real knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve the things that are excellent, in order to be sincere and blameless until the day of Christ; having been filled with the fruit of righteousness which comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God (Philippians 1:9-11)

Scripture also tells us to approve that which is excellent and holy, and to reprove that which is ungodly.

Favorite verses to live by:

Col 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

2Ti 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

How apropos is the next verse regarding your postings here, Mike (yeah..the truth hurts sometimes)

2Ti 2:16 But shun profane [and] vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.

Sorry Mike - your true nature is being exposed here at this blog. Real Christians can recognize what you are all about.

Of course, we will continue to pray for you. However, it does not mean that we won't expose you for what you believe and how it often counters the truth of God's Word.

James has good advice for all believers when encountering non-believers/skeptics/agnostics/atheists:

Jam 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all [men] liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

Jam 1:6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.

Jam 1:7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.

Jam 1:8 A double minded man [is] unstable in all his ways.

You see Mike, we are alert to your schemes:

1Pe 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and [be] ready always to [give] an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

1Pe 3:16 Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.

I care deeply about Christ - and I care immensely about America. I am willing to stick my neck out to expose the lies that have been drummed into the consciousness of our culture over the past 30 to 40 years. This may invoke ridicule (and often does) but God's Word tells me to use my gifts and talents that He has given me. On this blog, I have dedicated myself to dismantling the lies - precisely because my confidence is found in Christ alone.

You see, I understand the lies that are being thrown around in our culture and through God's grace and the leading of the Holy Spirit, I have obtained a good enough command of the truth that dispels such lies. The absolute truth is found nowhere else but in God's Word!

Jhn 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, [then] are ye my disciples indeed;

Jhn 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

When one is set free, he/she is free indeed!

No longer does a saved believer ever desire to go back to the bondage of the lie.

Why?

Because Jesus' promise is worth EVERYTHING!

Jhn 8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

Yes, Barack Obama really is a Manchurian candidate

Why do so many reject a genuine war hero with decades of experience, one whose pro-life, limited-government values pretty much reflect those of Middle America. Instead, these same countrymen are enthralled with a man who not only has no experience or qualifications for the job, but who is, in fact, the most radically left-wing major-party nominee..

Ebola Island

Galveston National Laboratory

The New York Times paid a visit this week to a national biological defense lab. Scientists there will “do research into some of the nastiest diseases on the planet, among them Ebola, anthrax, tularemia, West Nile virus, drug-resistant tuberculosis, bubonic plague, avian influenza and typhus.”

If that isn't fascinating enough, the lab's “gleaming new building” happens to be located in one of the most unstable types of landform and where hurricanes regularly make a mess of things: the barrier island of Galveston, Texas.

Built atop concrete pylons driven 120 feet into the ground, the seven-floor laboratory was designed to stand up to 140-mile-an-hour winds. Its backup generators and high-security laboratories are 30 feet above sea level.

Says the lab's deputy director, “The entire island can wash away and this is still going to be here.”

A gleaming biological bunker, as impenetrable and monolithic as CIA HQ, a Pandora Box protruding out in a landscape of ruins and shifting sands.

Perhaps the next lab will be on an oil rig?

Who Groomed Barack Obama?

Recall that not very much was shared during the video introduction of Obama at the DNC Convention. Not much has been brought up (in the media) about his university and Harvard Law School years, either.

Personally, I thought that was very strange at the time. Don't most people who have succeeded in such endeavors usually share their stories of accomplishment and hard work - wholeheartedly - with anyone willing to listen and learn about it? You would think that someone running for POTUS would be anxious to share the details of their life story. But not Obama. Much of his past is "off limits" to any questioning.

Why?

Perhaps the following article may explain why his university and law school years have been kept under the radar screen during this campaign.

Who Groomed Barack Obama?

From: Traditional Values Coalition

New reports show that Barack Obama’s Harvard Law School experience was enabled by a group of black racists with connections to Saudi Islamists. What do they want from him now?

October 29, 2008– Percy Sutton, the former attorney for Black Muslim leader Malcolm X, has described how he helped Barack Obama enter Harvard Law School. Sutton did so on the advice of radical Muslim Khalid al-Mansour, an advisor to a Saudi Prince and two Saudi billionaires. Al-Mansour has been involved with the Saudis ever since in promoting stealth Jihad in America and promoting Wahhabi extremism. (Sutton is a former Manhattan borough president and a candidate for Mayor of New York in 1977.)

Sutton described his role in helping Obama on New York cable channel NY1. He told reporter Dominic Carter: “I was introduced to (Obama) by a friend who was raising money for him.”

“The friend’s name is Dr. Khalid al-Mansour, from Texas. He is the principal advisor to one of the world’s richest men. He told me about Obama.”

According to Sutton, al-Mansour approached him and asked him to write a letter of support for Obama’s application to Harvard Law School where Sutton still had contacts. “The question is why would al-Mansour help Barack Obama get into Harvard?” said TVC Executive Director Andrea Lafferty. “What was it about Obama that caused a radical black nationalist to push his career?”

Investor’s Business Daily has rightly asked if Obama owes his Harvard Law School career to the Saudis – through al-Mansour: “What did this radical extremist see in young Barack Obama that he would seek to sponsor and perhaps finance Obama's education? Obama says he paid his way solely through student loans. How did they meet? Where did the money he raised come from?”

Who Is Al-Mansour And Why Was He Raising Money For Obama?

Al-Mansour, whose real name is Don Warden, is a notorious black nationalist, radical Muslim and a sworn enemy of Israel and Christianity. A video has surfaced recently of one of his tirades against Jews and Christians. In a speech given in South Africa, al-Mansour said: “Today, the Palestinians are being brutalized like savages. If you protest you will go to jail and you may be killed. And they say they are the only democratic country in the Middle East. … They are lying to God.”

In 1995, al-Mansour wrote The Lost Books Of Africa Rediscovered. In it, he claims that the United States was plotting genocide against African-Americans.

According to the Social Activism Project at the University of California, Berkeley, al-Mansour was a mentor/advisor to Black Panther Party founder Huey Newton and Bobby Seale – both violent criminals. In fact, al-Mansour helped establish the Black Panther Party but broke with the group when it began working with white revolutionaries.

