Obama declares September as Childhood Obesity Awareness Month

US President Barack Obama has declared September as the National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month as part of his administration`s efforts to address the challenge of a "dramatic rise" in obesity among American children.

"Since the 1970s, the rate of childhood obesity in our country has tripled, and today a third of American children are overweight or obese. This dramatic rise threatens to have far-reaching, long-term effects on our children`s health, livelihoods, and futures," Obama said in his proclamation in this regard.

He said, "Without major changes, a third of children born in the year 2000 will develop Type 2 diabetes during their lifetimes, and many others will face obesity-related problems like heart disease, high blood pressure, cancer, and asthma,"

As a nation, Obama said, the greatest responsibility is to ensure the well-being of American children. "By taking action to address the issue of childhood obesity, we can help America`s next generation reach their full potential."

Taking the lead, First Lady Michelle Obama has also launched a series of steps to fight increasing obesity among children and promote healthy food.

"Together, we can stop this epidemic in its tracks. Over the last year and a half, the First Lady`s Let`s Move! initiative has brought together Federal agencies and some of the biggest corporations and nonprofits from across our country, working to meet our national goal of solving the problem of childhood obesity within a generation.

"Let`s Move! aims to help ensure we can make healthy choices about the foods we eat and how much exercise we get, while building the habits necessary to tackle one of the most urgent health issues we face in this country," Obama said.

The US President said everyone has a role to play in preventing and reversing the tide of childhood obesity. "This year, we announced groundbreaking partnerships with grocery stores and other retailers to increase access to healthy food in under-served areas."

The stores have pledged to increase their fruit and vegetable offerings and to open new locations in communities where nutritious food is limited or unavailable, he said.

Federal Judge Rules Against U.S. Plan for Salmon

A federal judge has found that the Obama administration’s attempt to make federal hydroelectric dams in the Northwest safer for protected salmon violates the Endangered Species Act.

Judge James Redden of Federal District Court in Portland ruled Tuesday that the plan, known as a biological opinion, is too vague and uncertain on specific steps that will be taken in future years to improve salmon habitat.

He added that he did not think the government could meet the standards of the Endangered Species Act by habitat improvements alone, and that it was time to consider new options, including removing some of the dams.

The judge left the plan in place through 2013, when federal agencies must come up with more specific projects to help salmon.

US House passes Republican debt bill

 The U.S. House of Representatives passed a debt ceiling plan in a vote on Friday evening, but the bill was quickly killed in the Senate, which further dampened hope for a bipartisan deal before the Aug. 2 deadline.

Under the newly modified two-step plan outlined by Boehner, a Republican, the Congress would immediately raise the federal government's borrowing capacity by 900 billion U.S. dollars extending to early next year and cut spending by 917 billion dollars over a decade.

According to the legislation rewritten overnight, the second tranche of debt limit increase next year would be contingent on Congress approving a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution and sending it to the states for ratification.

White House spokesman Jay Carney said, To amend the Constitution or default is a "highly dangerous game" to play.The Democrat-controlled Senate scuttled the Boehner bill two hours after the House passage.

The House bill is "flawed", Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid said, adding that the U.S. economy could not bear the kind of uncertainty any longer.

"The House of Representatives is still trying to pass a bill that a majority of Republicans and Democrats in the Senate have already said they won't vote for," U.S. President Barack Obama said hours before the House voting.

Obama said, Any debt ceiling compromise plan to avert an unprecedented debt default should be bipartisan in order to win support from both Democrats and Republicans. 
A lower credit rating would result in a "tax increase" on Americans in the form of higher interest rates on their mortgages, their car loans and their credit card.

It not only achieves more deficit reduction than the bill passed in the House today and puts a process in place to achieve even more savings, it also removes the uncertainty surrounding the risk of default.

According a report, The U.S. economy slowed to an annualized growth rate of 1.3 percent during the second quarter of 2011, far short of market expectations of around 1.7 percent, fresh evidence to a softer economy, the Commerce Department.The weakest since the recession ended two years ago, as flat consumer spending and spending cuts from state and local governments undermined the economic recovery.

Obama urged, "On a day when we've been reminded how fragile the economy already is, this is one burden we can lift ourselves. We can end it with a simple vote, a vote that Democrats and Republicans have been taking for decades, a vote that the leaders in Congress have taken for decades."

Obama: offered condolences after Norway Blast

Obama, who visited Oslo in 2009 to receive the Nobel Peace Prize, fondly recalled his welcome in the NATO ally and he wanted to personally extend my condolences to the people of Norway.

US President Barack Obama offered condolences to Norway after deadly twin attacks Friday and urged countries around the world to step up cooperation to combat terror.

During a meeting with New Zealand’s Prime Minister John Key, Obama called the attacks “a reminder that the entire international community has a stake in preventing this kind of terror from occurring.”

The president said, “We have to work cooperatively together on intelligence and in terms of prevention of these kinds of horrible attacks,”

A blast tore through government buildings and a gunman opened fire at a youth meeting of the ruling party, leaving at least 17 people reported dead.

Clinton said,We stand with the people of Norway in this moment of sorrow and offer our deepest sympathies to the families and loved ones of those injured and killed.

State Department spokeswoman Heide Bronke Fulton called the attacks “despicable” and said the embassy in Oslo has urged all US citizens to avoid the center of the Norwegian capital.

New Zealand’s prime minister, in his meeting with Obama, also voiced his “sympathies and concerns” over the attacks in Norway.

He said, “And that’s why New Zealand plays its part in Afghanistan as we try and join others like the United States in making the world a safer place,”

Now when I look at the photo of everyone watching the mission, I see that Obama DOES look angry! He is also wearing his typical Sunday best - a golf shirt. Seems plausible that he WAS pulled off the golf course to be briefed rather than being "in the know" about the entire operation. No wonder it took him several hours to come out and make that created-for-him teleprompter speech!

