Obama's Health Care & Cap & Tax Plans Disastrous

This morning, Fox News did a report on how private practice is making a come back in Canada. Why? Because people like one woman in the story would have had to wait 30 months for an MRI. She paid the expense of flying to the U.S.A. and got her exam (and was found to have a brain tumor and given 6 to 9 months before she would be completely blind) and treatment within days. The doctors stated that she would have died if she had to wait 30 months.

Obamacare is more like ObamaDOESN'TCARE! It will end up being a death sentence - especially for the most vulnerable people - premature born babies and the elderly, not to mention all of us in between those stages of life!!

Most Americans are happy with their health coverage. You certainly wouldn't get that same answer in Britain or Canada - where nationalized health care has become a nightmare!

Wake up America!! Don't let this terribly expensive and horribly inefficient ideology of the rabid-liberal-left trap us into such a failed health care system!!

Description: What provisions are buried in cap-and-trade bill?

From The Obama File:

Obama Suppresses His Own EPA Report

A top Republican senator has ordered an investigation into the Environmental Protection Agency's alleged suppression of a report that questioned the science behind global warming.

The 98-page report, co-authored by EPA analyst Alan Carlin, pushed back on the prospect of regulating gases like carbon dioxide as a way to reduce global warming. Carlin's report argued that the information the EPA was using was out of date, and that even as atmospheric carbon dioxide levels have increased, global temperatures have declined.

"He came out with the truth. They don't want the truth at the EPA," Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla, a global warming skeptic, told FOX News, saying he's ordered an investigation. "We're going to expose it."

The controversy comes after the House of Representatives passed a landmark bill to regulate greenhouse gas emissions, one that Inhofe said will be "dead on arrival" in the Senate despite Obama's energy adviser voicing confidence in the measure.

I Am Potential: The Family's Views On Coping With the Difficulties In Life

Welcome back~

As I gear up for my vacation, I am trying to catch up with my posts for the week. I kept putting off posting because I didn't have anything newsworthy to mention for Monday and I hoped something would become available for my disability Google alerts. But it hasn't happened yet and I am running out of time. As a result, I am posting two discussions on Patrick Henry' book, I Am Potential. The first, continuing his book review with a primary focus on what it means to cope with a situation. According to Webster.com, coping as defined as "to deal with and attempt to overcome difficulties". But as I have learned from the Hughes family, coping is not necessarily overcoming the problem as much as it is "working through" it.

Or in Patrick Henry's words, "I have learned that when situations are challenging, you have to rise up and keep going, or there'll get you down ." He believes that many of the people he has met feels stuck where they are. These feelings sometimes stem from a fear of failure or getting out of one's comfort zone. "If you give in to that fear, you might never know how good things could be or the problem might get even worse if you choose to ignore it."

Like many parents, John Hughes and family never really can say they've got it all under control. After all, when you figure out the solution to something, another problem usually rears its ugly head. "So just when you think you've got the big challenges under control, something else props up to prevent your complete sigh of relief.. all of these things make coping anything but easy. But you have to always to moving ahead with the belief everything won't get better without you doing everything possible to make it so..."

In these circumstances, the Hughes family was never alone- even when they thought they were. John Henry reminds us, "God is there, waiting for an invitation to intercede. It may not come when you think it should or in the form you have requested, but exactly what is needed always arrives at exactly the right time."

Instant Loss of Credibility???

Really? Instant?

Just by mispronouncing the name of a town, by saying BOO-dah instead of BYOU-duh for Buda, can one experience “instant loss of credibility”. Well, no. Probably not. Not for a one thing, unless that one then is a very big thing. The simple mispronunciation of a word won’t forever damn you in the eyes of the viewers, listeners, friends or strangers.

One of my longtime friends from TV news read the phrase “instant loss of credibility”, the subheadline in my last post, and saw it as a sentence to journalism purgatory, if not hell. Oh sure, a producer might correct you, a friend might kid you, but one muff of a word won’t ruin your career or standing in the community.

Obviously, what will cause an “instant loss of credibility” is a publicized brush with the law. Readers of “TV Spy” have seen lots of it in print lately elsewhere. “Anchor Arrested for DUI”, “City Reporter Seen Socializing with Mayor”, and so forth. You’ve seen it, and you’ve formed an opinion on the spot. People in the public eye must be circumspect. I remember when I was covering crime in the ‘80s for KVUE (ABC), I was single. Like most single people, I’d go to parties. The second or instant that I saw a line on a mirror, I was out the door. I had ugly visions of a police sweep, and I would be caught up in it. Yeah, that would have been an “instant loss of credibility” and, possibly, career.

Credibility is not instant either. It is earned. People get to know you as a journalist or as a person. After knowing someone for a while, comes trust. That trust turns into something larger—call it credibility.

The inverse, therefore, is true. Little things, seemingly tiny things, can chip away at that credibility. One miss pronounced or muffed word won’t kill you, but if it continues, it begins to grind and confidence erodes. It’s the drop on the stone. Poor grammar is probably worse. If you say a word (street name or place) wrong, they may murmur, “This person ain’t from around here,” but they won’t hold it against you. Using poor grammar time and again will wear away credibility. It questions your education and knowledge. The listener will ask, “If this person cannot make subject and verb agree, can this person connect the dots on a complex story? Can I trust this person? Can I trust this person? Can I trust this source—person-to-person or through any communications medium?

Errors in fact are the worst. It won’t take many misstatements to ruin a relationship. Errors in fact can be interpreted as sloppy work, lying, or even bias. Now, we’re talking about near “instant loss of credibility”.

Beyond a personal level, at the institutional level, most of the above is true. People may stop watching a station because of everything from recurring errors in fact, a perceived bias, or constant production snafus, which seem to come with the territory in automated, robotic TV. When the system melts down and starts taking the wrong video, taking the wrong camera, moving the robotic camera like a zombie, and on and on, people may watch while it’s happening because it’s a train wreck. Over the long term, however, the audience may sample a different source. The Austin market is notoriously fickle. It doesn’t take much for them to rise as one and reach for the remote.

None of us sets out to achieve “instant loss of credibility” as individuals. We have our persona created over the years. When that persona is damaged, we hurt. It is the same professionally. Some who suffer career setbacks soldier on, determined to get back what they had. Sometimes they do. Other times, it takes a move to another market—starting over.

As individuals, we are often generous and forgiving. The audience acting individually in email is not nearly as forgiving. I’ve answered viewer email. What the audience perceives as truth sometimes is not fair, but it’s what the audience thinks. Retrieving that goodwill takes time and commitment by management and the professional staff. Fortunately, the audience at the moment may not forgive, but five years from now, it may have forgotten.

Boy did I get that one wrong.

First off, congratulations to the US Soccer team for their improbable run in the FIFA Confederations Cup. Not only did the U.S. Men's National Soccer Team trounce out-manned Egypt 3-0, but they also took advantage of the Brazilians' 3-0 statement defeat of the Arruzzi to vault themselves into the Semi-finals of the Tournament.

It was there, despite the on-going run of luck, that I assumed the ride was over. The opponent was #1 ranked Spain* who was unbeaten since 2006 against Non-European competition, who was the winner of Euro 2008 and who was enjoying a renaissance of late as a World Top Team.

Wrong. The U.S. Men dominated Spain 2-0 for a half, and then rode the stand-on-your-head brilliance of Tim Howard to preserve the shut-out and the win.

The Finals presented a familiar challenge. Brazil, the team that beat the U.S. 3-0 and led to my posting that the US team was done, thanks for playing, take your parting gifts and South African Sun-tans head back to your minor league soccer franchises and prepare for our quadrennial drubbing in 2010.

But the US team surprised me, playing spirited offensive football and, for a half, beating the Brazilians at their own game. Yes, in the second half the sheer talent and offensive brilliance of Samba Soccer proved too much to overcome. Eventually even the best of goalies wither under an onslaught of shots. That being said, the US has a lot to be proud of today, our National soccer team stood up to the World's elite, and they held their own.**

Congratulations to them.

*Proving, once and for all, that FIFA world rankings are bunk.

**There should be some debate, going forward, as to the reasoning behind the US' recent ascension. I'll weigh in on that soon. (Hint: It isn't Minor League Soccer) Ironically the very same establishment that's stifling creativity could be in-part responsible for helping the US to improve.

The Report you're not seeing in Houston (Updated)

Yao could be out for season, if not even longer.

[Adrian Wojnarowski, Yahoo! sports]
As the NBA draft approached, the grim truth about Yao Ming’s(notes) broken left foot hung like an anvil over the Houston Rockets. The fear isn’t that he’s just lost for next season, but longer.

The Rockets and Yao’s reps are frightened over his future, and the concern is the most base of all: Does Yao Ming ever play again?

“The realization has hit them that this is grave,” one NBA general manager said.