Al-Mansour has preached hatred against whites for decades. He has:

*Told African-Americans that “whatever you do to [white people] they deserve it, God wants you to do it and that’s when you cut out the nose, cut out the ears, take flesh out of their body, don’t worry because God wants you to do it.”

*Claimed that Palestinians in Israel “are being brutalized like savages.”

*Has accused the Jews of “stealing the land the same way the Christians stole the land from the Indians in America.

*Accused the U.S. of plotting to remove 15 million African-Americans because the government doesn’t consider blacks to be of any economic value to the nation.

NewsMax reporter Ken Timmerman notes that in 1989, just a year after Obama entered Harvard Law School, the Los Angeles Times revealed that al-Mansour had been serving as an advisor to Saudi billionaires Abdul Azis and Khalid al-Ibrahim in their secret effort to acquire ocean-front property in Marina del Ray, California.

Prince Alwaleed tin Talal Connection

Al-Mansour was also advising Prince Alwaleed tin Talal. The prince is considered the 19th richest person in the world. It was Talal who offered New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani $10 million after the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Centers. Giuliani refused the offer after Talal suggested that America’s policies had brought about the 9/11 attack. Talal has a record of supporting radical Islamic causes. In April, 2002 he donated $27 million during a Saudi telethon for families of suicide bombers. He has given money to the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and has funded the distribution of pro-Islam books to American libraries.

He has also used his billions to buy shares in American media outlets so he can influence what Americans see and read about Islam. Talal owns shares of News Corp, which owns Fox News, Coca-Cola, Ford, McDonald’s, Amazon.com, Disney, Time Warner and other American businesses.

"It is clear that al-Mansour has helped Talal buy influence in America – and that influence can be used to spread Wahhabism here,” said Lafferty. “Does al-Mansour expect a payback from Obama if he is elected President of the United States? How will Obama help the cause of Islam if elected?” A video of Barack Obama shows him expressing support for Islam: Obama claims he is a leader on Muslim relations

Just In Time for Sweeps or Halloween

The Return of KXAN
Just in Time for Sweeps

KXAN TV (NBC) and sister station KNVA (CW) are back on Time Warner Cable on their former channels.

KXAN TV’s owner, LIN TV, announced today that they had signed retransmission contracts with Time Warner Cable allowing them to carry LIN stations’ analogue and digital signals nationwide. LIN operates 17 stations in a dozen markets where Time Warner is the major cable TV carrier. This means that Lin's separate digital channels will also find homes in slots on TWC.

“We are pleased to have reached a fair market agreement with Time Warner Cable,” said LIN TV’s President and Chief Executive Officer Vincent L. Sadusky in the news release. “This agreement, which represents a mutually acceptable economic agreement between the parties, is further indication of the value of our television stations.”

That’s a big deal. LIN had been seeking compensation of some type. TWC had been trying to avoid setting a costly precedent in the settlement which could have far-reaching effect for future negotiations with other stations.

The bitter struggle laced with ugly assertions on both sides has been no doubt costly over the past month. And the repercussions of the stalemate may be felt in the November sweeps that start tomorrow, October 30th. The TV stations must have struggled with ad sales. LIN stock (TVL) had dropped from an initial purchase price of $22 to an all-time low of $2.02. The stock is up slightly. Meantime, angry TWC customers sought alternatives in droves. Satellite providers said they were installing as fast as they could in Austin. The same was true of Texas-based Grande Communications whose spokesman said, “We can’t build it fast enough.” The biggest winner may be AT&T’s U-verse, but it, like Grande, is not available everywhere in the market.

All of this is like a TV signal now—It’s here, and it’s gone (Unless you have a DVR).

The news now is that this coming November sweeps period may be the most interesting since 1995 when KTBC TV swapped networks with what became KEYE TV. Why? For the past month, many KXAN TV cable viewers have been sampling other local stations’ newscasts. The “soft” audience, those viewers who may not be died-in-the-wool KXAN devotees, may have found a new favorite. TV audiences in Austin are fickle, and the “no preference “group is larger here than in most cities. News viewing can be habitual. If something breaks the rhythm, people may stray and never come back. It happened in 1995. It was after the network switch that viewers found KXAN, making it #1.

KVUE TV’s Tyler Sieswerda has been waiting for a new co-anchor. Terri Gruca should be settling in soon. But, she is unknown to the Austin audience.

I’m thinking that the station that could benefit the most is KEYE TV. KEYE TV has been stable. Judy Maggio and Ron Oliveira have been rock steady. Meantime, Katie Couric may have found her voice with the Sarah Palin interviews. Further, the KEYE TV web site (
www.keyetv.com) has been arguably the best in town.

But, this week, the stars aligned for LIN TV locally: Leslie Cook Rhode returned to anchor with Robert Hadlock after five years in Washington D.C. She seemed very much at home with friends Jim Spencer and Roger Wallace. KXAN also put up a new and truly improved web site (
www.kxan.com) as we foretold earlier this month. Now, KXAN is back on TWC.

So, my battle of the #1 anchor teams is set to begin just in time for Halloween. Trick or treat, indeed.

Ayer's Prairie Fire

If you are one of the nine people left in the world who happen to think that Obama's ties with the unrepentant domestic terrorists - William Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn - don't really matter in this election, then you are definitely not paying close enough attention, The details about Ayer's and Dohrn's past are described at the link below. It makes their connection with Obama quite scary! Does it matter? OF COURSE IT DOES! It matters - A LOT!!

Zombietime has written an extensive essay about it at her blog:

William Ayers' forgotten communist manifesto: Prairie Fire

I just scanned through it briefly, but plan to go back and read it all right after I post this. I think it is DEVASTATING PROOF that Obama is not fit to even be a U.S. Senator - no less POTUS!!

Highly disturbing that Obama would have ANY association with such a despicable man...to say the least!!

Also a must see: $25K REWARD FOR Obama/Ayers/Khalidi Tape

"Pretty pathetic that we have to try to bribe "newsmen" to release newsworthy tapes."

Yep! But I think that the fact that they REFUSE to release them means they must be VERY DAMAGING to Obama's candidacy. That, alone, may be the turning point away from Obama the radical on election day.

HT: Zombietime

P.S. Be sure to read the comments there, too!

OH MY GOSH!!! When I was copying the link to the comments, I just happened to read the end of the essay. There is a also a video of the undercover agent at Zombie's site.