"What Valerie Jarrett, and the president, did not know is that Leon Panetta had already initiated a program that reported to him –and only him, involving a covert on the ground attack against the compound."

At the conclusion of the mission, after it had been repeatedly confirmed a success, President Obama was once again briefed behind closed doors. The only ones who went in that room besides the president were Bill Daley. John Brennan, and a third individual whose identity remains unknown to me. When leaving this briefing, the president came out of it “…much more confident. Much more certain of himself.” He was also carrying papers in his hand that quite possibly was the address to the nation given later that evening on the Bin Laden mission. The president did not have those papers with him prior to that briefing. The president then returned to the war room, where by this time, Leon Panetta had personally arrived and was receiving congratulations from all who were present.

In my initial communication to you of these events I described what unfolded as a temporary Coup initiated by high ranking intelligence and military officials. I stand by that term. These figures worked around the uncertainty of President Obama and the repeated resistance of Valerie Jarrett. If they had not been willing to do so, I am certain Osama Bin Laden would still be alive today. There will be no punishment to those who acted outside the authority of the president’s office. The president cannot afford to admit such a fact. What will be most interesting from here is to now see what becomes of Valerie Jarrett. One source indicated she is threatening resignation. I find that unlikely given my strong belief she needs the protection afforded her by the Oval Office and its immense powers to delay and eventually terminate investigations back in Chicago, but we shall see

It is disturbing that the safe-house was discovered last August and that we risked losing OBL over the course of the past nine months. The courier's name who led to Bin Laden through Bush's CIA interrogations was leaked in the latest WIKILEAKS dump. So it was only a matter of time.
"Osama bin Laden had 500 Euros in cash and two telephone numbers sewn into his clothing when he was killed, CBS News has confirmed." It was a miracle we got there in time.
But OBL appeared not to be worried. OBL was at the compound without armed guards or any sort of organized unit of protection. OBL was so confident, so safe, so assured. He lived there for some time (as opposed to moving from cave to cave under Bush). Clearly he was not worried under an Obama administration, and it's a miracle he was still there.
The media won't vet this story. So once again the blogs will go about getting to the bottom of things. The following update makes sense of what we know about Obama's reluctance to fight jihad. He seemed more concerned with getting Osama's Islamic burial right and the "Muslims sensitivities" that might be inflamed by the release of the OBL's death photos. Striking when Obama has insisted OBL was "not a Muslim leader."

Why Is Obama Going to India? [Update]

Did some brief research into the reason why Obama and a huge entourage (with expenses estimated to cost 200 million) is traveling to India. The first link contains a blog post with opinions about it. The second link is an article I found via the first link, and I have copied it in full here.

It is ironic to note that the author of the second article (posted in its entirety below) wants to stop NATO and is apparently against the "global military structure."

A September 8 report by a leading Canadian newspaper cited the Indian branch of the Deloitte consulting firm estimating the world’s second most populous nation plans to spend as much as $80 billion for its defense sector in the next five years.

It quoted an Indian journalist, Rahul Bedi, a contributor to Jane’s Defence Weekly, as stating "No one else is buying like India." [1]

Earlier this year the authoritative Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) disclosed that India had become the world’s second-largest importer of weapons from 2005-2009, "importing 7% of the world’s arms exports." Only China imported more weaponry, though that nation is slated to purchase less foreign arms, both aggregate and percentile, in the coming years and the largest foreign supplier of its weapons is a non-Western country, Russia.

During the five-year period mentioned above, Indian arms imports more than doubled from $1.04 billion in 2005 to $2.2 billion in 2009. Over the past 20 years Russia has been far and away the main provider of arms to India, as the Soviet Union had been in previous decades, though "The United States, currently India’s sixth-biggest arms supplier, seems likely to leapfrog to second position once New Delhi starts paying for a series of recent and ongoing acquisitions." [2]

Those contracts include $1.1 billion for C-130J Super Hercules transport planes, $2.4 billion for Globemaster airlifters and $2 billion for P-8I long-range maritime patrol aircraft. (A version of Boeing’s Poseidon reconnaissance and anti-submarine warfare Multimission Maritime Aircraft modified for Indian use.)

Reports in both the Russian and Chinese press speculate that when U.S. President Barack Obama visits India in November he "may secure $5 billion worth of arms sales," a deal that "would make the US replace Russia as India’s biggest arms supplier" and "help India curb China’s rise." [3]

The unprecedented weapons transactions could include "Patriot air defence batteries and Boeing mid-air refueling tankers.

"Observers point out that the role of India’s biggest arms supplier is shifting from Russia to the United States." [4]

A Chinese news source added that Washington will also supply New Delhi with howitzers and that "the total cost of the deal may exceed $10 billion…."

The Economic Times of India disclosed in July that "talks are underway between Indian and US officials over a deal to sell 10 Boeing C-17 [Globemaster III] military transport aircraft to the Indian Air Force (IAF)."

Wang Mingzhi, a military strategist at the People’s Liberation Army Air Force Command College, warned "once India gets the C-17 transport aircraft, the mobility of its forces stationed along the border with China will be improved." [5]

The C-17 carries a payload of 164,900 pounds for 2,400 miles and 100,300 pounds for 4,000 miles without refueling.

In late August the U.S. signed a $170 million deal to supply India with 24 Harpoon Block II advanced air-to-surface anti-ship missiles.

This February the Wall Street Journal revealed that the Obama administration, with a renewed focus on the Asia-Pacific region, intends to massively increase arms sales to both India and its nuclear rival Pakistan. U.S. military sales to Pakistan have risen to $3 billion a year and are expected to nearly double in 2011.