For now, the Rockets have privately told league peers it could be a full season before Yao might be able to return to basketball. Multiple league executives, officials close to Yao and two doctors with knowledge of the diagnoses are describing a troubling, re-fracture of his navicular bone. Three pins were inserted a year ago, but the foot cracked in the playoffs and isn’t healing.

“It sounds like he’s missing most of next season, if not the entire 82 games,” one league executive who has had recent discussions with the Houston front office told Yahoo! Sports. “That’s all that [the Rockets] will concede quietly, but they know it’s probably much worse.”

Houston general manager Daryl Morey refused comment on Monday and a team spokesman said the Rockets will not have further comment until Yao undergoes additional medical tests.

Contrast that to the Chron's coverage by Jonathan "tortured prose" Feigan:
Nearly seven weeks after the Rockets were shocked by the injury that ended Yao Ming’s season, they were as stunned Wednesday to find it has not healed.

A bone scan late Wednesday evening showed that the immobilization of Yao’s left foot has not healed the hairline fracture he suffered May 8 during the Rockets’ second-round playoff series against the Los Angeles Lakers.

A statement released by the team said Yao and his doctors will consider other treatment options. Those could include anything from wearing a cast, rather than the walking boot used since the injury, to surgery.

“Yao is not experiencing any pain in his left foot. However, the results from the CT and bone scans we performed over the past two days indicate that the hairline fracture has not responded to the degree that we expected,” Rockets team physician Tom Clanton said in a statement. “We will review a variety of treatment options before proceeding.”

(snip)

Despite the injuries, Yao has remained central to the Rockets’ long-term plans and is considered untouchable when it comes to trades heading into tonight’s NBA draft.

“He is the cornerstone of the team,” Rockets general manager Daryl Morey said. “We’re trying to win here. We have an All-Star. We’re hoping Tracy (McGrady) can come back and play at an All-Star level like we know he is capable, but we’re dealing with uncertainty there. We’d like to get more All-Stars, not trade one away.”

Richard Justice danced around the issue but failed to mention what the Rockets are privately saying.

Namely, Yao Ming is out.....for a long time.

Instead of the company line from this town's sports scribes, or wink and nudge 'negative' columns designed to rile up the fan base while staying so outlandish so as not to offend the targets, it'd be nice to get a little bit of actual sports analysis and reporting on the big issues....

Say, like the severity of Yao Ming's foot injury. That'd be some reporting I'd like to see from the Chron. Because I love my family and would like to spend more time with them I'm not holding my breath.

UPDATE: Feigan files a report: Admits to being scooped by Yahoo! Sports.

Sad.

One Ongoing Battle

Good and bad news about the ongoing (and seemingly never-ending) battle against homosexual indoctrination, continued lawsuits and the radical activists push for same-sex "marriage."

First, the bad news. Alliance Defense Fund has announced that there has been a class action lawsuit filed:

State Class Action Lawsuit Filed Challenging California Marriage Amendment

PR Newswire: “This lawsuit claims that section 7.5 of Article I violates the equal protection clause of the State Constitution. McCoy said, ‘we chose to bring this lawsuit in State Court rather than in Federal Court because sexual orientation is a protected class under California State Law and it is not recognized in Federal Law.’”

The complaint: Burns v. State of California

However, as the following comment tells us, this might be a blessing in disguise:

Karen Grube
Posted June 28, 2009 at 9:09 am
I love it! This would be a terrific opportunity to blow the lid off of the concept that sexual orientation should be a protected class at all. I would challed this law firm to prove there is any real way to measure or determine one’s sexual orientation the way there is one’s race, gender, or age. There is no DNA test, no ‘gay gene’ to prove one’s sexual orientation. We could prove, in court, that it is simply a lifestyle choice! How cool would that be? I’m serious. This could be the perfect venue to repeal the so-called sexual orientation protections that currently exist in California state law. Oh, and besides that, I would challege it on the basis that having such protections violates federal law, since federal law doesn’t recognize such protections. This could be terrific! Use this as the opportunity to PROVE people don’t get special protections for their lifestyle choices! That would be wonderful!

Karen Grube makes some excellent points! Why is an aberrant behavior being given protections in California state law that are not recognized in federal law? Should people get special protections (read: over and above the protections of those who do not participate in such behaviors??) for their lifestyle choices?

This is exactly why the "hate crimes" legislation currently being debated in Congress must not pass! Not only would there be special protections for an aberrant sexual deviancy, but there would be SPECIAL PUNISHMENT(S) FOR THOUGHTS OF THOSE WHO CLAIM THAT HOMOSEXUAL BEHAVIOR IS A SEXUAL DEVIANCY!

Returning to Métis/Reford

Jardins de Métis

Exactly four years ago today, in one of our very early posts, we noted the start of the latest edition of the International Garden Festival at Jardins de Métis/Reford Gardens. We would like to tip our readers again the start over the weekend of this year's festival, which will last until 4 October. Below are some photographs of the gardens to temp you to make a trek to Quebec.

While the gardens look rather inventive, something you'd expect when the designers are given absolute creative freedom, however, you can be sure that there will always be some sort Picturesque-esque visualary:

Jardins de Métis

And hyper-modern geomet-o-rama:

Jardins de Métis

And everyday objects given post-modern cooptery for high designery:

Jardins de Métis

And algorithmic computerary:

Jardins de Métis

And volup-terra-ry (see this one with bouncing, infectiously joyful kids):

Jardins de Métis

And green-goism (though this one isn't overtly treebuggery):

Jardins de Métis

And pushing-it-with-the-project-statement:

Jardins de Métis

And rhythmametry:

Jardins de Métis

It's interesting to note briefly that not one of the gardens are peddling in what Piet Oudolf, the avant-gardener of the High Line, would call “the soft pornography of the flower.” The installations are less about botany and almost singularly about sculpting spaces and programming them with melodrama.

Go see (and play).

Discrimination still exists, but it all stems from not understanding a person's disability

Hey Guys~

Okay, so I realize I am a week behind. But I have kind of developed different priorities this week. After visiting my friend and participating in her last musical recital, I continue to be amazed at how much things change- no matter how much we don't want too! But that's a part of life, I guess; learning to accept those changes and adapt to them. To be honest, that's the lesson I struggle with most in my current circumstances. I'm seeing my friends go out into the world and succeed and then I look at myself. My success is minuscule, compared to theirs. I just wish I was doing more. But then I am reminded my success is on a different standard as the world's . As a result, my dad has encouraged me to continue writing my book. It has been going well, but I am beginning to wonder whether my purpose has changed

Anyway, that's where my head is at right now. After I finish these updates, for this week and the next, I am planning to take a break for a while as I will be unavailable. I don't know how feasible it will be to update for the next three weeks.

Now, on to today's post, I actually came across this article thanks to one of my readers. At times, articles like these remind me that we are not living in a perfect world. As much as we would like to say that people with disabilities are not discriminated against, that's not always true. This article proves that. In summary, the article tells the story of a young boy who is acting out in the classroom. In response, the teacher along with his classmates "voted" him out of the classroom as a discipline. It was later discovered that the boy had autism. The teacher was later suspended, but most recently, she was reinstated.

Eligibility Dispute is Serious

The Obama File has several posts of interest regarding the question that seeks to answer Obama's eligibility under the U. S. Constitution's Article II, Section 1's "natural born" requirements.

How can a self-admitted British subject and citizen of Kenya ever be considered a "natural born" American citizen?

Despite the fact that this radio station titles their post with the incorrect question: KTBB's Question of the Day: Is There Enough Proof President Obama is a U.S. citizen? the comment section (347 comments and counting!) is filled with CORRECT QUESTIONS regarding this vital issue.

Also posted at The Obama File:

Eligibility Dispute Is Serious

A judge hearing one of the cases challenging Barack Obama's eligibility to be president has taken the unusual step of describing the dispute as a serious constitutional issue and further has begun adding letters of comment from the public to the court record.

Word of the action by U.S. Magistrate Judge Joel Schneider in Camden, N.J., comes from attorney Mario Apuzzo, who is handling the Kerchner vs. Obama case, which Apuzzo filed in January on behalf of Charles F. Kerchner Jr., Lowell T. Patterson, Darrell James Lenormand and Donald H. Nelson Jr.

Named as defendants are Barack Hussein Obama II, the U.S., Congress, the Senate, House of Representatives and former Vice President Dick Cheney along with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

The case focuses on the alleged failure in Congress to follow the Constitution. That document, the lawsuit states, "provides that Congress must fully qualify the candidate 'elected' by the Electoral College Electors."

The Constitution provides, the lawsuit said, "If the president-elect shall have failed to qualify, then the vice president elect shall act as president until a president shall have qualified."

"There existed significant public doubt and grievances from plaintiffs and other concerned Americans regarding Obama's eligibility to be president and defendants had the sworn duty to protect and preserve the Constitution and specifically under the 20th Amendment, Section 3, a Constitutional obligation to confirm whether Obama, once the electors elected him, was qualified," the case explained. "

Congress is the elected representative of the American people and the people speak and act through them," the lawsuit said.