Here's the transcript part:

Undercover agent Larry Grathwohl, who had infiltrated and joined the Weather Underground, described their post-revolution governing plans for the United States in this video taken from the 1982 documentary "No Place to Hide." The Weather Underground openly discussed exterminating 25 million Americans who refused to be "re-educated" into communism.

Here's a transcript of his interview:

I bought up the subject of what's going to happen after we take over the government. We, we become responsible, then, for administrating, you know, 250 million people.

And there was no answers. No one had given any thought to economics; how are you going to clothe and feed these people.

The only thing that I could get, was that they expected that the Cubans and the North Vietnamese and Chinese and the Russians would all want to occupy different portions of the United States.

They also believed that their immediate responsibility would be to protect against what they called the counter-revolution. And they felt that this counter-revolution could best be guarded against by creating and establishing re-education centers in the southwest, where we would take all the people who needed to be re-educated into the new way of thinking and teach them... how things were going to be.

I asked, well, what's going to happen to those people that we can't re-educate; that are die-hard capitalists. And the reply was that they'd have to be eliminated. And when I pursued this further, they estimated that they would have to eliminate 25 million people in these re-education centers. And when I say eliminate, I mean kill. 25 million people.

I want you to imagine sitting in a room with 25 people, most of which have graduate degrees from Columbia and other well known educational centers, and hear them figuring out the logistics for the elimination of 25 million people.

And they were dead serious."

-- Larry Grathwohl, former member of the Weather Underground

Encouragement: Another October, Another Disability Awareness Month

Everyone,

This is my second annual celebration of Disability Awareness Month in this blog. During this month, the main topics of discussion tend to be about the employment of people with disabilities as well and as the general understanding that needs to occur among American Society in regards to disabilities. The following is just one article that explores the impact people with disabilities have on employment.

Terrorist Costume = Obama Mask?

OK - this is my last post for the night. One of my new friends over at Digg sent me a shout about this one. It's just too funny!

The liberal nutroot Obamabots started foaming at the mouth over an incident at Amazon. Apparently, when someone put in "terrorist costume" at Amazon, an Obama mask shows up!

You HAVE to read some of the comments about this at Digg. Ha ha ha haaaa! I needed a laugh tonight!

I clicked on the Amazon link, but an Obama mask didn't show up. Instead, there is now a McCain mask for sale under that title! The Obamaborg must have complained (what ELSE IS NEW?) and Amazon did a switcheroo on the mask that pops up under the search.

This is hilarious!

I do recall that history has shown that the most masks sold of one of the presidential contenders is usually the winner of the election that year! We shall see if that phenomenon actually holds up after this election. Could be an interesting bit for trivia buffs...

Good Night!

We Need Redistribution Of This Story!

Dear Friends,

We need redistribution of this story - Hurry Up To Ensure That All Waitstaff Vote For McCain from Neil's Eternity Matters blog!

Here's a copy of the post:

Today on my way to lunch I passed a homeless guy with a sign that read ‘Vote Obama, I need the money.’ I laughed.

Once in the restaurant my server had on a ‘Obama 08′ tie, again I laughed as he had given away his political preference–just imagine the coincidence.

When the bill came I decided not to tip the server and explained to him that I was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept. He stood there in disbelief while I told him that I was going to redistribute his tip to someone who I deemed more in need–the homeless guy outside. The server angrily stormed from my sight.

I went outside, gave the homeless guy $10 and told him to thank the server inside as I’ve decided he could use the money more. The homeless guy was grateful.

At the end of my rather unscientific redistribution experiment I realized the homeless guy was grateful for the money he did not earn, but the waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn even though the actual recipient deserved money more.

I guess redistribution of wealth is an easier thing to swallow in concept than in practical application.

It should come as no surprise to conservative Digg members that Digg is run by rabid, liberal left partisan hacks - just like the Media of Mass Deception! One of the biggest stories of the day is Obama Bombshell - Redistribution of Wealth Audio Uncovered.

Yet, even with over 729 diggs (as of 3:54 p.m. PT on 10/27/08) it did not reach the front page. Want to know why?

Take a look at this question sent to Digg management and the reply:

this story here should have made it to the front page as it recieved 477 diggs within 13 hours of it being posted

http://digg.com/2008_us_elections/Obama_Bombshell_ ...

people accuse the site of being partisan, and this doesn't help. is there any technical explanation of how this story is failing to make the front page, or even the "hot in this section"?

so it appears that even with 546 diggs, the obama bury brigade has killed this story, and it won't even show up on a search.

Yep...once again, Digg's BIAS IS SHOWING!

The Impact of Disability on Self-Esteem

Welcome Back,

I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend. I will let you know how mine when I return as I am still out in town. But while I'm busy, that does not mean I have left you entirely. The following blog post makes some startling revelations on the impact of disability on self-esteem. Feel free to take a look:

The Supersurface of Architectural Diaspora

The Supersurface of Architectural Diaspora

Like some Nigerian scammer, an article by a London rag baits its readers with this fantastic headline: Pictured: The 1,500-ton Catholic church moved 248ft and rotated 90 degrees to make way for a new road.

When you actually read the half dozen or so sentences, you learn that it wasn't the cathedral that was moved. It wasn't even “part of the church building” but an altogether unattached structure.

However, it's still a very interesting bit of news, more for us because of that circular tracks where it turned 90 degrees.

The Supersurface of Architectural Diaspora

Those tracks will be disassembled soon, if not already. There's a new road to build. But imagine if that wasn't the case. Infilled with paving materials of local variety, they become part of a new plaza instead — the rectory's nomadic past paved into the landscape.

The landscape is its history.

When it rains, water will collect and flow through shallow channels, following the roundabout path the building once took. Perhaps the whole thing is a rainwater harvesting scheme. When dry, little children, arms shoulder high in imitation of airplanes, will run along these grooves imagined as runways.

Parishioners and pedestrians alike will trip on raised bricks. Bruised knees, sprained ankles, cracked skulls. But those who know the history of the site well, those attuned to the vagaries of their own built environment, will not suffer injuries.

But soon no one will remember the story behind the plaza's intricate parterres. Even the tourist guides will have forgotten, telling their weary travelers that it's just one big cardinal compass, the center of which is the city's Kilometre Zero.

