30 years old: A Look Back

Dear readers,

Wow, in 12 days I will be a 30 - year- old woman! Okay, by the date of this post, it's a little longer; but, as usual, I'm running behind.

30 years? Has it really been that long? I have to admit that time has flown by for me the last 10 years. I've been busy that's for sure; first, getting my Associates Degree in general studies from a community college in Michigan and then continuing my education at a Lutheran University. It's been amazing to see how far I have come. Most of which, I can't really explain because I've forgotten how I used to be. My parents could give you their own interpretation because they can probably remember my youth better than I can ! I have a feeling that is one of my "side effects" of the baclofen, but no one can tell me for sure.

Anyway, I've grown a lot since then. Greatly due to the overwhelming support of family and friends. As I've said many times before, college played an instrumental role in my growth process. experience allowed me to see what exactly was possible in terms of my future. I was able to "spread my wings" and see my life for what it would eventually be- a life on my own, separate from my parents. Scary as I was for my parents, I relished in the opportunity. It was during that time that I saw life for what it was.. At its best, having friends who accepted me DESPITE my disability, not BECAUSE of it and helping me to accept my disability as well. At its worst, it reminded me how important advocacy will remain to be in my life. In summary, I must always be aware of my disability without letting it dominate my life.

As time passes, though, I find the roles reversing. Why? Maybe it's simply my age or getting caught up in the world, I don't know. It's not like I've lost my confidence; I still want to write. It's all I'm really good at (besides advocating, that is).. I just wonder whether my story (my life and my book) have reached its full potential and stopped growing.

I can't imagine what my future holds and that scares me. As a child, everything seemed so simple having my parents around to protect and guide me. But now, things are changing!

I'm on my own..

Yet, I'm not!

Unchecked Power Yielded by Megalomaniacs

Wow! The following article is certainly chilling... very chilling in fact! What makes it all the more important to read and pay attention to is the fact that the writer admits to being a recovering liberal!

The Shock of Barack
posted by null at American Thinker - 11 hours ago
I've been feeling funky since Black Sunday, the day of the health care debacle. As a therapist, I'm usually able to identify my feelings. But this one had left me stumped.

Excerpts:

It took a conversation with a conservative friend, Nancy, for me to pinpoint the feeling. Nancy told me that a Jewish co-worker, a staunch Obama supporter, was feeling "shell-shocked" by Obama's vilifying Israel.

Bingo. That's what it is: stunned, shell-shocked, traumatized.

[T]rauma means witnessing something that humans are not designed to see, a horror that is more than the self can absorb. The brutality of war, a gruesome crime scene, the sudden death of a loved one. Or the evil that unfolds through unchecked power yielded by megalomaniacs.

For me, trauma was that cloudless November day, years ago, when I exited an Oakland restaurant at noon and soon thereafter, lay prone on the concrete, bloody and broken.

Just moments before, I had looked into the eyes of a man who didn't know that I was human, or who knew but didn't care. I saw something sinister in him, but I ignored my gut. I was still steeped in liberal political correctness and didn't want to appear racially insensitive.

When I see what Obama is doing to this country, how he is treating its citizens, I'm reminded of the man who mugged me. I think that both are constitutionally incapable of seeing our humanity. And each day that Obama is in office, he communicates this same deadly message to the masses -- that opponents are not human.

This would explain the burgeoning of hate and even violence towards those who deign to disagree. And why Tea Party members and conservatives are being targeted, as well as entire countries like Israel.

And this would illuminate why Obama is unfazed while the economy crashes. And why he cavalierly demonizes Israel, putting millions of Israelis at risk. And it explains why Obama mocks conservatives who are legitimately worried about this administration's violating fundamental rights.

But how could Obama see us? Did anyone in his childhood ever see him?

Read it all here.

She concludes:

From what I have seen this last year, Obama shows no ability to walk in another person's shoes. This would require empathy and sensitivity, traits that are nowhere to be found.

Frankly, every time I see Obama, I catch a glimpse of the man who mugged me.

And that, to me, is the true danger and horror and shock of Barack.

The Subject That Just Won't Go Away

This morning I heard (but didn't actually view the videotape) that Obama discussed the TEA Party movement. According to the report, one of the things that he stated about the movement is that many of the TEA Party participants, "do not believe that he (Obama) was born in America."

Why does he keep bringing this up? Isn't that a bit strange? If it has no merit (as I'm sure he's claiming), then why keep the issue in the news? Is it only to discredit the TEA Party movement and participants - in order to dismiss their legitimate concerns and grievances?