The defendants "violated" the 20th Amendment by failing to assure that Obama meets the eligibility requirements," the lawsuit said.

I had previously read (I believe it was at The Obama File) that the defendants (who have postponed presenting their evidence several times already) have a new deadline on June 29th. We shall see what happens.

Instant Loss of Credibility

Speaking Austin

It came out of the mouth of a TV reporter during the 6 O’clock news last night (Thursday, June 25). I don’t know what the story was about. I’m not quite sure who the reporter was. I think that I know the station, but it doesn’t matter because I was still hung up on what she said. It caught my attention instantly. My head turned like it was on ball bearings. Longtime Austinites could be heard murmuring, “She ain’t from around here.”

She was referring to the former area formerly known as Robert Mueller Municipal Airport, and the reporter called it, “MULE-ur.” There are members of the Mueller family still living here. The name is pronounced “MILL-er”.

Right then, I knew it was time. It was time to recreate my pronunciation guide for new broadcast news reporters, and for anybody else who hasn’t lived in Austin, Texas very long—a lot of people are in that group. Why is this important? For people on the air, mispronunciation results in immediate distraction from the story at hand and loss of credibility.

Somewhere (probably in the attic where you could bake bread this time of the year), I have the original list. I would give it to new reporters and anchors. Let me say, I don't necessarily agree with these localism, but nobody asked me. So, this is the reconstituted list:

Let’s start with towns and places.

Manor is pronounced MAY-nur, not how it looks.

Elgin is pronounced with a hard “g”, not like the watch, like “begin”.

Mexia is Spanish. So, it’s pronounced Mah-HAY-ah.

San Antonio is located in Bexar County. Like Mexia, it is Spanish, pronounced like the aspirin BAY-er.

Lake Buchanan is said “Lake BUCK-annan”.

Llano is also Spanish, but it isn’t pronounced like the Spanish double L. Say “LAN-oh” instead.

Manchaca, the road and town, is Spanish, but isn’t pronounced in Spanish by most locals. Say MAN-shack instead. (I'm not kidding.)

Menchaca Elementary School is in Manchaca. The school is pronounced the way it looks in Spanish.

Burnet is pronounced BURN-it.

Blanco is not pronounced in Spanish. It’s said, “BLANK-oh”.

San Marcos would seem easy, but locals say, “San MARK-us”, not “ohs”.

Andice is actually the way it looks: AN-dice with a long “I”.

Buda is pronounced BYOU-duh. Not the way you think.

Bastrop is pronounced BASS-strop.

Pedernales - The street, the river, and the state park are pronounced by locals as PURR-di-NAL-es. I don't know why.

Dripping Springs may also be called “Drippin’”

A little background: South Austin is historically looked upon with scorn by North Austinites. Over the years, South Austinites were called “Bubba’s”. South Austinites would never, ever live north of the river because they believe the people there live life in the fast lane, except during rush hour when they just sit in the fast lane. (I’ve lived only in South Austin for, well, er, decades.)

Now, we’ll move to Austin streets.

I – 35 is not IH-35. Longtime locals called it “Interregional Highway”, but most people wouldn’t know what you were talking about if you said that.

The signs for the other north-south thoroughfare say “Loop 1”, but everyone calls it MOPAC, even though the tracks are now owned by Union-Pacific. I keep thinking it will be named after someone famous.

Coming from the east, Texas Highway 71 becomes Ben White Blvd. before it turns in to US 290 West (unless you’re in the wrong lane and have to go straight. If you go straight, you’ll be on Loop 360.) At the “Y” in Oak Hill (Southwest Austin) you’ll have a choice again of 290 West or 71 West.

Guadalupe may be called “The Drag” where it runs past The (with a capital “T”) University of Texas at Austin. Elsewhere, the street is not pronounced in Spanish. Locals say GUA-dah-loop. Really. However, the river and the county are pronounced in Spanish, which is much nicer.

Some streets have different names, depending on where you are. Ranch Road 2222 is Koenig Lane (Pronounced KEY-nig.) It is also Northland near MOPAC and Allendale east of MOPAC.

US 183 is more confusing. Depending on where you are in Austin, it might be Research Blvd or Anderson Lane or Ed Bluestein on the south end. If you go all of the way north to Cedar Park, it’s Bell Blvd.

Airport Blvd. back in Austin used to run parallel to the airport when the airport was Mueller. It still has little signs showing airplanes because if you go south on Airport, you will eventually get to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.

Manor Road. (See Manor, the town above. Same thing.)

Duval occurs in two places: North of UT and way north off of MOPAC.

Got all of that? I’ve probably left out a few. I welcome additions. Just click on “Comments” and share them with everyone.

A New Austin News Source

Austin Post

In this era of change and upheaval in the news and information industry, who would want to start up an online news presence out of thin air?—especially, a not-for-profit online publication. What are they thinking?

“They” are successful Internet enabler and software creator Trilogy, and they’re thinking, why not.

The Austin Post official goes online July 1, 2009, but the “Alpha” version of the site is up now at
www.austinpost.org.

What does Austin Post offer that you may not find on the other commercial media sites in town? Think of it as a hyper-local Huffington Post relying on unpaid, local contributors/writers/bloggers for content. “Find the best blogs. Pull them together. Put them into a familiar context. Could you create something that would be a viable alternative to the Austin American-Statesman,” mused Scott Brighton, Trilogy president? Brighton said he and his colleagues have been watching what’s happening with the newspaper industry. “When the newspaper [Austin A/S] went up for sale, we sniffed around,” Brighton says.

They looked at the existing models and decided to create something new to Austin out of whole cloth. “Not because we think it's a good business,” says Brighton. “We're trying to create a model.” There are similar sites elsewhere, but one big thing that sets Austin Post apart is that it underwritten by Trilogy Employee Foundation, a nonprofit venture.

“We are breaking a few traditions of journalism,” says Austin Post editor in chief, Lyssa Myska Allen. She promises only very little, “light” editing of the copy. “People are the writers, and the people are the editors.” “We’re not there yet,” agrees Brighton. “Ultimately, there will be community engagement around them [the articles]. You will get a conversation. Articles that get voted down, will go to the back. We're betting that the process of what a traditional editor might do, will be done by the readers themselves.”

Just because Austin Post is nonprofit does not mean that there will be no ads or subscriptions. “Any money we make we're going to plow back into it,” Brighton says.

Will readers pay for content? Robert Rivard, editor of the San Antonio Express-News earlier this year wrote a pessimistic editorial with a gloomy outlook for the online news business. “Unfortunately, most of our new customers want our services for free,” Rivard writes.

“As my son, Nick, a regular reader of the New York Times online, once told me, “Dad, my generation doesn't pay for its media.”

The editor’s son does pay for his media, like many others. I’m betting that he downloads music from iTunes. That is paid-for content. The editor’s son didn’t pay for Twitter, but somebody bought the phone he is using for texting his tweets, if he tweets. Maybe the cell phone includes proprietary items at a cost, like the Apple phone apps and games. And it will cost to go online using the phone. The cost is determined by the contract or by the amount of media used. If the editor’s son isn’t paying for it, the editor is.

Further, yesterday (June 24, 2009), venerable “Editor and Publisher” magazine reported that the Journalism Online initiative wants to help content providers with a wide set of tools. “Its platform allows for an array of options allowing publishers to charge in numerous ways including: micropayments, sampling, …” and others.

Allen is familiar with the concept of paying for content. She came to Trilogy from Austin-based stratfor.com, a geopolitical and economic intelligence site. She says subscribers pay $349 per year for “intel and analysis.”

The content must be compelling for people to pay for it. Allen and Brighton know that. One thing that may be missing is the run-of-the-mill news of the day found on sites like statesman.com. For instance, today’s page contained nothing about the Longhorns loss of the national championship at the College World Series. “We are reliant on the writers to write. If nobody covers it, it won't be there,” Allen says.

The Austin Post has been recruiting writers since March with a goal of having about 100. “Once we get enough writers involved, the daily stories will be covered,” Allen says. It is a work in progress. “One of the reasons we're in alpha now is that we want to get it out there and get feedback and learn,” Brighton says. “We want to make the site great. That's where our energy is going. The site will change. If we create a great product, then maybe we'll hire “reporters”.

One of the well-known names in the Austin blogosphere is BurntOrangeReport.com which focuses on Texas politics. BurntOrangeReport.com is signing on with Austin Post, and so is NewsMcNabb.com. This journalism/media criticism blog will continue, but I will also contribute regular content to the Austin Post.