Until, of course, a landscape historian comes along and rediscovers its true function, just in time because the rectory has to be moved to make way for a new road.

Later on, the same scholar goes on to make another awesome discovery: Michelangelo's geometric design for the Piazza del Campidoglio wasn't really intended to help systematize the spatial experience of this jumbled corner of the Capitoline hill.

Piazza del Campidoglio

In actuality, the sculptor-sometimes-urban-planner was merely tracing over the leftover transport system used by victorious Roman generals to move architectural spoils during their triumph. It is also the same system co-opted by later popes to move gigantic relics of saints during Jubilee Year.

Misreading his research, some wacko landscape archi-blogger will publish a post with the headline: Illustrated: St. Peter's makes a pilgrimage around Rome during Jubilee Year 1625. The image of Michelangelo's dome sailing through a sea of architecture, through an eternal maelstrom of history, hypnotized him too much to bother re-reading the PDF file for accuracy's sake.

The following day, he'll offer up a theory of his own: it's some weird Freemasonic machine that can control the fabric of space-time, a direct line to God. But the instructions have been lost over the centuries so now it's up to a subsect of Opus Dei, headed by an albino landscape architect to re-learn how to operate it.

Superstudio

In any case, with some exceptions, like N55's insect-like flood-averting Walking House, moving large structures usually takes two routes: on specially laid tracks or on wheels. The latter seems to be the most common, because it provides better maneuverability and has less infrastructural imprint. It's probably cheaper, too.

But wouldn't it be more fascinating if they were all moved via rails, pressed down into the asphalt so as to make them flush with the surface of the road and then left there once the buildings have reached their destinations?

For whatever reasons — perhaps to escape coastal erosion and sea level rise; to join an enclave of Victorian and Queen Anne houses, all refugees from neighborhoods ravaged by generic condominiums; a concerted policy to homogenize neighborhoods into tourist hot spots; or post-oil, post-capitalist, post-interstate American mobility — more buildings are displaced on old and newly-built rails.

Year after year, then decade after decade, this new supersuface of mobility keeps getting added to, continually overlaid with fresh tracks. It becomes so thick that you no longer need to install new lines, because there is enough tracks and junctions to take you anywhere from anywhere.

The Supersurface of Architectural Diaspora

Got a job in another town; need to be with your own creative types in the inner city; or can no longer pay the rent in once affordable city neighborhoods and so must look in the urban hinterlands? Simply jack up your house and plop it into the network.

Gentrification and urban cleansing, white flight, reverse white flight, the mythical creative class, 1960s speculative architecture, 21st century blogger fantasia: all recorded on the landscape.

The Supersurface of Architectural Diaspora

You might need, however, to pick off some asphalt like a dentist to a tartar build-up and fell some trees and uproot some shrubs. Or even temporarily move some buildings out of the way. But you'll eventually get there.

Civilization 3

So expansive will this network become that scientists begin to consider it a new geological stratum: a homo-sedimentary layer of reconstituted iron ores. Future geologists and archaeologists will use it for dating artifacts. So will historians use it to re-trace migrations and reconstruct how cities once looked like.

Like the Public Land Survey System, it demands all landscape architects to answer to it.

Banned Words

Banned Words and Other Things

I watched too many sports events this weekend. The misuse of the English language finally got to me. I am compelled to pull out and rework a screed I posted elsewhere earlier this year.

In a newsroom where I worked, there was an entire wall devoted to banned words and phrases—words or phrases that were over worked, misunderstood, obscure or otherwise. I think all journalists and critical-thinking individuals need to consider the words they use. Yes, the English language is evolving, but is that evolution moving toward clarity?

Look at what text-messaging is doing to our language. LOL.

As a reporter many years ago, I turned in a script to a producer. The producer changed some words violating basic rules of the “King’s English” that we may have been taught in elementary school. I am talking about the subject of a sentence agreeing with the verb in the sentence. Well, I would have none of it. I told him that I would not record the script because I did not want my voice, my signature, on something that was grammatically wrong. He protested saying, “Well, that’s the way that people talk!” I responded saying, “Those that know, notice. Those that do not know, do not notice.” The disagreement went all the way to the news director, and, yes, I won.

I am not saying that I am not guilty of using bad grammar or (more likely) misspelling something. I am saying that it is the responsibility of us in the media—print, web, and broadcast—to use good grammar and avoid trite, cliché, and other over-used words. We only promulgate and validate poor usage when we are lazy and choose to use these incorrect or tattered terms.

So, what set off this language explosion? What put me over the top this weekend? It was the broadcast of the World Series Game Sunday, October 26, 2008. Joe Buck will never hear of this posting or care, but I must get this out of my system. Play-by-play man Joe Buck said:

“We just had a chance to visit with his pitching coach, Jim Hickey, and we’ll play it for you …”

Later in the inning, he said again:

“We had a chance to talk with Jim Hickey, and well bring it to you...”

Later in the game, he said:

“I had a chance the last time I was here in Philadelphia …”

He finally got the usage right later:

Regarding B.J. Upton’s strike out, “He had a chance here in the 7ths inning …”

You get the point. Why not just say, “Why not say, I spoke with whomever?” Or, I visited wherever? The rest is useless, meaningless clutter.

For some reason sportscasters seem to be the worst. Troy Aikman used the hated and feared “I had a chance…” during a football game earlier in the day. This recurring phrase isn’t the only one that drives me nuts.

I shall list of a few that come to mind with some explanation:

> “Centered around” Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!! An argument or anything else cannot be center around something. It may be centered ON something, however.
> “Very unique” If it is unique, it cannot be more than unique.
> “Completely destroyed” If something is destroyed, it is complete.
> “The building suffered major damage…” People suffer; buildings cannot.
> “I would like to thank you for flying X airline.” Well, if you would like to do it, why not just say, “Thank you” and be done with it? (Very similar to “had a chance.”
> “A parent’s worst nightmare…” Fill in the blank.
> From sports: “We overcame adversity.” More often than not, adversity is synonymous with calamity. There is calamity in sports sometimes, but most of the time, it is a game. (I am a certified baseball fan, by the way.)
> From sports: “He went for the homerun with that pass.” The announcer, with a clearly limited vocabulary, mixed up his sports.
> From sports: “So, in that inning, we had one hit batsman…” Unless the announcer is doing play-by-play for cricket, the term in baseball is “batter.” (Yeah, I know that one is picky, but refer to “baseball” earlier.)
> Worn-out words: “Awesome” (Blame generations under 40 years old.) “Paradigm” (How many of us use that word in a conversation?) “Infrastructure” (See the previous question regarding “paradigm.” This one, by the way, was on the wall in the newsroom mentioned earlier.) “Person” (This is a cold term with little meaning. Are we talking about a man, woman, child, teenager, or whom?” (This was on the wall too.)
> From sports more often than not: “Shy” “He’s just shy of the first down marker.” Or, “He’s just shy of his 40th birthday.”
> “I’ve got” or “I have got to blah-blah-blah.” You got it. Now, now you have it.
> Passive instead of active voice when writing news copy. (One of my pet peeves.)