Must be.

Even though the Dems and the Media of Mass Deception still try and play the "race card" against all who stand firm against Obama dreadful policies - it just isn't working anymore! People aren't that stupid.

I thought that I had read absolutely everything about Obama's citizenship questions, but I have found a new article that is so comprehensive that even I discovered some new information!

Investigating Obama

Nantz: 'The Year the Tournament Changed'

On-court action the past three weeks limited discussion about expansion of the NCAA Tournament, but the voice of the Final Four -- CBS Sports play-by-play man Jim Nantz -- said Monday that he believes this year's tournament, with many higher seeds winning games, provides ample reason for change.

"I think people will look at 2010 as the year the tournament changed," Nantz said during a teleconference with CBS on-air talent and production personnel. Although analyst Clark Kellogg said the NCAA has evaluated expansion scenarios with 68, 80 or 96 teams, Nantz said there were only two options. "Eighty's not a consideration. It'll either stay where it is or go to 96."

And Nantz said this year's event provided many reasons why expansion would be good for the event.

Studio analyst Greg Anthony agreed: "There's just not much difference between the best and the rest anymore."

Their perspective was one that's been surprisingly long in coming during this tournament. As mid-majors advanced and upsets broke brackets across the country, it seemed more and more like someone would eventually make the case that a bigger tournament was the answer -- and that this year's event was a prime example. Someone, specifically Nantz, finally made that case Monday, and his colleagues joined the chorus.

Of course, you have to wonder about the timing -- because supporting and expanded tournament certainly could be good business for CBS. Just because the NCAA has hinted about rebidding the event does not mean that the current rights holder is precluded from bidding itself. Also, with dates for future Final Fours already set through 2016 (it goes to Houston in 2011), it would be hard, but not impossible, for the NCAA to make a significant expansion overnight. By showing its support for a bigger event, CBS could certainly indicate that it has plans to pay for a bigger tournament if the two parties stay the course through what remains of their current agreement.

As CBS prepares for this weekend's Final Four, network officials said they were excited about the quartet of teams that will converge on Indianapolis this week. The group includes perennial powers in Duke and Michigan State as well as West Virginia and Butler.

Some believe (and, of course, they must) that the tournament has already changed -- especially without big-name, tradition-rich programs such as Kansas, Kentucky, North Carolina or UCLA involved in the Final Four.

"The storylines that have developed this year have made this a little bit different tournament," said CBS Sports and News president Sean McManus. "We've got two schools with good heritage and tradition and we've got two other good stories. It's dependent, as most Final Fours are, on the closeness of the games. I think we're going to be fine."

While Duke brings some star power to the event, McManus compared the Final Four to February's Super Bowl, which was without a major-market team but still set ratings and viewership records.

"The story of New Orleans and that that city had been through actually turned out to be one of the most compelling storylines in recent years," he said.

Sentencing the Unborn to Death for Earmarks

Jesus Christ is THE wisest God-man who ever walked the face of the earth. Oops...correction! Jesus Christ is THE ONLY GOD-MAN who ever walked the face of the earth! (I have another correction to make regarding a recent post, but more on that a bit.)

When you read Jesus' words as recorded in the Bible (find a red-letter edition), a person cannot help but come to the realization that Jesus IS THE WAY, THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE. Jesus himself declared, "no one comes to the Father but by me." Not a politically correct statement in today's world - but it's THE TRUTH! Jesus proved that he was, is, and forevermore will be. He existed within the Godhead before Creation, he became the God-man within His Creation, and died, rose from the dead, and is exalted in heaven for who He is - the Savior of the world!

This means that it has NOTHING to do with religion! It has EVERYTHING to do with a PERSON - and that Person is Jesus Christ! It has to do with a relationship; one that is made between sinners (a category in which we all belong) and the SAVIOR. What a person does with the Gospel message determines whether or not he/she can be considered "one of Jesus' own." That means that we belong to Him, at the moment of conversion, throughout our earthly lives, and into eternity.

When we are "one of His own" we CHOOSE to do what he commands of us. Jesus stated, "if you love me, keep my commandments." "Thou shall not kill" is one of those commandments!

Jesus never minced words. He flatly stated that those who refuse to repent, confess their sins at the foot of the Cross of Calvary, and accept Him as their Lord and Savior are LOST. They haven't been forgiven and cannot claim to be "one of His own." Jesus flatly stated in Scripture that those who would claim to have "prophesied in his name" will not get away with their lies. Jesus knows who are his own - and those who aren't will be told as such.