Beck's Common Sense Book & God's Permissive Will

I just started reading Glenn Beck's new bestselling book, "Common Sense," and it's a very sobering task - to say the least! I almost feel like I don't want to share this information with my grown, adult children! They might wonder whether or not there is any REAL, genuine hope for our Constitutional Republic when they see what a horrendous mess all the Washington bureaucrats (especially the continually re-elected "lifetime" leftist progressives - the new buzz word for socialists) - have made of our once great, prosperous and celebrated nation!

The statistics shared by Beck in the first few chapters are astounding! We learn about the corrupt reshaping and redefining of America.

Beck:

"America has let thieves into her home and that nagging in your gut is a final warning that our country is about to be stolen. Our Founding Fathers understood that WE are an intuitive people. If all of that is true, then it only makes sense that He would alert us to our impending loss. [link added - mine]

And now He is - shame on us for ignoring Him for so long."

The election of ObamaFRAUD is but one of a larger wake-up call from God to get our act together and save this nation from destruction through the coming tyranny of our out-of-control government!

We all need to DO SOMETHING! EVERYONE SHOULD BE OUT ON THE STREETS PROTESTING ON JULY 4, 2009!! Go to your barbecues in the evening.

Christians? WHERE ARE YOU? SPEAK UP FOR YOUR NATION!

Please don't use the excuse that this must be "God's Will." Do you think that Jesus was kidding that we are to watch, wait AND WORK until He returns for His Bride (all Christians everywhere)?

For the moment, I am going to veer away from the discussion on Beck's book. I want to share with you a conversation that I had years ago with a dear Christian friend named Susan Smith. It was on the topic of God's Perfect Will and whether or not there is such a thing as His Permissive Will that exists under, and within, His Perfect Will. I will explain.

As a reference, I am providing the link to where this conversation first occurred on my blog. It was in the comment section of Meaning of Katrina - A Sign?

Here is the portion of the conversation where we discussed God's Perfect Will and His Permissive Will that exists within His Perfect Will.

We had been discussing the criticisms that had been hurled at our nation by other countries around the world because of how the Katrina disaster was mishandled by the Bush Administration. I will pick up the conversation there.

Christine: ...some people don't like to read about Christians speculating what the recent disasters (tsunami, Gaza pullout, hurricane) mean. But I think that we ALL (including Christians!) NEED TO TAKE A HARD LOOK at ourselves to see what God is trying to show us and what message(s)/lesson(s) can be taught to each and every one of us from these events!

Susan: Hi Christine:

I do not think "upset" is the proper term to describe my feelings of sadness over the harsh and critical words I am reading about my country.

Can you name a country on earth that has blessed Israel more than the USA? When I moved to Israel more than three years ago, I was what one would call a gung-ho Christian Zionist.

Today, I KNOW God is in control and I believe the Gaza pullout is in HIS divine purpose. One can make the land an idol. The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof. (ss)

Christine: Can you be more specific about the criticisms you are reading about your country? Are you talking about the U.S.? Which criticisms against America are you referring to? Unfortunately, there are PLENTY to go around and they are varied as can be!

I'm just trying to understand what is bothering you, Susan. Are you referring to the criticism that is rampant against the Bush Administration and evident in our news media? Or, the criticism over the war in Iraq? Or, the criticism being hurled at us by the Muslim terrorists? Or, the criticism that evangelical Christians have pointed out over the moral relativism that has taken hold in America through liberal secular legislation, judges and education? Or, ALL of the above?

One more thing. Do you see the increase in natural disasters and the decisions and happenings involving the land of Israel as signs of the "birth pains" of the End Times?

Jesus told us to watch for such things as these. The Scriptures are quite descriptive of what to watch for (as evident in Robert's Revelation 18 post). Of course, no one knows the "day or hour" but Jesus DID tell us to watch for the signs where our redemption could be near.

Do you think that the increase of all of these signs as predicted in Scripture is possible evidence that the marriage supper of the Lamb and of the Second Coming of Christ is getting closer?

Susan stated: "Today, I KNOW God is in control and I believe the Gaza pullout is in HIS divine purpose. One can make the land an idol. The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof."

Christine: Let me ask you this. Do you think that it is possible that God, in His permissive will, allows the errors, sins, and mistakes of mankind (and their governments) to occur? Of course all of human history will lead to His ultimate divine purpose, but is all that happens to be considered His perfect will for us? I guess what I am trying to ask you is this: isn't the Bible filled with situations where Gods' Perfect Will wasn't followed and thus Israel, as a nation, needed to be rebuked and needed to be called back to repentance for her sins?

It is true that Gods' Perfect Will, WILL be accomplished, despite the fact that so many of mankind currently live in disobedience and rebellion to it. In Gods' permissive will, evil, sin and death is allowed here for now. Even Jesus said, "in this world, you will have trouble, but take heart for I have overcome the world."

The evil, sin and death won't be gone forever until all is accomplished. It is through the Law, the Prophets and the Church (people, not a building) of Jesus Christ that people are called to repentance. We are to be salt and light within this world to those who are lost and perishing.

Yes. God is ultimately in control of the destiny of human history. But Jesus gave us the commandment to go and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Evangelism is our assignment here on earth. Part of that evangelism is pointing out the need for people to see their sinfulness because they have broken the Holy Law of God. Without that Law and their realization of their sin, they cannot be truly born again in Jesus Christ. They risk becoming "false converts" as is pointed out in "The Way of the Master" book.

Here I go again! Posting my next blog subject here in a reply! OK. I'll end here for now and I await your reply.

Please know that I love and respect you, my sister in Christ, and I am not doing this to start an argument between us but to seriously discuss our differences on this issue.

Love in Him,
Christine

Christine: I found this quote in an article I was reading today:

"A venerable confession of faith states it rightly: "God from eternity, decrees or permits all things that come to pass, and perpetually upholds, directs, and governs all creatures and all events; yet so as not in any way to be the author or approver of sin nor to destroy the free will and responsibility of intelligent creatures."

I think that is a good definition of what is meant by Gods' "permissive" will.

Susan:
God's will is God's will... I have never been able to find in scripture much support for the idea of God's "permissive" and his "perfect" will in my life even though I am aware there are many Christians who believe there is such a thing. God is not limited by time and every single day we live is no surprise to him. HE knows the future.

"One can make the land an idol. The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof." I wrote in my previous post. This morning I am in charge of devotions for our HQ staff here in Jerusalem. I plan to share that the written Word of God can also become an idol. My mentor told me this years ago, and she is correct.

Thank you for assuring me you are not trying to start an argument, Christine. I do not contribute to blogs in order to debate... I contribute to be a blessing, not a curse and I do the best I am able to follow the leading of the Lord with my choice of words. Words are powerful regardless of who uses them.

Truth is truth, regardless of who speaks it. There are times when silence ministers much more than words. Yours in Christ,

Susan

Christine:
Hi Susan,

Thanks for responding. I'm glad you were able to find the comment among the tirade of Thomas.

Stephen warned me long ago that Thomas wasn't a person "seeking", just a person who tends to mock, disparage and destroy the witness of Christian believers. It took a while for me to reach the same conclusion, thus, I have taken the advice of the Bible and have "shaken the dust from my sandals and left that house"...so to speak.

Mat 10:14 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.

Mar 6:11 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.

Luk 9:5 And whosoever will not receive you, when ye go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet for a testimony against them.

First, I want to admit that I could be wrong and you, absolutely right about the "permissive" will idea. But, I have found evidence of this throughout Scripture in the accounts of the disobedience, reprimands of the Lord, repentance of the people and reconciliation back to relationship with God in the Old Testament. I also find evidence of God's permissive will within the Lord's prayer:

Matthew 6:10 KJV - Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as [it is] in heaven.

Jesus was praying that the Father's will be done here on the earth as it is in heaven. This indicates to me that God's Perfect Will IS DONE, ALWAYS, in heaven. After inequity was found in Lucifer and he was cast out of heaven as Satan (along with 1/3 of the angels who fell with him and became demons), Scripture tells us that the remaining angels were "sealed" by God. But obviously, since man was tempted by Satan to sin and we live in a fallen world here, God's Perfect Will is not always done here on earth.

1 Timothy 5:21 KJV - I charge [thee] before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels, that thou observe these things without preferring one before another, doing nothing by partiality.

God's angels can no longer "fall" today. Following the angelic revolt of Lucifer (now Satan), God "elected" or permanently confirmed the holiness of the angels who chose to remain loyal to Him. God has apparently given them a special grace of perseverance to enable them to permanently retain their position as holy angels.

The question that arises in my mind is if God's Perfect Will was always done here would we need to pray for it to be done here?

Jesus told us that "in this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! For I have overcome the world!"

The ultimate victory is clear because of Jesus sacrificial death and resurrection, but it will be realized totally and unequivocably (even by nonbelievers) at the culmination of all of history at the Lord's second coming.

I previously shared:

"A venerable confession of faith states it rightly: "God from eternity, decrees or permits all things that come to pass, and perpetually upholds, directs, and governs all creatures and all events; yet so as not in any way to be the author or approver of sin nor to destroy the free will and responsibility of intelligent creatures."