As for its neighbor, "India is one of the largest buyers of foreign-made munitions, with a long shopping list which includes warships, fighter jets, tanks and other weapons. Its defense budget is $30 billion for the fiscal year ending March 31, a 70% increase from five years ago." [6]

In January U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates visited India and later in the month Washington secured a deal to sell India 145 U.S. howitzers for $647 million.

"The Obama administration is trying to persuade New Delhi to buy American jet fighters instead [of Russian ones], a shift White House officials say would lead to closer military and political relations between India and the U.S. It would also be a bonanza for U.S. defense contractors, and [the White House] has dispatched senior officials such as Mr. Gates to New Delhi to deliver the message that Washington hopes India will choose American defense firms for major purchases in the years ahead."

The Wall Street Journal quoted Tom Captain, vice chairman and Global and U.S. Aerospace & Defense director at Deloitte headquarters in New York, as claiming "For 2010 and 2011, India could well be the most important market in the world for defense contractors looking to make foreign military sales," where Russian equipment accounts for about 70 percent of that currently in use.

Referring to India’s plans to spend $10 billion for 126 multirole combat aircraft, Captain added: "That’s the biggest deal in the world right now. If it goes to an American firm, that would be the final nail in the coffin in terms of India shifting its allegiance from Russia to the U.S." [7]

Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Michael Mullen was in the Indian capital on July 22-23 and met with Defence Minister AK Antony, Air Chief Marshal Pradeep Vasant Naik and other military leaders. As a local news agency divulged, "Mullen’s visit comes at a time when both sides are looking at expanding defence cooperation across a swathe of areas.

"The visit also coincides with intensified lobbying for the $10 billion contract for 126 fighters for the Indian Air Force (IAF)." [8]

The White House is negotiating new export control agreements with India to assist American arms firms to sell more high-technology weapons to the Asian nation.

At the top of the list of U.S. objectives in expanding military ties with India are replacing Russia as the country’s main arms supplier and the concomitant supplanting of Russian political influence, further tightening an Asian NATO around China [9] and weakening the Shanghai Cooperation Organization [10], all to ensure unimpeded American presence and domination in Eurasia.

After the end of the Cold War and the fragmentation of the Soviet Union, the Pentagon was given free rein to operate worldwide, including in parts of the planet hitherto inaccessible to U.S. troops and bases.

U.S. European Command, through the expansion of NATO membership and graduated partnership programs, has secured the Defense Department a prevalent role in almost all of Europe and the South Caucasus.

Central Command has extended its role from the Middle East to Central Asia and further into South Asia and the Indian Ocean.

On October 1, 2002 U.S. Northern Command was established to oversee North America from Mexico’s southern border to the Arctic Ocean. Six years later U.S. Africa Command was launched to subordinate 53 nations on and off the coasts of the continent to American military and geopolitical strategy.

In the past decade the Pentagon has deployed troops, military equipment and ordnance – in some instances missiles – to new locations in Eastern Europe and the Black Sea region, the Middle East including the Persian Gulf, the Indian Ocean, Central and South Asia, Northeast Africa and South America.

The final frontier is Asia from China to Iran, with those parts of it not covered by Central Command assigned to U.S. Pacific Command, the largest overseas military structure in the world. Its area of responsibility takes in India, China and 60 percent of the population of the Earth.

In the 1990s so-called neoconservatives and realists alike from Paul Wolfowitz to Zbigniew Brzezinski triumphed in the emergence of the U.S. as the first, uncontested and only international superpower – what its current head of state Barack Obama called the world’s sole military superpower in Oslo last December – and crafted plans to continue that unparalleled role into the indefinite future. What they agreed on was the need to guarantee that no other nation or group of nations rose to challenge American global supremacy, either on an international or a regional basis.

By regional was understood any part of the world. The most likely rivals would arise in Eurasia, the American geopoliticians warned. The ultimate nightmare for the imperial strategists was some version of what former Russian prime and foreign minister Yevgeny Primakov promoted as a strategic triangle of Russia, China and India.

An Indian commentary of approximately ten years ago described the U.S. counter-strategy as a policy of cultivating closer state-to-state relations with every nation in the world than any of those countries have with any other state, even their neighbors.

Thus the U.S. is arming India and Pakistan, regional military rivals possessing nuclear weapons outside the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty regime, as it is deepening defense ties with other nations on both sides of local conflicts and disputes: Armenia and Azerbaijan over Nagorno-Karabakh, Greece and Turkey over Cyprus and the skies over the Aegean Sea, Croatia and Slovenia over the Adriatic coast, Serbia and Kosovo over the latter, recognized by almost two-thirds of United Nation member states as a province of the former, and so on.

As the American corporate consultant quoted earlier pointed out, the best way of transforming the foreign policy orientation of other countries and subordinating them to Washington’s global political agenda is by penetrating and gaining control over their armed forces.

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization and Africa Command alone have provided the Pentagon mechanisms for initiating and consolidating bilateral military ties with over 100 of the world’s 192 nations (in the UN). NATO and AFRICOM have given the Pentagon a continent apiece. That is in addition to other, frequently older, military client states in Latin America and the Caribbean, the Middle East and the Asia-Pacific region.

By supplying arms to those nations and eliminating traditional rivals for that role, Washington is laying the groundwork for integrating most every country in the world into its military network. Weapons sales are followed by instruction, maintenance, upgrade and field training agreements, with U.S. military personnel assigned to the purchasing nations.

Regional and other multinational air, naval, interceptor missile, armored and ground combat exercises and war games are held to test weapons in live-fire and other maneuvers and to provide the U.S. opportunities for simulated warfare against potential rivals’ equipment, tactics and warfighting doctrine.