Look at what the Old Testament has to say about "evildoers":

Isa 1:4 Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward.

Read what Jesus had to say towards those who would falsely claim to be one of his:

Mat 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

Luk 6:46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?

Luk 13:22 ¶ And he went through the cities and villages, teaching, and journeying toward Jerusalem.

Luk 13:23 Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them,

Luk 13:24 Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.

Luk 13:25 When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are:

Note NKJV:

NKJV - Luk 13:25 - NKJV
When once the Master of the house has risen up and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock at the door, saying, 'Lord, Lord, open for us,' and He will answer and say to you, 'I do not know you, where you are from,'

Luk 13:26 Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets.

Luk 13:27 But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all [ye] workers of iniquity.

Look at that last verse of Scripture once again. Harsh words for "workers of iniquity" aren't' they? They are being told to DEPART FROM THE LORD OF THE UNIVERSE! What a terrible place to be - for all eternity.

Now, shifting gears a bit, recall a recent post where I questioned just what it was that caused Rep. Bart Stupak to change his vote on the health care bill? I wrote:

Either Stupak got duped... or, he was pressured and THREATENED by the ObaMAO THUGS to change his "NO" vote to a "yes."

Perhaps he was "pressured" but in a different way than I had previously understood it. Today, Gateway Pundit is reporting: ‘Stupak 11′ Request $3.4 Billion in Earmarks the Day After Their Pro-Abortion Obamacare Vote

This means that Stupak and 10 other so-called "pro-life" Democrats ended up giving up their protection of the unborn stance, and instead deliberately dropped their fight not to allow taxpayer funding to go to abortions. These people all have dirty, bloody, murderous hands in the sentencing of more of the unborn to death for WHAT? EARMARKS! MONEY!!!

How disgustingly unbelievable and devastating it is to find out that their greed for money in the form of earmarks persuaded these people to sentence more of the unborn in our nation to death - and they agreed to do it using THE TAX DOLLARS OF WE THE PEOPLE! Can you think of anything more despicable than this???

The Bible reveals what God in heaven thinks of this:

Isa 1:4 Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward.

Jesus reiterates:

Luk 13:26 Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets.

Luk 13:27 But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all [ye] workers of iniquity.

These people sold their own souls - and the soul of our nation for earmark money. They should be SO ASHAMED!!!!

Easter Is Coming

Okay,
So Easter is coming in two days: not according to the date of this post but the date I'm actually writing this. (I'm late by a couple weeks, I know!) Anyway, if you're anything like me, sometimes you can get caught up in life and forget the meaning behind these holidays. That's happened to me this Easter. I don't know exactly what exactly it happened, but I seem to have gotten caught up in the days.. Planning ahead, taking things for granted! That's when I got a reality check through Facebook. My friends had their priorities straight. They weren't concerned about their weekend plans on their status, but instead took the time to remind me of the miraculous resurrection that occurred on Easter.

Which leads me to a moment of personal reflection: Why have I forgotten the Lord? I know I'm only human and I'm prone to make mistakes. But still, my life is not a game or rehearsal, it is in fact an opportunity. By sharing my struggle, I hope to keep my fellow readers from the same obstacle or at least show you that you are the alone.

That being said, my status on Facebook now reads:

Have I forgotten you O Lord? "Cast me not from your presence, oh Lord; take not your Holy Spirit from me. But restore unto me the joy of your salvation.." I can't remember exactly where these lyrics are from but that pretty much describes what I'm feeling right now. Please remember why we celebrate Easter everyone!

Duke-WVU Set for Prime Time in Final Four

After a hometown lead-in for the Final Four, with Indianapolis-based Butler facing Michigan State at 6:07 p.m. in the national semifinal Saturday, CBS Sports set Duke vs. West Virginia as the late game. The tip time is tentatively set for 8:47 p.m. (depending, of course, on how long it takes the first game to finish).

TV darling Duke -- the only No. 1 seed to reach the Final Four -- appropriately gets the later start because it drives ratings.

Even though the program has not reached the Final Four in five years, Duke remains a known commodity. Casual fans know Coach K. And, despite the rants of ESPN's Dick Vitale and others, people do either love or hate the Blue Devils. That makes for familiarity, and for strong TV ratings.