And I stated:

"I think that is a good definition of what is meant by Gods' "permissive" will."

I think what I may have left out is the important fact that God's current "permissive" will exists within His Perfect Will. It's not to be regarded as a separate entity.

Revelation reveals the idea of permissive will in the following verse:

Revelation 22:11, 12

11 Let the one who is doing wrong continue to do wrong; the one who is vile, continue to be vile; the one who is good, continue to do good; and the one who is holy, continue in holiness."

And the judgment at the culmination of all of human history reveals what will eventually be done:

12 "See, I am coming soon, and my reward is with me, to repay all according to their deeds. 13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End."

There are probably many more examples that I could post, but I just wanted to share these few for the purpose of clarity.

Again, if I am misinformed about this then I apologize and I thank you for pointing out my error.

Love in the Lord,
Christine

Susan:

Good morning, my West Coast sister! I am glad you finally decided to get up today. It is almost my bedtime across the ocean, but I was pleased to see your post before I log off for the night. No apology is necessary, Christine. Debating or arguing or even discussions with many words about God's "perfect" or "permissive" will, simply do not interest me. It does not matter to me, who is right or wrong. I refuse to have anything to do with foolish or stupid disputes, because I know they produce quarrels (see 2TI 2:23).

Christ crucified is all that matters to me, because He is my life. Praise His Name. I often sin when I use many words, so I will close by telling you it is a joy to call you my "sister"... even if 'crazy lady' sometimes brings a smile to my face. I am going to log off now, BEFORE you reply and get me tickled before bedtime! God bless you, my friend. Much love from the Middle East,

Susan

*******
Our debate essentially ended there. As Susan stated, we didn't want there to remain a "foolish or stupid dispute."

However, I think that those Christians who refuse to stand up against the Obama Administration - all the while KNOWING how damaging it has been for our nation, might need a wake-up call.

I think that Glenn Beck's book will do just that.

You see, perhaps it is God's Will that we DO FIGHT TO GET OUR NATION BACK ON THE RIGHT TRACK AGAIN!

What do you think?

Back to Beck's book.

Glenn doesn't spare any one of the two major political parties in his criticism against them. Both are heavily responsible for the mess that we find ourselves in today.

Chapter two is entitled, "Money - The Real Opiate of the Masses." Sounds familiar...doesn't it? Recall the old adage, "the love of money is the root of all evil." The truth is, the MISUSE of money by our Federal Government is just as damaging! One of the subtitles in the chapter reads, "Debt: How They Purchased Our Silence and Subservience." The discussion about our trillions of dollars national debt on the next few pages is MIND-BOGGLING! Glenn shares it in simple terms (especially good for the person who might fall asleep trying to read a chart or diagram) that will make you sad...AND MAD!

The second subtitle of Chapter Two reads, "Now How Much Would You Pay? The World's Largest Ponzi Scheme." Recall the Bernie Madoff scheme where he bilked investors out of $50 billion? Glenn states, "but that looks like a petty theft compared to the money stolen via Washington's Ponzi schemes."

He's absolutely correct. Read that chapter - and weep. Social Security is labeled as a great example of a "legal Ponzi scheme."

In the past, I have mentioned that the abortion of over 53,831,150 (as of 6/25/09 at 8:17 a.m. PT) CHILDREN has had an enormously devastating affect upon the Social Security system in this country. It is not the only reason the system is in trouble - but can you see how it MUST have had an enormous effect upon it?

When Social Security was created, abortion was considered a horrendous, illegal evil in our society and nation. Now? We have a usurper in the office of the presidency who is SO EXTREME that he voted AGAINST the Born Alive Infants Protection Act of 2004!

I wonder. If someone did the math on this American Holocaust against vulnerable, innocent babies who cannot speak for themselves - and the children and grandchildren that they COULD HAVE HAD - what affect would it have had on preventing the Social Security Ponzi scheme?

Back to the book.

The third subtitle in Chapter Two reads, "But Wait, There's More! Our $100 Trillion Bipartisan Betrayal." When you read how badly our government has handled Medicare, you would have to be OUT OF YOUR MIND to think that Obama's latest scheme - "Universal Health Care," would EVER BE MANAGED CORRECTLY OR SUCCESSFULLY.

Beck:

The lecherous politicians who lied to us about funding Social Security and Medicare are the same ones who are now trumpeting "free" universal health care. and instead of pointing at their track record and laughing hysterically, we sit by and listen receptively, as though this time might somehow be different.

When politicians want money, they traditionally write a bill that provides lots of overly optimistic details about the particular program they want to fund. That's why it's so interesting that Obama's request for $634 billion to be put into a "universal health-care reserve fund" really doesn't come with a plan about where the money will come from who will be eligible for it, or how it will be spent.

Common sense should tell us that, given our experience with the Social Security Trust Fund, the very notion of another "reserve fund" is absolute insanity.

Did you see any of the Obama infomercial on his latest Ponzi scheme of "health care" last night? Did you notice the looks on several people in the audience there? To me, their faces looked quite incredulous. I don't think that they were buying what Obama was trying to sell.

There was a huge contrast between a doctor (on video) who inadvertently seemed to be advocating ending the life of the elderly whose continued care in the hospital is "too expensive" vs. the woman (there in person) who spoke of her then 99-year-old mother who had a transplant and is now 105 years old. Who should make these decisions on when a person should live or die? God. That's who.

Back to Beck's book.

In the fourth subtitle in Chapter Two, Glenn writes, "But That's Not All! Act Now and We'll Also Include a Financial Meltdown!" In this section, Glenn explains how our debt to China isn't something to say "whew!" about. Some have been erroneously convinced that "our ship missed the iceberg and is not really sinking." The truth is, "but it is sinking...and so are the lifeboats."

I know. All of this bad news is hard to take. But what's better? To know the truth or keep our heads in the sand??

Glenn discusses inflation. Have you already seen prices going up? I have - especially at the grocery store! But this is NOTHING - yet. As our dollar gets weaker - so will inflation increase. Be forewarned.

I have a lot more to share, but will continue this post later today. Chapter Three discusses, "The Political Weapon of Choice: The U.S. Tax Code." The last several paragraphs of that chapter (as Glenn often says) will make blood shoot out of your eyes!

He ends Chapter Two with this:

Our legacy to our children need not be a lifetime of servitude to our country's creditors--but the insanity must end now. The time available to save our country will run out well before the money does.

Wake up America!!! And DO SOMETHING!

Update 6/26/09:

Found this essay on God's Permissive Will via Geocities.com.; written by Gregory B. Dill.

*******

Here is another essay. This one reminds me so much of what has happened here in America as a result of the election of Obama.

God's Perfect Will or His Permissive Will: The Choice Is Yours

Nevertheless the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel; and they said, Nay; but we will have a king over us; That we also may be like all the nations; and that our king may judge us, and go out before us, and fight our battles. And Samuel heard all the words of the people, and he rehearsed them in the ears of the LORD. And the LORD said to Samuel, Hearken unto their voice, and make them a king. And Samuel said unto the men of Israel , Go ye every man unto his city. 1 Samuel 8:19-22

The nation of Israel experienced the blessings of being God's chosen people. During the oppression of their years in Egypt , during their forty years wandering in the wilderness, and their long awaited entrance into the Promised Land, God had led them and provided for their every need.

Now the theocracy was being rejected. The people were demanding a king to rule over them, even though this went against the counsel of the Prophet Samuel. They were disregarding the Holy Spirit's leading of God's man: Nevertheless the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel.

It is a dangerous thing when God's people do not acknowledge the heart of those who preach His Word. Hebrews 13:7 says, Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation.

God desired a people who were separated from other nations; He wanted Israel to follow Him. Samuel knew that a king would take Israel away from God's divine direction. He knew they would experience difficulties and war, but the people were blinded by great visions of grandeur and wealth.

Because the Israelites chose to follow the wrong king, they relinquished God’s promises. They gave up God's best and settled for His permissive will. Psalm 106:13-15 states, They soon forgat his works; they waited not for his counsel: But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted God in the desert. And he gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul.

My friend, God may allow you your way, but you will not prosper or be as productive for Him. You will not experience the blessings that come from following the King of Kings. The Israelites paid a high price for their choice, and their country has never experienced the same level of greatness.

When we do our own thing instead of following God's plan for our lives, we experience heartache, disappointment, and loss of prosperity. Isn't this too high a price? Let's purpose to follow God so that we can experience the blessings of His perfect will.

Omaha Update

When I didn’t hear from Frank Volpicella, KVUE TV (ABC) news director, I wondered why. I thought that I had emailed him June 18th asking about his station’s plans for covering The University of Texas at Austin at the College World Series. Mr. Volpicella always answers my email. I was on deadline, and I proceeded with my recent post “Who’s In Omaha”.