Pilots, soldiers, marines and sailors, including special forces, from military client nations are provided training in their own countries, in the U.S. and in third countries to ensure weapons, deployment, command, communication and combat interoperability with the Pentagon for global missions.

This July the Reuters news agency reported that U.S. arms sales abroad could surge from $37.8 billion to $50 billion next year, an increase of almost one-third.

Vice Admiral Jeffrey Wieringa, director of the Pentagon’s Defense Security Cooperation Agency – in charge of international financial and technical assistance, training and services and other military-to-military contacts – estimated a year ago "that weapons sales could reach a record $50 billion this year." [11]

He added that U.S. arms sales have expanded from $8 billion ten years ago to $37.8 for the fiscal year ending this September 30 "and they are likely to continue growing in coming years…."

"Among the biggest potential arms deals on the table now are huge fighter jet competitions in India and Brazil, various modernization programs for Saudi Arabia, and continuing support for arms sales to Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Lebanon."

Wieringa was also cited applauding "a drive by Defense Secretary Robert Gates and other departments to reform cumbersome U.S. export laws," thus opening the floodgates for U.S. weapons sales throughout the world. [12]

Four years ago the New York Times documented that "A total of $21 billion in arms sales agreements were signed from September 2005 to September 2006, compared with $10.6 billion in the previous year," according to Pentagon data. [13]

Nations that had never purchased American weaponry before and that only had negligible armed forces now offer lucrative prospects for American arms manufacturers. India is preeminent in the first category.

The weapons manufacturers’ wares are produced for – deadly – use and not for simple display, deterrence and (dubious) prestige.

Weapons sales are promoted through international arms shows and exhibitions, but more so through actual demonstrations. War games suit that purpose, but war itself does it to a greater degree.

The U.S. offered the world large-scale military hardware expositions in the three wars it launched in less than four years: Yugoslavia in 1999, Afghanistan in 2001 and Iraq in 2003.

The recent announcement that the U.S. will supply Saudi Arabia with a staggering $80 billion worth of arms in the next few years is paralleled by its plans to become India’s main arms provider.

Weapons transactions are inextricably connected with overall military integration, and since 2002 – immediately following the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan and the Pentagon and its NATO allies moving into new military bases in that country, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan – Washington began regular (annual) air, sea and land maneuvers with India of ever-increasing scope and intensity.

Last October 12-29 the U.S. Army participated in the latest and largest of Yudh Abhyas ("training for war") war games held since 2004 with its Indian counterpart. Exercise Yudh Abhyas 2009 featured 1,000 troops, the U.S.’s Javelin anti-tank missile system and the first deployment of American Stryker armored combat vehicles outside the Afghan and Iraqi theaters of war. The Strykers were tested against Indian T-90 tanks, "currently the most modern tank[s] in service with the Russian Ground Forces and Naval Infantry." [14]

The U.S. ambassador to India, Timothy Roemer, said of the military maneuvers: "The broadened and unprecedented scope of Yudh Abhyas stands as a testament to the growing people-to-people and military-to-military ties of the United States and India, one of the key pillars of the expanded U.S.-India strategic partnership." [15]

The Pentagon showcased both the Strykers and the Javelin third generation anti-tank guided missiles during the biggest-ever joint U.S.-Indian ground combat exercises and not without the desired effect.

An American press agency disclosed on September 3 that "Russia has traditionally been India’s largest arms supplier but following evidence of the capabilities of U.S. military equipment during joint exercises with the Indian army, navy and air force, the Indian army decided to purchase several hundred Javelin anti-tank guided missiles, demonstrated during the war games….The Javelins were deployed for Indian forces for the first time in the Yudh Abhyas 09 joint military exercise in Babina, the largest war game that the two armies have had." [16]

Last month the Times of India reported that "India will order a 'large’ number of the quite-expensive Javelin ATGM systems from the US.

"The deal for the man-portable, fire-and-forget Javelin ATGM systems will once again be a direct government-to-government one under the American foreign military sales (FMS) programme, without any global multi-vendor competition.

"While the exact number of Javelin systems India will induct is yet to be
decided, it could well run into thousands. The Army, after all, has a shortfall of around 44,000 ATGMs of different types…." [17]

In July the Raytheon Company announced that India is evaluating the Patriot ground-based anti-ballistic missile system for purchase and deployment and that the U.S. had provided New Delhi with "classified" material on it recently. Sales of Patriot Advanced Capability-3 interceptor missiles to India are reported to be on Barack Obama’s agenda during his November visit.

By acquiring them, India would join fellow Asia-Pacific nations Japan, South Korea and Taiwan as well as NATO members Germany, Spain, the Netherlands and Greece and U.S. Middle East military clients Israel, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

Joseph Garrett, Raytheon vice president and deputy for Patriot programs, disclosed that "A number of exchanges have taken place between the government of India and the US and information has been given to India at the classified level."

Patriots were "successfully used during both Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom, Patriot’s manufacturer Raytheon has said." [18]

Seven consecutive years of Yudh Abhyas war games aren’t the only joint U.S.-Indian military exercises held each year of late. In fact they are full spectrum in their range.

Starting shortly after the end of the Cold War, Washington initiated joint Malabar naval exercises with India. Suspended after the latter’s nuclear tests in 1998, they resumed in 2002 and have grown in scale over the years.

Malabar 2002 included standard maritime maneuvers but also anti-submarine warfare exercises. The 2003 drills featured an American guided missile destroyer, a guided missile cruiser and a nuclear-powered fast attack submarine and two Indian guided missile frigates, a submarine and several aircraft which concentrated on anti-submarine warfare tactics.