I could fill a book with these. There are many more. You know them. You may love them.

Post the terms, words, and phrases that drive you nuts. Or, you could try making a sentence out of all the terms listed above and post them. Perhaps the exercise will purge them from our brains!

Very Disturbing Video to Pass Around

Months ago, I had posted a similar video about the connections between Barack Hussein Obama and the radical agitator and would-be Marxist/Socialist dictator - Raila Odinga.

Faultline informs us:

This video, originally with over 300,000 views was removed from YouTube.
I do not have the details on why it was removed, but it's back and you need to
see it.

In this one video you'll find the connections to everything that Faultline U.S.A.'s title suggests: Obama, Odinga, Socialism, Marxism, Islam, WOT

Pass it around.

Update 10/29/08 @ 7:50 p.m. PT:

Looks like the YouTube Censorship has taken away this video once again! Is anyone at all surprised??

We ALL Should Be Alarmed By This!!

Philip J. Berg's lawsuit against Barack Hussein Obama was dismissed by Judge Surrick yesterday.

You can read the entire decision at Berg's blog. [Note: Scroll down to view pdf link.]

Zach Jones has a letter written in support of Berg's lawsuit that every American should read. Here is a very important except regarding this alarming decision by the judge in the case:

To those of you who may not be aware, Sen. Obama could have easily defended his eligibility to hold the U. S. Presidency by merely presenting exclusive proof of where and when he was born; and that he has never held a citizenship from another country that would nullify or call his U. S. citizenship into question. Sen. Obama chose not to answer the complaint; but instead, he chose to take the route of a legal technocrat seeking to challenge Mr. Berg’s “Standing to Sue”. When Sen. McCain was questioned about his birth certificate, he immediately presented a vault copy of his birth certificate showing the date and location of his birth, without legal hocus pocus.

“Standing to Sue” means that party has sufficient stake in an otherwise justi[f]iable controversy to obtain judicial resolution of that controversy. Sierra Club v. Morton, 405 U. S. 727, 92 S. Ct. 1361, 1364, 31 L.Ed.2d 636

The Hon. R. Barclay Surrick decided Sen. Obama’s Motion to Dismiss in part on the following reasoning:

…regardless of questions of causation, the grievance remains too generalized to establish the existence of an injury in fact. To reiterate: a candidate’s ineligibility under the Natural Born Citizen Clause does not result in an injury in fact to voters. By extension, the theoretical constitutional harm experienced by voters does not change as the candidacy of an allegedly ineligible candidate progresses from the primaries to the general election…

Everyone must fully understand the meaning of Judge Surrick’s decision in dismissing Mr. Berg’s lawsuit. First, it does not mean that Sen. Obama is in any way eligible to hold the Office of the Presidency. Second, it does mean that even if everyone knew that Sen. Obama was born on the moon, it would not matter regarding the decision about Sen. Obama’s Motion to Dismiss. Judge Surrick found that a voter would not suffer enough injury by the possible election of an ineligible candidate as President to grant him or her standing to be authorized under law to bring this type of lawsuit. Third, this challenge to Sen. Obama’s eligibility is not over.

If Citizens exercising the most precious right that we have under the Constitution, in what is expected to a free and fair election process, do not have standing – who does?

This is absolutely unconscionable!!

But take heart! According to Berg's website, over 71 million people are following this story! The media of mass deception may not report about it, but the NEW MEDIA of blogs and various Internet websites ARE REPORTING ON IT!

Obama Crimes

*******
P.S. The birth certificate being passed off as "real" by factcheck.org is FAKE! There are many reasons that this certificate is very suspect. One blogger asks us to consider the following information as just one example.

In 1961, the father's race would NOT have read "African" - it would have been written as "Negro" or "Colored." Remember, Obama was born in 1961 - when those terms were used! "African" wasn't used back then!

That's sounds reasonable and logical to me. If anyone can prove that "African" was used back in that era, then I stand corrected.

*******
Update: There are now 8 separate lawsuits filed against Obama's candidacy in 8 different states because of the fact that Obama's vault length GENUINE birth certificate has not been shown to any judge or the American people. Despite Judge Surrick's attempt to ignore this issue through his dismissal of Berg's case against Obama - it is NOT GOING AWAY THAT EASILY!

Hannity's America Videos

If you are a fan of Sean Hannity's weekend T.V. show - Hannity's America - on Fox News Channel; then you must see this series of videos that show Obama's connections to yet ANOTHER radical - Rashid Khalidi.

GateWay Pundit has a great article and links where you can get much more detail about the connection. What is also disturbing is the FACT that the LA Times has a video of Obama attending a Jew-Bash & toasting a Former PLO Operative... but the paper REFUSES to release the video!

Hannity's America Video

You can click on the additional Hannity's America 10 minute videos in the "list of videos section" at the bottom of the YouTube screen.

All I can do is to alert readers to these findings and continue to proclaim:

Farming

[bracket] is the just announced, new annual publication from InfraNet Lab in collaboration with Archinect.

They are now seeking submissions for the first issue. Planned to be released in Fall 2009, it will center around the theme of farming.

Fish farms, server farms, energy farms, urban farms, information farms, wikipedia, facebook; our contemporary daily life owes so much to the resourceful, convenient intelligence of collectivity. How is it shaping or how could it shape our cities and buildings? How are these developments shaping our natural environment? And what are new potentials for these typologies? These are the issues and questions that designers and writers are asked to respond to.

The deadline is February 22, 2009.