At that time, only the Austin American-Statesman, News 8, and KEYE TV (CBS) were there. KVUE , KXAN, and KTBC were noticeably absent. In that post I said, “NewsMcNabb got no response from #1 KVUE (ABC).” Well, that’s true, because Volpicella never got the email. It went to another “Frank” with a dead email address, and I never got an “Undeliverable” notice. When Volpicella read the post yesterday, he brought it to my attention.

So, I apologize to him and KVUE. The good-natured guy that he is, Volpicella did tell me what I surmised. “No, we haven’t traveled with the Horns this spring/summer,” he said. That does not mean that there is no coverage. TV stations always have access to regional feeds and video from other ABC or Belo stations. They do not have a physical presence. A live physical presence is almost always better.

As I expected KXAN TV (NBC) did send Roger Wallace, sports director when the Horns made it into the championship bracket against LSU.

KXAN had to act fast during a thunderstorm in Omaha Tuesday night (last night). A satellite shot was impossible because of the dangerous weather, so they attempted a broadband live shot inside the media room at Rosenblatt Stadium. It froze. Within seconds, sports reporter/anchor Leila Rahimi
was on the set telling the audience what Roger had wanted to say.

It will all be over tonight. Now, I shall show my bias—Hook ‘Em!

The Gov. Mark Sanford Mystery (2nd Update)

When Fox News had reported that Governor Mark Sanford of South Carolina (who had been missing for several days and even his wife didn't know where he was!) was now "found" and the story given was that he was hiking in the Appalachian Mountains; the story just didn't seem plausible to me.

However, the blogger at RepubX has a post up that shares a Russian conspiracy theory that explains Sanford's disappearance over the course of several days.

It is quite a fantastic story; one that is hard to believe, actually. Who would go to a Socialist Russian embassy in Canada to seek help to escape from the Socialist/Marxist tyranny of the ObamaFRAUD Administration? Does that seem weird to anyone else?

But who knows whether or not it's the truth?

I have often been accused of being a "conspiracy theorist" by my detractors here at this blog. I've been labeled as a "tin foil hat" member, a "birther" and several other crude descriptions that I'd rather not repeat. However, the "natural born citizen" questions about Obama are growing by leaps and bounds in the minds of thousands of Americans each and every day. They are all are waking up to notice the truth of the matter - that Obama can't be a natural born citizen of the United States because his father was a British Subject and never naturalized to the U.S. For this obvious reason (despite what the sealed COLB says), many more people want to know the truth about Obama's eligibility.

Back to the subject at hand.

I wasn't previously aware that Governor Mark Sanford wanted to secede from the United States government. That was news to me. However, I did know that he didn't want to take Stimulus money from the ObamaFRAUD administration. Thus, I had my own suspicions when I learned that Sanford had gone missing.

Here is my comment at RepubX blog:

So....I guess this means that Sanford wasn't really hiking when he went missing? Who believed such a bogus story anyway?

The theory posed here is way beyond what I thought had happened. I figured that ObamaFraud's goons got ahold of Sanford and scared the hell out of him over the course of several days. Among other things (like discouraging him from challenging Obama in the next election) the ObamaBORG Bots made Sanford "see the light" regarding taking the Stimulus funds. That way, the ObamaBORG has power over him.

But this Russian conspiracy theory? Seems way out there, to me.

However, living in America today is like being trapped in a raging Twilight Zone with the lunatic fringe in charge! So, is the Russian conspiracy theory plausible? I don't know. But I guess anything is possible.

There is a movement going on in Texas to secede. Saw this on Glenn Beck. There are 250,000 people who have already signed on to do so.

Hope it doesn't come down to all of this. I'm still praying that one of the eligibility cases against Obama gets a hearing by a judge.

There are some commentators at the blog who refuse to believe in the Russian conspiracy angle. Who could blame their disbelief? It's so hard to know the truth anymore.

However, one commentator named "ij" wrote a comment that sent chills up my spine:

Just seen this and was wondering if this story in any way connected to the story you just put up? Weird stuff going on everywhere, that's for sure... Nothing is impossible anymore, and I think everyone is questioning everything these days.

6/23/09 Update:

Fox News Channel is now reporting:

Report: Missing South Carolina Governor Traveled to Argentina, Not Appalachian Trail

Well, at least I was correct to not believe the bogus "hiking the Appalachian Trail" story!!

Also, the RepubX story sounded to far out there to be believed.

So, what was Gov. Sanford's trip to Argentina all about? The T.V. broadcast on this story didn't give those details.

Excerpt:

As it turns out, Sanford was nowhere near the Appalachian Trail. He was in Buenos Aires, Argentina, thousands of miles away in South America.

"I wanted to do something exotic," Sanford told The State. "It's a great city."

The governor plans to hold a press conference Wednesday afternoon.

It appears there was a sliver of truth to Sawyer's explanation. Sanford said he had considered hiking the Appalachian Trail, and told his staff he might do so, before bailing for South America.

But he said he didn't know why his staff provided that explanation to the media and that he couldn't figure out why his disappearance drew so much attention.

What??? He wanted to "do something exotic?" ON FATHER'S DAY WEEKEND??? Most fathers spend time with their families on that day.

This is still a very strange, developing story. Will the public ever really know the truth about it?

Governor says he never hiked Appalachian Trail; says he cruised along the coast of Buenos Aires to unwind after stressful legislative session

This governor WAS FORCED by the ObamaFRAUD BORG BULLIES and the clueless Dems in that state's Congress to take Stimulus money that he didn't want to take!!

What's wrong with this picture, people?

It appears that the focus is now off of this battle and now aimed at Sanford's "disappearance." I would bet that if he told anyone where he was going, the OBAMABORG would have followed. Just a guess, on my part.

However, what I'd like to know is why did he go to Argentina? What was there that may have been helpful to this man and his current dilemma?

Was he threatened in some way? Was he escaping an assassination attempt?

Time will tell as the story unravels - that is - if we can get any kind of truth from the SLOBBERING LOVE AFFAIR Obama Media of Mass Deception.

Update @ 3:45 p.m. PT

By now, everyone has heard of "the affair" that Gov. Mark Sanford is having with "a woman from Argentina" and that was the excuse for his five day absense.

On Special Report, Charles Krauthammer just stated that this is so bizarre that it smells of an "intentional political suicide."

RepubX expresses doubt about this story: How convenient - Gov. Stanford resigns from chair of Gov association

Copy of the post:

Governor Stanford admits "alleged" affair, and as convenience would once again have it, he has resigned from the chair of the Republican Governors association.

As you may know, Governor Stanford was suing the Obama administration for intrusive actions into making states' dependent on Federal government through the so-called Stimulus package.

So, now we've happened to have two Republicans just come out with having a affairs.

This wreaks of Chicago-style "dirty politics" written all over it. Threaten with intimidation and give the Governor an official way out to step down. How much you want to bet the Republican Governors Association gets an "Obama administration" friendly new chair person?

And .. how much you want to bet Stanford will resign from his Governor position as well. The threat of seceding and suing for the stimulus package has been removed from SC - at least temporarily.

Did you notice that his wife didn't appear at the news conference? Did you hear that she is willing (already) to work things out with her husband?

Did anyone find Mr. Sanford's rambling during the news conference very strange??

Does this whole so-called affair sound plausible? Maybe it is. I don't know for sure.

However, we may get hints of whether it is true or just a set-up if we find out that RepubX is right - that a "friendly to the Obama Admin. new chair person" will fill in for Sanford. If that happens, then I think it might be evidence that the suspicions of RepubX, me, and Charles Krauthammer might very well be valid. Again, time will tell.

One closing thought. Who would ever want to get into politics in this kind of atmosphere?

Why The Austin American-Statesman Lives On

No RIP

for

AAS

While doing some research, I ran across an Austin blogger who insists that the end is near for newspapers. He was ready to write RIP on the walls of the Austin American-Statesman.

Well, it is true that these are challenging times of transition for the Austin American-Statesman and others. Some, indeed, will not survive. Some have already gone to that great periodical library in the sky. Just because some newspapers are gone and others are in trouble does not mean that all of them are. Further, this transition may mean change, and what emerges may be a different medium than the one that lands in the driveway (if you’re lucky) every day. I am not ready to predict the newspaper product’s characteristics. I do believe that it will include subscribers and advertising.

The blogger pointed out the obvious. Classified ads and real estate ads have all but disappeared from the American-Statesman. True. Craig’s list and Internet sites do the job better and cheaper. I, however, did sell a guitar using the statesman.com classifieds. Call it loyalty. And, since I wasn’t asking much, it was free. I also sold a truck through Craig’s List. Whatever works.

Corresponding today with an online journalist, I used these words, which I consider to be truisms:
> Content is king. When an audience finds the content that they want and need, they'll use/read that medium.

> Also, there must be a clear difference between these online destinations. The difference will develop into a personality, a brand.