2004 saw a continuation of anti-submarine drills and included a U.S. nuclear-powered fast attack submarine and anti-submarine and maritime surveillance aircraft. The next year’s war games featured a U.S. nuclear-powered aircraft supercarrier for the first time and included a 24-hour simulated "war at sea" with the two nations’ navies engaging in mock combat.

In 2006 an American expeditionary strike group (the USS Boxer Expeditionary Strike Group) consisting of over 6,500 U.S. Navy personnel, amphibious ships, cruisers, destroyers and submarines participated in the exercise for the first time. Also, with the inclusion of the Canadian navy the 2006 Malabar exercises expanded for the first time beyond the bilateral format of the preceding two years.

The next year was a watershed one in many respects. Malabar 2007 included 25 warships from five nations: In addition to the U.S. and India, participating countries were Australia, Japan and Singapore, at the time leading to suspicions of American plans to forge an Asian NATO.

The drills were held for the first time in the Bay of Bengal off India’s eastern coast, which further raised Chinese concerns, and extended into the Andaman Sea near the strategic Strait of Malacca.

The U.S. supplied 13 warships including the USS Nimitz nuclear supercarrier, the USS Kitty Hawk aircraft carrier, the USS Chicago nuclear submarine, two guided missile cruisers and six guided missile destroyers. Japan provided two destroyers, Singapore a frigate and Australia a frigate and a tanker.

Malabar 2008 returned to a bilateral context with the involvement of the USS Ronald Reagan Strike Group, a nuclear-powered fast attack submarine and a P-3 Orion anti-submarine plane.

4,000 personnel from three nations – the U.S., India and Japan – participated in last year’s exercise which included anti-submarine warfare, surface warfare, air defense and live-fire gunnery training drills.

Malabar 2010 was conducted in April with ships, submarines, aircraft and personnel from the U.S. Navy’s Seventh Fleet, among which were a nuclear fast attack submarine, two guided missile destroyers, a guided missile cruiser, a guided missile frigate, Sea Hawk helicopters, anti-submarine aircraft and Navy SEALS.

The Pentagon hasn’t been content to exercise its troops and weapons on India’s soil and off its coasts. Starting in 2004 the U.S. has also led annual air combat maneuvers called Cope India.

The first series of bilateral aerial warfare exercises tested U.S. state-of-the-art F-15 Eagle fighters against Russian-made MiG-21, MiG-27, MiG-29 and Sukhoi Su-30 opposite numbers along with French-made Mirage 200 fighters. The U.S. warplanes were consistently bested by their MiG-21 and Su-30 rivals.

The Cope India maneuvers, like comparable ones in Romania and elsewhere in Eastern Europe and the Red Flag air combat exercises in the U.S., provide the Pentagon an opportunity to engage and compete against advanced Russian military aircraft for use in real war scenarios in the future.

Cope India 2005 pitted American F-16 Fighting Falcons against India’s most advanced, largely Russian-produced, fighters in – for the first time in joint U.S.-Indian air exercises – a combat environment controlled by airborne warning and control system (AWACS) aircraft.

The next year over 250 U.S. airmen stationed throughout the Pacific region accompanied F-16 Fighting Falcons to India for Cope India 2006. The F-16s were deployed against the most advanced fighter in the Indian Air Force’s arsenal, the Su-30 MKI (adapted from the Russian Su-30) as well as MiG-21, MiG-27, MiG-29 and Mirage 2000 fighters.

In 2008 an Indian Air Force contingent of eight Su-30 MKI fighters, two Russian-made in-flight refuellers, a Russian heavy lift transport aircraft and almost 250 airmen "winged their way halfway across the globe to the deserts of Nevada," to participate in an Exercise Red Flag, held three or four times a year in Nevada and Alaska and "acknowledged to be the most advanced and professionally challenging fighter exercise conducted anywhere in the world." [19]

The exercise marked several precedents: It included the largest single deployment of the Indian Air Force outside India. It was the first time that the air forces of nations not in NATO or those of major non-NATO allies – India and South Korea – participated in Red Flag air combat maneuvers. "It was also the first time that the SU30 MKI, a frontline combat aircraft of Russian design, made its appearance in the American skies and that too in a multi-national congregation." [20]

India was elevated to the status of an American strategic military ally, on the level of a NATO partner, on June 28, 2005 when U.S. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld and Indian Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee signed the New Framework for the U.S.-India Defense Relationship, in effect a ten-year defense pact.

India has become the convergence point for the U.S.-led NATO bloc moving from the west into Central and South Asia and the expansion of an Asia-Pacific NATO growing from its Japan-Australia-South Korea-Taiwan nucleus to absorb the ten members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN): Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Mongolia, New Zealand and the five former Soviet Central Asian republics – Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan – are to varying degrees being integrated into the structure as well.

India is also intended as a central locus for the U.S. global interceptor missile grid based on land and sea and in the air and space, linking deployments in Eastern Europe, the Eastern Mediterranean, the South Caucasus and the Middle East to those in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Australia and Alaska, including the latter’s Aleutian Islands.

Moving the Asian giant into the Pentagon’s column will not only affect the balance of forces in Asia but throughout the world.

Madsen also reported on the Sociopath’s sexual relationships with other men, including politicians and Donald Young, the openly gay choir director of the church in Chicago of which Obama was a member for some 20 years — Jeremy Wright’s Trinity United Church of Christ black liberation theology. Obama’s relationship with Young was confirmed by Larry Sinclair, who claims to have had two sex-cocaine trysts with Obama.

There were two other openly gay men in Wright’s church: Larry Bland and Nate Spencer. In late 2007, as Obama began his ascent to be the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee, in a span of 1½ months, all three men “conveniently” died:

Bland was murdered execution-style on November 17, 2007;
Young was murdered execution-style on December 24, 2007;
Spencer reportedly died of septicemia, pneumonia, and HIV on December 26, 2007.