AAgrotecture 3: Farmacy

Farmacy / Samantha Lee

Continuing with our little series of student projects from Nannette Jackowski and Ricardo de Ostos's vertical studio at the Architectural Association, this is Samantha Lee's proposal for a farm at King's Cross London which “grows, manufactures and sells medicinal herbs.”

Farmacy / Samantha Lee

Lee essentially answered the central question of the studio — Can extremes of programmatic effectiveness blend with the fragility of human habitat? — by turning the farm into a civic infrastructure similar in function to hospitals and neighborhood clinics.

Lee writes:

With the notorious past the area has with drugs, and in this process of regeneration, this farm plays a role in its journey of healing. Herbs were selected according to ailments specific to a city like London – for example stress, insomnia, colds and depression.

Urban agriculture as detox centers for urban living.

Perhaps a much richer, more architecturally inclined Jamie Oliver — in a similar neo-eugenics quest to make thinner, fitter, happier Britons — may want to buy the designs and actually build it.

Farmacy / Samantha Lee

Further integrating this infrastructure into the site, “the growth of the herbs takes place within nets, stretched along the deteriorated brick wall of Regent’s canal, where visitors either pass by to experience the fragrance of the herbal gardens, or can purchase from the pharmacies. The wall also acts as a division between the staff and the visitor where back passages are used to access the herbs.”

The central element of the design is the Gas Holders, a Victorian-era building since dismantled and now reconstructed here. It is the “space for the factory and its machinery necessary to wash, dry, grind and distill these herbs into their commercial state. There, the visitor finds walkways and look out points completing the experience of this factory and farm.”

Farmacy / Samantha Lee

Farmacy / Samantha Lee

Farmacy / Samantha Lee

In appearance — and this could be mostly due to the model's chromatic choices — the structure looks like a rustic cottage for an apothecary, something the Crusader turned monk-herbalist-sleuth, Cadfael, might have produced if he were at the AA.

Or a steampunk version of Hugh Fearnley–Whittingstall's River Cottage.

It might also be something that came out of Peter Jackson's SFX studio. The Farmacy, after all, seems to be subconsciously engaging in Tolkienesque fantasies. It belongs in Middle Earth, not in a contemporary global city such as London. In fact, the reconstructed Gas Holders reminds one of water wheels, a symbol of industrial progress but now more often a signifier of the pastoral.

All of which could be Lee's central argument, her “urban script”: to “blend” well into the spatial fabric of the city without people turning riotous at the sight of some industrial monstrosity, it's best for urban farms to mine the mythical rural idyll for nostalgia and vernacular forms, reinterpreted.

No one wants the Fordist hell beneath Metropolis. They want the bucolic, peacock-strewn gardens in the sky.

Cerebral Palsy blog

Guys,

It's that time once again. Friday, the beginning of a weekend. I have a in-between feeling about this weekend because I'm headed out of town. Family business. I am looking forward to spending some time with my mom and her family. As a result, I will not be back until Wednesday. That being said, I intend to have through Wednesday done before I leave.

The first installment starting today. I found this website helpful. It deals with my disability (cerebral palsy) and the foundation that provides support to parents.

Soros - The Evil Financial Manipulator

My time for blogging is limited this morning, so forgive this hasty post.

Recall all of the blog posts where I stated that I suspected that George Soros was probably involved in our current economic crisis?

There is comment post over at Free Republic with a link to a paper that tells of more examples of Soros' corrupt maneuverings in other nations' financial markets!

Islander 7 Comment quote:

Case Study: George Soros

The world’s undisputed king of applying this type of muscle is George Soros. The August 23, 1993 cover story of Business Week entitled “The Man Who Moves Markets” paints the picture of an investor whose manipulation of the press is matched only his ability to manipulate his financial empire. By far, Soros’ greatest gains, however, have been destabilizing currencies on the global market. Time and time again, when a nation is in a monetary crisis, Soros is there to give the currency the last nudge, and then profit as it plummets. He bet against Asian currencies in 1997 and the peso in 1994. Perhaps his most brash move was taking on the Bank of England in September of 1992.

England was in a precarious position in 1992. It had an agreement with other European nations to maintain its currency within certain bounds relative to the German mark under the ERM- Exchange Rate Mechanism- system. Economic troubles had reduced the true value of the pound, but still it was held at a rate of roughly three marks to the pound. Increasingly, England was being pressured to devalue the pound, despite treaties to the contrary. But when would they take an action so contrary to national pride? On Wednesday, September 16, Soros leveraged the entire $1 billion value of his fund, and was able to take a $10 billion position against the pound. The $10 billion bet against them was the final blow, causing the government to announce a devaluation. All told, Soros made $2 billion in profits on the trade, tripling the value of his fund, at the expense of the British government. Without a global network and precise timing to rely on, Soros could never have pulled such an extreme trade. The lesson is not to stop the development of global networks or inhibit technology growth, but to be aware of the new opportunities available to the most aggressive investors. Such assaults are clearly not in the best interests of the nations involved (Asia is still recovering from its currency crisis), and some sort of world leadership is needed to prevent individuals from destabilizing governments for their own profit.

More from commenter "imfrmdixie":

2) The true story of Soros the Golem Executive Intelligence Review SPECIAL REPORT April 1997.

{p. 18} George Soros is not only one of the world’s leading megaspeculators; throughout his entire life up to this day, he has served as an “errand boy” for the Anglo-American monetarist establishment, running looting operations against the nations of Eastern Europe, as well as attacks against the sovereignty of nations ... in September 1992, “in an eyeball-to-eyeball confrontation with the Bank of England,” Soros destroyed the British pound and the Italian lira and made $12 billion in profit from his speculation, as he later bragged in an interview. ...

{p. 19} Using leveraged loans, Soros raised $40 billion to outspend the Germans. How he was able to do this, remains a mystery: first, there was the fact that a speculator like Soros is able to borrow on a margin of 5%, borrowing $1 billion for just $50 million. Second, Soros had ties to those very British oligarchic circles (epitomized by the Rothschilds) which wanted to undermine the Bundesbank, at the same time that they considered the pound sterling to be overvalued. Third, Soros had extensive lines of highly leveraged credit with banks like Citibank N.A., which is one of two custodians of Quantum. And, fourth, U.S. intelligence sources charge that Soros has access to a ‘hot money” crowd in Israel, politically associated with the Eretz Yisroel goals of Gen. Ariel Sharon. These provide some leads as to how Soros was able to beat the Bundesbank and destroy the ERM.