> And finally, there must be a revenue stream to maintain presence.

The Austin American-Statesman printed version is constantly driving the audience to statesman .com or Austin360.com. Their email headlines send readers both places. Readers know what they are going to get with they arrive. What are they going to get? Content. Demographics may determine which medium the reader uses, but the reader is looking for content. That makes the A/S the gorilla in the room, and the room is the Austin market. As noted in a post a few months ago, the American-Statesman is actually growing a consuming audience for its content.

Now some of this is a necessary rehash. The final point, the need for a revenue stream, is new and possibly unique to the A/S. The American-Statesman has monster printing presses and they are used for far more things that printing its own newspaper. Yes, we’re talking about printing, not posting.

Including the Austin American-Statesman, they print nearly 30 other publications, according to Bob Tucker, vice president of operations: AAS, ahora si, Bastrop Advertiser, Lake Travis View, North Lake Travis Log, Pflugerville Pflag, Round Rock Leader, Smithville Times, West Lake Picayune, Leander Ledger, Cedar Park Citizen, New York Times, Austin Chronicle, The Onion, The San Antonio Current, Rumbo, Houston, Tiger Weekly, Baton Rouge, Slaughter Creek Reporter, Boy Scouts-Austin area, Brushy Creek Parks and Recreation, Texas Workforce Commission-3 titles, State of Texas Comptrollers Department, Southwest Cycling, The Jewish Outlook, Aviva (name changed to ToDo Austin), and starting this month- The Daily Texan.

Cox, the American-Statesman’s parent company right now owns several of those suburban newspapers, but note that the A/S also prints The Austin Chronicle and The Daily Texan.

Wait. I am not finished. The A/S has a built-in distribution system, right? So, in addition to delivery of their newspaper, they deliver nearly two-dozen publications, according to Harry Davis, vice-president of circulation: New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Investor’s Business Journal, San Antonio Express News, Financial Times, Barron’s, Jewish Outlook, River Cities Daily Tribune, Bastrop Advertiser, Cedar Park Citizen, Leander Ledger, Lake Travis Log, Lave Travis View, Round Rock Leader, Pflugerville Pflag, Smithville Times, Westlake Picayune, Ahora Si, Tribeza Magazine, Austin Women Magazine, Country Living (local), Apartment Newsletters (to 11,000 units), and Brilliant Magazine.

Seen enough? There is one other aspect of the Austin American-Statesman that often goes overlooked—Its location. If for no other reason than location, location, location, the A/S is worth a ton of money. The newspaper headquarters is on the south shores of Lady Bird Lake just east of Congress Avenue. I remember when they were downtown around the 400 block of Guadalupe. That was a pretty good location back then too.

This gorilla may change; it is not going away any time soon. It also explains why it is taking such a long time to consumate the sale of the newspaper.

The web isn't just for people in wheelchairs anymore!

Hey Guys~

As I have tried to point out, the web isn't just for able bodied people anymore. Over the years, technology has made it possible for people from all walks of life and disabilities to share their stories with others. Whether it is because of software that enlarges a page's font or simply reads the content to the participant, technology continues to amaze us. But in order for everyone to enjoy cyberspace, there are a few things to remain aware of:

1.) Perceivable- content must be clear to everyone

2. Operable- your website must be easy to navigate and find your way around, accessible by all types of software or platforms

Understandable- your information must be easy to understand by all ages

Robust- software must be current and interface with the newest of technologies

Obama Eliminates "For The People" in Speech

During the Glenn Beck Program on Fox News Channel this afternoon, Glenn ran a video clip of one of Obama's speeches (dated sometime this month - June) that included a portion where Obama stated, "[We are] a government of the people and by the people." So, my question is - why didn't he include "for the people" as well? Why was that left out of his speech? That really bugged me.

As I got to thinking about it, I began to believe that it was purposely left out. It is the difference between what a president of a Constitutional Republic would believe and represent vs. a president with the tyrannical attitudes, policies, and dictatorship methods of a Socialistic/Marxist/Communist ideology - which is the direction that ObamaFRAUD and his cohorts want to take this nation.

Obama certainly doesn't appear to be "for the people" in Iran. Take a look at the contrasting photos over at The Obama File. There are millions of protesters who took to the streets for over a week in Iran, willing to be beaten and killed - all because they are desperate for freedom from the tyranny they live by under the Ayatollah. The fact that it was a fraudulent election cannot be denied. There are reports that more than 100% turnout occurred in 50 voting areas. What we have here is an Ayatollah and his cronies illegally taking out the legitimate votes (and voices!!) of the masses, and in dictator-like style, threaten the protesters with death in order to fraudulently anoint the crazy (already hand-picked) Iminajihad as the victor.

The Iranians are begging for support from Obama and the American people!! The American people are responding but Obama? He goes golfing!

Here's how The Obama File sums it up:

It's bad enough that Obama took off a few hours during the crisis to go golfing, but he also took his self-described foreign policy expert, Joe Biden, with him. Shouldn’t Joe have been back at the bunker, working one of the biggest foreign-policy crises in this administration, instead of literally puttering around?

Remember, it was Joe Biden who warned donors at a Seattle fund-raiser last October.

"Mark my words. It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We're about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America.

"Watch. We're going to have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy."

I can give you at least four or five scenarios from where it might originate," Biden said to Emerald City supporters.

Well, Joe, it's only 5 months, and Obama has four or five crisis going for him -- and all at one time
• Iran's Revolutionary Guards say they will crush any protests...
• Riot police use tear gas, fire live bullets in air...
• North Korea threatens to harm USA if attacked...
• Al Qaeda says would use Pakistani nukes on USA...
• Somali Pirates could take Obama hostage...

-- and the two of you are out on the links.

Plus, when anyone criticizes his actions (or, in this case - inaction!) the only reply we get from Obama or Gibby boy is, "we won."

This reveals why Obama only seems to regard being a government "of the people" and "by the people." He was elected by more people than John McCain was - "by the people." He campaigned on certain issues that attracted people to vote for him (many of which, btw, have turned into broken campaign promises) so now that he is our bogus POTUS, he has the mentality of being king "of the people."

This is why he left out describing himself as being a leader "for the people!!" He is not!! He is not FOR THE PEOPLE!! He is a narcissistic tyrant of the worst kind - intent on ruling over people instead of being A SERVANT OF THE PEOPLE - WHICH IS WHAT OUR PRESIDENT SHOULD BE!

Obama is into power - and lots of it. Global power, in fact. Lame Cherry blog exposes: "In studying the motive of operation in the illegal firing of Inspector General Gerald Walpin by Barack Obama, we find revealed the triggers which move the Obama group to destroy those who stand in their way."

Excerpt:

This is what follows Obama in his motives. He really doesn't care about the kickbacks. What he cares about is Congressional investigators getting ahold of this and their starting to link what happened with Walpin to the ACORN, to the 300 million illegally coming into his campaign from overseas to just who was pushing his rising star in where that money was coming from.

Gerald Walpin uncovered the submerged iceberg. This is what is Obama has in worse Watergate fashion than anything Nixon ever did with his massacres and attempting to get government agencies to destroy an American initiated in high crimes and felonies.
The same pattern evolved from Lawrence Sinclair in being turned into a political prisoner by the DC US Attorney's office for Obama before Obama was even in power. Mr. Walpin is now being turned into political refuse by the same smear tactics.
To have this kind of connections, means Obama is not the source, but that the most powerful people in left wing globalist intelligence are running this for him.

It is following the money to see the operation, but the motives of Barack Obama are ones of using key Justice Department contacts to remove those who are in the process of exposing that money flow.

This is likely what eliminated New York Governor Eliot Spitzer as he knew too much in what the Obama scam out of Europe was doing. Spitzer wrote about it and then went silent again.

The difference is this time that Charles Grassley, Republican is looking at this, and he has an ally in Democrat Chris Dodd, as Dodd was ruined by Obama in this banking assault on America.

Barack Obama will be impeached if key Democrats figure out how much Obama has used and disposed of them, just like he did to Blagojevich, Spitzer, Sinclair and what he is doing to Gerald Walpin.

The bogus things the liberal smear machine said about Bush and Cheney are nothing compared to the mounting Everest size pile of evidence against Barack Obama of Axelrod Inc. It is time to protect Mr. Walpin and kick this investigation into gear in the illegal use of government agencies to harass Americans into silence and the trillions in Obama funds in kickbacks bribing all of these people.

Time will tell.

ISN'T THIS AWFUL!!!

UGH....

A blog called "The Betrayal" has posted an article that states, The Narcissist in Chief: Barack Hussein Obama, Narcissists suffer from self-loathing

Copy of article:

Canada Free Press published

By Joy Tiz Friday, June 19, 2009

Telegraph reporter Stephanie Gutmann describes her reaction to Barack Obama’s appearance in Berlin: “After it was over I picked up the phone and called a friend back home. ‘It’s worse than we thought,’ I told him. ‘The guy’s actually crazy.’”