This is according to Israel Today here. Here is the passage from the May 2010 issue of "Israel Today." It is on page 3 in an article titled "Obama, a 'Strategic Catastrophe,'" by Aviel Schneider:

The feeling among the Israeli public is that Obama is appeasing the Muslim world at the expense of Israel. “The American President told me in confidence that he is a Muslim,” said Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit on Nile TV.


That could explain why Obama has instructed that the term “Islamic extremism” no longer be used in official government documents and statements. Furthermore, the US is now accusing Israel of harming American interests in the Middle East. General David Petraeus, the head of US Central Command, said Israel’s intransigence on resolving the conflict with the Palestinians is endangering US forces in Iraq and Afghanistan. Even the US Congress considers Obama’s behavior toward Netanyahu humiliating. Three-quarters of the House of Representatives, 337 of 435 members, signed a bipartisan letter to Clinton expressing “deep concern over recent tension” between the two countries, and demanding that it be smoothed over quickly and in private.

“Obama is a real problem for Israel,” a senior official told told Yediot. “He is Israel’s biggest strategic catastrophe.” The newspaper also quoted another official who believes that for the first time Washington has switched sides. “The Obama White House is putting pressure only on Israel but does not expect anything from the Palestinians,” he said. “These American demands are unacceptable.”

Obama Lacks a True American Voice

In this current climate of polarization between Republicans and Democrats, Conservatives and Progressives, Independents and Liberals, Peaceful and non-violent TEA Party activists and the violent, agitators/ Union thugs (e.g. SEIU), and the Birthers and their detractors etc., it is often necessary to scrutinize and dissect articles that any blog owner decides to include as a link in their post.

[Update: Ultimately, all of these conflicting ideologies can be included under the banner of the battle between free enterprise and statism (socialism, Marxism, Communism). See the videos over at Daily Thought Pad]

Case in point.

Legal Insurrection blog has a post up with excerpts from a Wall Street Journal Opinion Commentator - Dorothy Rabinowitz, who writes a stinging article about Barack Obama's "alien" status as our current Resident in Chief. [Note: Resident in Chief are my words, not hers.]

However, her use of the word "alien" in the article is probably not what you might first think!

Let me begin with a small portion of all (which is most of it) that I agree with in her article.

Excerpts:

The deepening notes of disenchantment with Barack Obama now issuing from commentators across the political spectrum were predictable. So, too, were the charges from some of the president's earliest enthusiasts about his failure to reflect a powerful sense of urgency about the oil spill.

There should have been nothing puzzling about his response to anyone who has paid even modest critical attention to Mr. Obama's pronouncements. For it was clear from the first that this president—single-minded, ever-visible, confident in his program for a reformed America saved from darkness by his arrival—was wanting in certain qualities citizens have until now taken for granted in their presidents. Namely, a tone and presence that said: This is the Americans' leader, a man of them, for them, the nation's voice and champion. Mr. Obama wasn't lacking in concern about the oil spill. What he lacked was that voice—and for good reason.

Those qualities to be expected in a president were never about rhetoric; Mr. Obama had proved himself a dab hand at that on the campaign trail. They were a matter of identification with the nation and to all that binds its people together in pride and allegiance. These are feelings held deep in American hearts, unvoiced mostly, but unmistakably there and not only on the Fourth of July.

A great part of America now understands that this president's sense of identification lies elsewhere, and is in profound ways unlike theirs. He is hard put to sound convincingly like the leader of the nation, because he is, at heart and by instinct, the voice mainly of his ideological class.

The next sentence is quite ironic. She simultaneously labels Obama as an "alien," (meaning that he is not like any of our previous American presidents); yet reveals her absolute disdain and rejection of the so-called "Birthers":

He is the alien in the White House, a matter having nothing to do with delusions about his birthplace cherished by the demented fringe.

Hmmm....

Well....

The last part of that sentence should delight the detractors of Talk Wisdom's coverage regarding Obama's ineligibility! I have been accused of being a racist, un-Christian, a tin foil hat wearer...and the list goes on. Now the haters of my blog can add "demented fringe" to the list!

HA HA HA HAAAAAA! For some reason, I find this all very humorous!

Even though I, and millions more Americans who want to see Obama's bona fide records have good reason to doubt that he is telling the truth about his birth place, I will take that derogatory label and wear it proudly. One day, the truth will come out. The fact is that Obama is hiding SOMETHING. What it is - we cannot know for sure. But it has to be big and very important in order for him to spend 2 million dollars to keep the lawsuit investigations out of court.

Ms. Rabinowitz might be correct about this:

Long after Mr. Obama leaves office, it will be this parade of explicators, laboring mightily to sell each new piece of official reality revisionism—Janet Napolitano and her immortal "man-caused disasters'' among them—that will stand most memorably as the face of this administration.

...because Obama's residency in the White House and his corrupt parade of cronies really ARE "new piece(s) of official reality revision(ists)!" But I disagree that it will stand as the MOST memorable feat of this alien residency. IMO, there will be MUCH MORE that will be revealed and Americans will be wiping their brows after the long, hard, and very difficult struggle it will take to keep our Constitutional Republic, liberty and freedom alive. One day, we will all be saying WHEW! THAT WAS A CLOSE CALL! We will be celebrating our hard-earned ESCAPE from the journey into serfdom that the revolutionary Marxists/Islamo-Fascists tried to do here in the United States of America!

Thank God that the reality of the danger we face with this gangster government is finally sinking into the minds of most Americans!