More from "IndianPrincess OK":

Absolutely agree!!! Read this from Wikipedia on Soros. He mentions that he supports Obama and he worked hard to defeat Bush. Don't you know he will do whatever it takes to get O in. I find it not one bit a coincidence...no way. He has the fund, the hedge fund buddies, and he has the motive.....absolutely. Now, how do we deal with it? Here's what I found. Wikipedia does not allow you to post on FR. http://talkwisdom.blogspot.com/2008/09/sorosobama-scheme-to-financially.html http://dealbook.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/10/09/from-george-soros-to-a-bank-near-you/ George Soros (pronounced /ˈsɔroʊs/ or /ˈsɔrəs/,[2] Hungarian IPA: [ˈʃoroʃ]) (born August 12, 1930, in Budapest, Hungary, as György Schwartz) is a Hungarian-born American financial speculator, stock investor, philanthropist, and political activist.[3] Soros is famously known for "breaking the Bank of England" on Black Wednesday in 1992. With an estimated current net worth of around $9 billion, he is ranked by Forbes as the 99th-richest person in the world.[1] Currently, Soros is chairman of Soros Fund Management and the Open Society Institute and is also a former member of the Board of Directors of the Council on Foreign Relations. According to his own website, Soros claims his support for the Solidarity labor movement in Poland, as well as the Czechoslovak human rights organization Charter 77, contributed to ending Soviet Union political dominance in those countries.[4] His funding and organization of Georgia's Rose Revolution was considered by Russian and Western observers to have been crucial to its success, although Soros said his role has been "greatly exaggerated." In the United States, he is known for having donated large sums of money in a failed effort to defeat President George W. Bush's bid for re-election in 2004. On BookTV, November 12, 2007, he said that he supports Barack Obama for the Democratic candidate in the 2008 election, but says that John Edwards, Hillary Clinton, or Joe Biden are all fine candidates, as well.

Possible Bombshell Re: Obama's Father

Andy Martin has been investigating the truth about all the mystery surrounding Barack Obama's "vault" birth certificate. You can read his latest findings at Contrarian Commentary.

Excerpt:

(HONOLULU, HI) (October 22, 2008) Internet powerhouse Andy Martin told a Honolulu news conference today that after an intense international investigation he is convinced that Barack Obama, Junior, the presidential candidate is really the son of Obama’s controversial mentor Frank Marshall Davis.

“Mendacious adults ‘switched’ Obama at birth. That is why he has refused to allow access to the original or ‘vault’ birth certificate,” Martin told a Honolulu news conference. “We believe the original certificate did not list a father. Barack Obama became the father as a result of an agreement between Ann Dunham, Frank Marshall Davis and Barack Obama, Sr.

“Davis was already married to a White Woman. He did not need a nonmarital child by a second one. Ann probably refused to have what was then called a ‘back alley’ abortion. Davis may have felt that ‘Obama’ would face less stigma with an ‘African’ background than a Negro one. The civil rights revolution, of course, turned that gambit upside down. In discovering and understanding what happened we cannot forget we are dealing with events in 1961, not 2008.

“The irony in all of this is that Obama once stated he did not want his daughters to be ‘victimized’ with a child. And he is alive because his mother took the contrary view.

“Barack Obama has known this since adulthood, and the shock of this discovery still reverberates in his psyche.

If true, now we know why there was so much secrecy about his “vault” birth certificate and why the Obama campaign tried to pass off a cheap, computer generated fake copy.

It also explains why Obama Sr. was mostly absent in his life. He probably knew he wasn’t his real father.

After reading Mr. Martin's findings, recall what was revealed about Obama's relationship with Frank Marshall Davis from the Obama Timeline article.

Excerpt:

While a teenager in Hawaii, Obama spends considerable time with Frank Marshall Davis (whose identity Obama hides by describing him only as “Frank” in his book, “Dreams From My Father”). [19] Davis is a dope-smoking drinking buddy of Obama’s grandfather, Stanley Dunham. [21] (Obama had met Davis shortly after arriving in Hawaii, at age 10, [21] but was most influenced by him during his high school years.) In place of his absent father and stepfather, Davis becomes Obama’s mentor.

Davis is a member of the Communist Party of the USA, poet, propagandist, “bitter opponent of capitalism,” and radical agitator; in 1948, Davis had fled Chicago after the FBI and the House Un-American Activities Committee investigated his subversive anti-American activities. [21,259,261] Davis is also a bi-sexual, sex pervert, child molester (bragging of repeated sexual encounters with a 13 year-old girl), and pornographer, and is the author of the book “Sex Rebel: Black” under the pseudonym Bob Greene. [21] Davis “…would cruise in Hawaii parks looking for couples or female tourists to have sex with. He derived sexual gratification from bondage, simulated rape and being flogged and urinated on. He boasted that ‘the number of white babes interested in at least one meeting with a Negro male has been far more than I can handle’ and wished ‘America were as civilised as, say, Scandinavia.’” He concluded: ‘I regret none of my experiences or unusual appetites; for me they are normal.’” [21]

Obama joins Davis at his home on most evenings, shares alcohol and drugs, is tutored in socialism, and taught not to trust the white establishment. [33] "They'll train you so good," Davis said, "you'll start believing what they tell you about equal opportunity and the American way and all that shit." Davis teaches Obama, “Black people have a reason to hate” and “You may be a well-trained, well-paid nigger, but you’re a nigger just the same.” [22,261]

Davis’ Marxist-inspired poetry includes lines like, “Smash on, victory-eating Red Army!” Titles of his poems include, “Christ is a Dixie Nigger.” [261]

It is believed that Davis was a close friend of Thomas Ayers (father of William Ayers) in Chicago, and that it was Davis who encouraged Obama to attend Columbia College in New York and hook up with William Ayers. [259]

In Davis’ autobiography, he writes of his seduction of a young white girl, age 13, named “Anne.” [21,259] This fuels speculation that the “Anne” in Davis’ book is Obama’s mother, Stanley Ann Dunham, and that Obama is actually the child of Frank Marshall Davis. [260] Obama’s grandfather and Davis were close friends, suggesting that his mother and Davis certainly knew each other, but there is no evidence that Obama’s father was Davis. Further, when Ann Dunham moved to Hawaii with her parents in 1959 she was already age 16 or 17. The suggestion that Davis was the father of Obama is most assuredly false; the topic is listed here only to refute the rumor.