Guttman was talking about candidate Obama’s agenda as he presented it that day, in which he promised to take on the terrorists in Afghanistan, take on the drug dealers, rebuild Afghanistan, eliminate the building nuclear threat, secure all loose nukes, decrease arsenals from another era, form a new global partnership that will end terror networks, redistribute wealth, save the planet, withdraw all troops from Iraq, keep the oceans from rising, end famine, and reduce carbon output. Most politicians would have quit after two or three such ambitious proposals.

Incredibly, there are Obamanutz among us who honestly don’t realize that Barack Obama is a narcissist of the worst kind. Most people erroneously presume that narcissism is something akin to egomania or an unusually high sense of self-esteem. The truth is the reverse. Narcissists suffer from self-loathing, not too much self-love.

It takes a bit of narcissism to wake up in the morning and think, “Hey, I really ought to be leader of the free world.” Coming to such a conclusion in the fourth grade is, to say the least, ambitious. Having some narcissistic traits does not a narcissist make. However, according to the Encyclopedia of Mental Disorders, grandiosity is the most important single trait in narcissism.

Obama’s grandiosity is striking. It’s in his body language and posturing. It’s in his derisive comments about “bitter clingers.” In office, Obama has demonstrated early on his sense of entitlement and his belief that he is above the law.

The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM IV-TR) is the diagnostic manual used by mental health professionals. A diagnosis of narcissism requires five out of nine characteristics. Note these traits must endure over time and must not be reactions to a particular situation or environmental stressor:

Grandiose sense of self-importance.
Preoccupation with fantasies of unlimited success, power, beauty, or ideal love.
Sense of specialness, belief he can only be understood by or should associate only with other special or high-status individuals or institutions.
Need for excessive admiration.
Heightened sense of entitlement, leading to unreasonable expectations that others should treat him especially favorably or comply automatically with his expectations.
Tendency to be inter personally exploitative. A person with NPD does not hesitate in taking advantage of others to meet his own ends.
Lack of empathy, an inability or unwillingness to recognize or identify with the feelings or needs of others.
An envy of other people, or conversely, a belief that other people envy him.
A tendency toward arrogant behavior or attitude.
In his essay on Obama’s narcissism, Sam Vaknin references Obama’s haughty body language and condescending attitude. Vaknin also points out Obama’s “emotion free language.”

At the same time Bill Ayers was hijacking our schoolchildren, the popular culture was decomposing. With the advent of the Great Society and the disintegration of the nuclear family, the decline of our pop culture parallels the disintegration of our educational system. Radicals grabbed control over both. The entertainment industry has made pernicious narcissism seem unexceptional.

The narcissist in chief’s cavernous lack of empathy becomes more obvious as his presidency rolls on. It could hardly be called empathic behavior when Obama decided to drop all charges against Cole bomber Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri before Obama’s scheduled meeting with the families of the Cole victims.

Barack Obama lied to us throughout the campaign and continues to do so as the president. How did over half of the country not notice? The simple answer is that we are just not very good at recognizing when someone is lying to us. Our deception detection skills are inadequate.

Barack Obama is acting out his pathology at our expense. His appalling treatment of British Prime Minister Gordon Brown could be written off as another example of this administration’s incompetence. But it also looks as if Obama also has his own ax to grind with the Brits and lacks the emotional maturity to deal with it like a grown-up.

When children experience overwhelming trauma, they protect themselves as best they can with a variety of defense mechanisms. There is no question that life for little Barry Soetoro was traumatic, full of chaos and abandonment, as well as genuine fear. The adults in his life betrayed him and taught him hate and mistrust. Otto Kernberg, in his research on narcissism, states that it evolves as a defense against a cold and unsympathetic parent. The child withdraws part of himself from the unavailable parent and turns it back toward himself, creating a grandiose sense of self. Healthy emotional development was just not possible in young Barry’s environment.

The truth about No Drama Obama is that his early life was perpetual drama, which had to have done plenty of damage. What is most disturbing is his failure to deal with it. People do recover from early trauma and abuse, but only if they acknowledge it and allow themselves to experience the feelings that they had to block when they were too little to manage them. Eventually, the experiences have to be integrated into the adult personality; and not infrequently, abuse survivors benefit from professional support.

The current leader of the free world is not in touch with reality. The toady press gleefully accepts his fabrications and denials. And mental health professionals have shown a remarkable lack of curiosity about the mental health of the President of the United States.

It’s not in the nation’s best interest to put a narcissist in the White House. Bill Clinton’s debauchery demonstrated his willingness to put his need for narcissistic supply ahead of the well-being of the country he was hired to serve. Clinton’s narcissism was manifestly less toxic than Barack Obama’s.

For all of the narcissist’s grandiosity, he is driven by a relentless need to pursue and maintain a source of narcissistic supply. A narcissist is at his most menacing when he perceives a threat to his perpetual supply of admiration and affirmation. No drama Obama is already showing the truculence typical of narcissists when they sense a threat to supply. The same president who remains steadfast in his willingness to meet with Iran’s barbarian in chief, Mahmoud Ahmedinejad, is bleating about imagined desecration by Fox News. That would be the same network which liberal hack, Terry McAuliffe, applauded for its fair and balanced reporting during the 2008 primaries.

The narcissist in chief has been needling private citizens on talk radio and Fox News for insufficient veneration. The leader of the free world is impelled to use his standing to rebuke talk radio hosts while Iran is on fire, his economic policies are having catastrophic repercussions, and lunatics in North Korea are planning to launch a missile at Hawaii.

For the narcissist, nothing matters more than maintaining his supply. From Obama’s perspective, being chided by a cable news commentator really is a more pressing exigency than the possibility of Iran amassing nuclear weapons.

It’s no coincidence that many, if not most domestic abusers are narcissists. Domestic violence experts concur that the most perilous time for the victim is when she endeavors to flee from her abuser. The victim’s abandonment is felt as an inexorable threat to his narcissistic supply and will evoke panic and rage.

As Obama’s poll numbers drop and continue to slide as his ruinous failures accumulate, expect his acting out to escalate. This is not the psychological profile of a guy we want as commander in chief.

[Note: Go to site for additional article links within the text.]

There are certainly a ton of writings out there regarding Obama's narcissism.

I must admit, prior to reading that article, I traditionally thought that narcissism happened as a result of too much self-love. But now, the reasons for a LOT of the negative and ruinous policies that Obama is using against America become crystal clear to me. Especially when I learned that his narcissism is more likely akin to his own self-loathing!!

If a person does not have the emotional maturity to love oneself (in a proper way - of course) how could they ever truly love another person, or people, or Americans, in general? Does Obama love God? Has he ever expressed it? I haven't seen it. Instead, I see a hatred of true Christians. Obama appears to prefer those who live in a kind of spiritual oblivion. He reminds me of Pilot when he asked Jesus, "What is truth?" Pilot didn't really want the answer - neither does Obama.

Obama shows disturbing signs of hating and loathing "We The People" patriots of the United States of America. This is another reason why he would not utter the words "For the People" in that speech.

For once, Obama was ironically telling the truth about his true feelings. Through the elimination of the words "For The People" in that speech, he demonstrates over and over again - with each passing day - that they are three words which he absolutely does not believe in.

Evening Update:

Opened my email this evening and found this:

Mousavi Accuses Obama of 'Misleading the World'

Here's a blog post about the letter:

Pajamas Media: Sunday Morning in Iran, A Letter from Mousavi’s Office

Liked this very informative comment there:

Ban:

Mr. Obama has been clearly taken off guard and shows signs of uncertainty…what we were warned by the unsinkable Joe Biden would happen and VOILA! So when the man talks out of the both sides of his mouth and on the one hand says that he is “worried” about the people of Iran but then in the same statement…a few sentences later says: oh but we want to dialogue with someone regarding the nukes…you’ve got to go, HUH? I’m sorry but doesn’t that smack of a mixed message to you? PLUS aren’t you the LEAST bit suspicious of that behavior given Mr. Biden’s YEARS of sending his staffers do footsi-playing with Mullah reps throughout the years of his having headed up the Senate Foreign Relations Committe…meetings in Rome between his staffers, Mullah reps & the disgusting Baroness Emma Nicholson of Winterbourne, fundraisers for Mr. Biden’s senate reelection campaigns at the houses of millionaire Iranians who were known for their support of the regime…come on…you cannot just give an emtional and p.c. response to these issues. Especially that even the flakey Europeans have spoken tougher than “O”!

Bet most people (like me) didn't know this about Biden! Now we know what most have already suspected...their silence is complicity!!!

Only 265 more comments to read at that site! But it might be worth it. Learned a lot with just the first three!

I sincerely hope that Walpin sues Obama. I think he has the perfect case against Obama for unlawful firing!!