In regards to the distance between Obama's terrible ideology and that of most loyal, patriotic, Constitution affirming and Declaration of Independence believing Americans (even some of the rabid leftists in the Lamestream Media of Mass Deception are questioning Obama's extreme ideology now!!) Ms. Rabinowitz concludes:

The truth about that distance is now sinking in, which is all to the good. A country governed by leaders too principled to speak the name of its mortal enemy needs every infusion of reality it can get.

Three days after I posted Please Share This Information With EVERYONE You Know!, Glenn Beck recognized Trevor Loudon, author of New Zeal blog on his radio show (Monday morning, 5/3/10). It is a well-deserved recognition, because this gentleman blogger has been keeping many blog readers here in the United States well informed of information that the Lamestream Media of Mass Deception refuses to report about Obama.

Interestingly, Glenn mentioned asking Trevor (paraphrased here), 'you don't live here in America (he lives in New Zealand), so why are you doing this?' Trevor answered and said something similar to this: 'Because if the U.S. goes down, so does New Zealand.'

It is becoming increasingly clear that Barack Obama did not create a movement. A movement created Barack Obama.

One of the key leaders of that movement is a Madison, Wisconsin, law professor and sociologist - Joel Rogers.

While not widely known outside "progressive" circles, few people have exercised more influence in more strands of the movement that selected and elected Barack Obama, than has Joel Rogers.

Obama's former "Green Jobs" Czar, the Marxist-Leninist Van Jones has been part of Rogers' network for some years.

Rogers has served with Jones on the board of the Apollo Alliance , a radical led coalition of green groups and labor unions that had considerable input in writing Obama's massive "stimulus package". Rogers has served as Senior Policy Adviser to Jones' Oakland based Green For All - the Northern California affiliate of the Apollo Alliance.

In the video below Van Jones, takes time in his address to the January 2009 Mayors Innovation Project conference to praise his friend Rogers.Jones points out three "great gifts" that Joel Rogers "has given our movement".

Firstly, there is "a new economic model ...high road development ...the best thinking that he represents is now reflected in the White House."

Secondly , "...the New Party, which is now the Working Families Party...the idea of a 'new politics' that you could actually have in this country bringing together labor, civil rights, feminists...and actually make a difference...is the basic framework for what just took over the White House."

Thirdly, ..."his idea of a new energy paradigm. His founding the Apollo Alliance. I believe the stimulus is going to put something like $80 billion in this direction..."Jones credits Rogers with dreaming up the White House economic model - basically a 21st century "green" version of corporate socialism. Rogers also allegedly masterminded the electoral alliance that put Obama in the driver's seat. He then founded the organization that helped write the "stimulus bill", which is now funneling billions into a movement primarily designed to keep the Obama and the Democrats in power.

That's a lot of influence for one man. Does Van Jones exaggerate? Let's investigate.

There is so much information in that article, it is mind boggling! For now, I just want to mention one thing that I observed while traveling on a toll road here in California. In both directions, there are large signs up that flag stimulus projects. These signs cost MILLIONS - according to that Washington Times article! In the case of the freeway - oops - I mean toll road in California - there is NO CONSTRUCTION of any kind going on across the entire stretch of the road!!!

"These are self-congratulatory signs; they're political signs. They're so that lawmakers can pat themselves on the back," he said. "But these signs cost money. Actually, when you add them all up, they cost a lot of money."

Some localities have objected to the signs, arguing that they would rather spend the money on more projects. But Mr. Gregg said one community in New Hampshire was told no sign, no money for their original project.

"We do enough self-congratulating around here. They shouldn't make the taxpayers pay for it," he said.

Yup. I wholeheartedly agree!

But the signs being up at that toll road seem disingenuous, at best. Why? For two reasons. Motorists are PAYING for the use of the road. Also, there is no visible example of construction or road paving going on. Yet, the signs are there.

I wonder. How many of these stimulus bill signs are up with no visible evidence of work going on? Is this just another scam from the ObaMARXIST administration? Looks like it!

When we see what Glenn Beck and blogger Trevor Loudon have discovered and revealed about those who were involved in writing the stimulus bill, is there any doubt that money laundering is going on within, and through these criminal organizations that have direct ties to the Obama Administration - just as is listed on Beck's chalkboard?

*Sigh....* If only we had an honest media here in America - one that is willing to report the TRUTH instead of being groveling, cowering, and bowing idiots at the feet of ObaMARXIST!

Last year we showed you a book, a communist handbook for France and Europe: "The Coming Insurrection." Put out by the Invisible Committee, it says that the time to take the system is now.. It urges people to get into the streets and be violent. The May Day protests this weekend were just a small preview of what we can expect in the very near future here in America.

When you read about the very powerful, rich, ruthless, and (formerly) secretive people who are working their wizardry behind the curtain, we can easily surmise that Obama is just a pawn on the chessboard of evil Marxo-Fascist criminals who are attempting to "fundamentally transform America."

Beck had a great point, both on his radio show and during his T.V. show presentation yesterday. He told a brief story, and it went like this:

If you told your wife, "honey, I love you SO MUCH - I love everything about you." However, because I love you so much, I want to fundamentally transform you."

What would your wife think of that kind of statement? Does that sound logical to you? Then why does ANYONE think that Obama's "fundamental transformation" of America is a good thing??

IT ISN'T! As Glenn stated, we might strive to RESTORE America, and make it better. But most Americans want the Constitution followed when doing things and passing bills that will make America a better place to live. We want to RESTORE liberty, freedom, and national security - not transform America in a Marxo-Fascist fairytale land like Oz of the Emerald City - who turned out to be a small, weak, bad man behind the mask of a frightening display of faux power - just to scare people into compliance.

Switching gears a bit, I wanted to share some information that has been written about Obama over at HillBuzz. I don't normally link to a blog written by gay Democrat men, but this blog is very different from the rabid leftist progressives who still refuse to see the danger that Obama's Crime Inc. imposes upon America.