Apparently, the author of "Obama Timeline" considered the suggestion that Davis was the father of Obama as simply a rumor. Perhaps Mr. Andy Martin's new findings will help us reach the truth in the matter.

Phillies or Rays?

So...who are you rooting for in the World Series? For me, I usually enjoy choosing the underdog team. The Tampa Bay Rays, nick-named The Minimum Wage Rays in an article written by author Jay D. Homnick of The American Spectator, have earned their spot in the series through hard work, guts, determination and a never-give-up attitude.

As the article points out, the money given in salary to the Ray team players was probably one third the amount that the Phillie players earn.

Hmmm...sounds a lot like a certain presidential candidate. No, not "That One," the other candidate!

John McCain wisely stayed clear of publicly taking sides in this one. At least that's what I heard.

According to some news clips from Barack Obama's last two campaign stops, he is living up to the title given to him earlier in the campaign - both ways Barack!

Ha!

Apparently, he publicly gave his "love" and "support" to both teams. Reminds me of something... Oh yes! It's kinda like voting "present!" te he

As for me? This is a tough one. I REALLY want to cheer on the Rays. Like I said - I love the underdog. However, my husband and I have been invited to a wedding in early November. Guess who will be there? The parents of Phillie pitcher, Cole Hamels! It might make it difficult to meet and talk with them...if the Phillies don't win. Then again, when they ask me who I happened to be cheering for during the series I could just answer, "present!" But they may not get the joke. ;-)

In case you haven't clicked over to the link to read the article (which I enjoyed quite a bit!) I won't include any excerpts to spoil the fun.

However, I learned something new from the comment posted there:

Great for baseball & America. In recent years, the Marlins, Angels and Diamondbacks have all won the World Series as the least payroll team. In an era when major TV markets merge with teams to buy any player that looks hot, it's great to see small market teams win on guts and talent. It's also providential that the Devil Rays had the worst record last year, and dropped Satan as a sponsor. Go Rays!

Didn't even notice that the team had dropped the "Devil" name until I read that comment!

Looks like it turned out to be a good decision!

It's Not Halloween, but It's Just as Scary!

Hold On To Your Remotes

It’s that time of the year again. No, I’m not talking about autumn. No, I’m not writing about Halloween, although it is similar. I’m talking about the fall sweeps for television! Usually, TV stations “front load” “sweeps stories” (notice all the jargon) before the sweeps begin hoping to entice likely viewers to their shows and newscasts for the coming month. Does it work? Sometimes.

Officially, the Nielsen fall sweeps month is the four weeks from October 30-November 26 this year. There is one BIG potential or perhaps probable problem with this year’s sweeps. It is the continuing stalemate between LIN TV/KXAN TV and Time Warner Cable.

Otherwise, this would/could be a really interesting rating period this year. Why? If KXAN TV and Time Warner can sort out their retransmission issues, it could be the battle of #1 anchor teams.

KVUE TV is the #1 station for broadcast news right now, but co-anchor Christine Haas bolted for a bigger market and, probably, a bigger pay check at the Belo station in Houston. (KVUE TV’s web site says she’s still there. Nope.) Now, relative newcomer Tyler Sieswerda will be paired with a genuine newcomer, Terri Gruca. She’s coming from a good station in Minneapolis. She is originally from North Carolina. It remains to be seen if Austinites will murmur, “She ain’t from around here.” She’ll have to win over her audience. Of course, she’s joining the team with meteorologist Mark Murray and sportscaster Mike Barnes, both of whom have been around a while. Murray may be embraced for his appreciation of the Austin music scene as much as he is for his weather acumen.

The potential battle begins here, however. KXAN TV will go into the November sweeps with the same team that took them to #1 earlier in the late 1990s—Robert Hadlock, Leslie Cook, Jim Spencer, and Roger Wallace. Leslie is to return to the air on KXAN this week. One problem: They aren’t on Time Warner Cable right now. Yes, there are many, many other ways to receive KXAN TV, but Austin remains one of the most wired cities in the nation. LIN TV may be trying to change that. (See earlier posts.) Personally, I’m looking forward to seeing them on the set together again. They have great chemistry. Yes, I did work there for 16 years as managing editor; but with them off the cable, I’m just glad I’m not in their sales department right now!

And don’t count out the other powerful and compelling anchors in town who have also been #1: Judy Maggio and Ron Oliveira at KEYE-TV. Judy and Ron were on top of the ratings mountain in the glory days of KVUE TV in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Since they teamed together again at KEYE, there has been constant growth in their following, particularly at 10 p.m., rising to #2 at 10 p.m. this year. Katie Couric and the CBS Evening News was a drag on the success of the early newscasts at 5 and 6 p.m., but Katie may have found her voice and audience during this election cycle with the interviews of Republican Party Vice Presidential Nominee Sarah Palin. Judy and Ron are pros and great people. And, yeah, I worked with them too. There is also appreciation for Susan Vessell, who is now the 5, 6, and 10 meteorologist promoted from the morning news, and sportscaster Bob Ballou.

I know that I’m not mentioning Fox and News 8, but their anchor team hasn’t been #1.

What I really, really hope is that the KXAN TV / Time Warner Cable issues are settled somehow before sweeps. Then, we can look beyond all the inane, vacuous sweeps stories that the stations will, no doubt, pull out of the can. It is true that reporters’ sweeps stories can make a difference however. I’ll allude to one continuing sweeps series. James Lynch, an anchor/reporter for KXAN TV in the ‘90s did a series on the “Cabbage Diet” (Remember the “Cabbage Diet”?) It was a roaring success.

That success seems to underscore what Austin news-watching audiences have professed over the years. They don’t care who delivers the news. They just want substance. They want content. The anchors don’t matter. But, if the anchors don’t matter, why do all of the TV stations’ consultants do research on the anchors assessing their recognition and popularity?

Similar to the coming election, the only research that matters are the Nielsen “overnights” and the final “book” analyzing what newscasts and shows worked and, maybe, why. The viewers will be voting with their remotes.