The writing is excellent at that blog. They recently announced that they are approaching 9 million hits! It is for that reason that I am inclined to believe that they are posting the truth. Perhaps it is only "as they see it," but the following two posts appear to be very sincere:

This is a bit old (only by four days, but in blogging it's a lifetime!) but it exposes an example of deliberate disinformation that is being put out there, in radical Alinsky fashion, that is intended to distract the public from the REAL issues.

Why does the White House feel the need to put out stories about the president being a randy stud — who loves women?

The only thing we can think of is that David Axelrod is trying to put the image of a virile, womanizing Obama out there ahead of a himbo eruption — or possibly some kind of retribution from Kal Penn, more upset about Obama breaking things off with him and booting him from the White House than anyone thought he would be.

OR, more interestingly than that, we wonder what Reggie Love is doing right now. Is he happy in the White House? He hasn’t been in the news in months, and we have not spotted him in any of the photos coming out of the press pool in a while. Where’s Reggie Love? Now, if he and Obama are on the outs, then things could get REALLY INTERESTING.

Perhaps the world would finally know what a “body man” really does.

But the original post isn't even the best part. Go read the comments! There are over 400! However, you can skip over the mini-threads where people go of on their own tangents, and just read the really important ones that reveal more about Obama than even I ever wanted to know...

O.K. So why have I linked these two stories together?

In my opinion, Obama's behavior shows that he isn't running the show in Washington. There are Big Kahunas - far above his pay grade - who are actually running (more like RUINING) our nation through the Crime Inc. web of evil and deceit that is going on in Washington D.C. right now.

Powerful and rich people are pulling Obama's strings. He is their marionette, and they are the puppeteers. I always thought that George Soros was the biggest fish in the pond of scum, but Joel Rogers has turned out to be the Grand Poopah of the Emerald Cities Crime Inc. syndicate.

I wonder. Are the decent Democrats out there (who haven't done so yet - million already have) ever going to turn against this ObaMatrix of Crime? Will the Media of Mass Deception ever turn on Obama because of his destructive policies that the pawn on the chessboard of Crime Inc. is spewing out of Washington D.C.?

We are living in extremely dangerous times. I am praying that God will intervene in such a way that we will instinctively know that HE turned the Marxo-Fascist regime on it's head and allowed us to restore America to her former greatness. Then we will know that His grace and protection remains upon us!

Pray people!! Continue to pray for our nation and that this national nightmare will experience a huge blow against their evil and a glimmer of redemption will be realized in November, 2010. We need Conservative leadership in the House and Senate to prevent any more of Obama's outrageous policies from ever passing again!

"The Manchurian President" is a new book that I plan to read. I heard a portion of an interview today between the author, Aaron Klein, and conservative radio talk show host Michael Savage.

The Washington Post Photo Blooper

Most blog readers probably already know about The Washington Post's newspaper photo blooper today. They printed a photo of Malcolm X above a column that was supposed to be about Obama touting wind energy in Iowa.

You can see a photo of the page over at Gateway Pundit: The Washington Post confused Barack Obama today with black radical Malcolm X.

In the comment section, I clicked on a familiar video that compared the likenesses of Malcolm X and Obama. As I viewed the additional videos at the bottom of the YouTube box, I ran across one that I had not seen before. The discussion of the "Venus cleft," seen on both Malcolm and Obama, as a component of heredity, is quite intriguing. The comparisons of Obama's children with Malcolm's relatives is uncanny as well.

Is Obama A Marxist? Answer: YES!

While attempting to answer several questions from Kevin in the blog post comment thread here, I thought that I would bring the conversation to a new blog post. Why? For several reasons. I think that it is extremely important for conservatives to continually educate the public, via blogs, books, videos, etc. about the true nature of Obama. This is a very important issue.

My first inclination was to reply, what ISN'T Marxist about Obama and his policies!!?? It is so clear to anyone paying any attention to what is going on in the White House and Congress, it seems to me that the question doesn't even need to be asked! However, since Kevin did ask (several times) for a reply from me, I thought that it would be best to be thorough and present as much evidence as possible. [Note: Do not miss the videos over at Investigating Obama. A man who KNEW Obama in his younger years reveals much evidence that Obama was, and still is a Marxist. In fact, he goes so far as to claim that Obama is a revolutionary Marxist activist!

I think that the question is not "why is it being pointed out," but why has it been purposely hidden? A blogging friend of mine once wrote that he thinks Obama (and all of his cohorts) want to hide his Muslim roots.

A while back, Glenn Beck had a segment on his show about all of the radial socialists, Marxists, Communists, and Maoists who influenced Obama throughout his entire life. He did a quick recap of Obama's life from childhood to adulthood. What I found odd was that Beck left out Obama Jr's. adoption by Lolo Soetoro, the move to Indonesia, and the fact that Obama was taught Muslim practices during his early childhood schooling there. Why did Beck leave that out? Perhaps because of a time constraint. But I think that it had a lot to do with not revealing to the public Obama's Muslim schooling and roots. The Fox News Channel is 17% owned by Saudis - and keeping such information from the public might be deemed important to them.

In another comment, you wanted me to tell you why I think that Obama is a Marxist. One telling sign is that he has been surrounded by, and influenced by them his entire life! But don't just take my word for it. You can read :

Kevin, the majority of Americans are now on to Obama, his lies, and all of his terrible schemes. He will become a lame duck after the November 2010 elections and hopefully his disastrous bills will all be repealed. He will be a one term president OTP and our nation will be back to having a sane leader again in 2012 (if not sooner because hopefully, one of the lawsuits pointing out his obvious ineligibility might get a hearing before then).