'Going Home' Line Lasts Through Weekend

Credit Butler coach Brad Stevens with the line of the weekend, a line from Saturday afternoon that had lasting power thoughout the weekend quartet games that set the Final Four.

When analyst Len Elmore asked Stevens if he was excited about his team "going home" to Indianapolis for the Final Four after beating Kansas State, the coach offered a correct and off-hand, "Well, we were going home no matter what," and he was not begin smart with his response -- just accurate.
Maybe that matter-of-fact approach played a part in the team's success.

It sounded a bit like Elmore was taken aback by the response, though. He recovered from it initially, seeming to laugh along with the obvious punch line for which he had played the straight man, but Elmore then made reference to "going home" a couple more times in their brief post-game interview, which either hinted that he was ticket at Edwards for hitting his softball question out of the park or at himself for asking it in the first place.
It was not dead after the game, either. On Sunday, when Jim Nance and Clark Kellogg talked about games during the Final Four during the end of their work on Duke-Baylor, Nance again mentioned Butler going home, and he sounded like he was smiling when he said it.
Apparently, the matter had become a bit of shared an inside joke -- and hopefully because it was a good thing and not because anyone thought Elmore was at fault or Stevens was being disrespectful.

Passing Touch and Passing Responsibility

Two games Saturday set half of the field for the Final Four, and they provided a glimpse of a play-by-play man who deserves more high-profile assignments as well as an interesting look at how TV analysts/experts often fail to shoulder responsibility when they're wrong.

Unfortunately, it's not likely the announcer will get better assignments during the NCAA Tournament or that those analysts and experts will change their approach.

First, the announcer. Play-by-play man Gus Johnson, whose work draws regular raves at this time of year (as it should all year round), put together another stellar effort working with Len Elmore as Butler defeated Kansas State. Johnson brought accuracy, emotion and energy to the assignment, setting up Elmore, who capably found spots for interesting comments and insights. They're a solid announcing team that works well with each other and entertains and informs viewers -- a perfect TV match.

After the Butler game, when Johnson led the telecast through all the correct high points (OK, a some a little earlier than necessary with several minutes remaining in the game), CBS Sports moved to West Virginia-Kentucky, called by Dick Enberg and Jay Bilas.

It was a stark contrast, with Enberg fumbling a bit during the intro to the second game. Still, Enberg-Bilas also represent another solid TV match. They're understated compared to Johnson-Elmore, but Enberg eventually found his rhythm during the game and the underappreciated Bilas provided quality analysis to match the regional final assignment.

With Enberg leaving college basketball assignments after this season's tournament (meaning Saturday was his final game), a spot higher on the pecking order of announce teams for the events would seem open for Johnson.

A logical move would be to keep Johnson-Elmore together and find another partner for Bilas -- he's a worthy member of a top team but it would be insanity to break up Johnson-Elmore.

But, and it's a big but, CBS Sports might not have the tournament next year and Johnson could be left out of the action on an ESPN-controlled event. Many expect the NCAA to opt out of its current TV deal before an August deadline to do so, look for more money and potentially expand the event in the future.

If that were to happen, Johnson could just get shut out of a bigger role -- despite regularly proving he deserves one.

Now, those analysts and experts. They continually prove they cannot admit they were wrong.

Again, the Butler game was a perfect example. Nobody on CBS pre-game studio show picked Butler and most people at ESPN also expected a Kansas State victory.

After Butler controlled the game and advanced to the Final Four, nobody, nobody at all, said they were surprised or wrong. Instead, it was revisionist history -- pointing to when they (the basketball media) were collectively correct earlier -- or citing things that sounded like excuses.

Both Greg Anthony on CBS and Dick Vitale on ESPN pointed to the fact that Butler should not be a surprise, and that the team was a top-10 pick during the preseason. Never mind that they both said Butler would lose when previewing the game.

Guest CBS analyst Bill Self, the Kansas coach, said Butler did a great job reacting and rebounding when it was trailing in the game. (Vitale also made the same point.) OK, that's a nice example of giving credit when deserved, but Self could've offered more insight there. It was an example begging for more details from a coach. What do you say? What do you not say? How do you keep a team calm or motivate them at a time like that?

Finally, Seth Davis said K-State looked tired after playing a double overtime game in the regional semifinal. Really? A game two-days earlier was an appropriate excuse? Especially for college players at the top level who often played multiple games during the same day during their summer basketball leagues.

Maybe our experts sometimes just need to say they were surprised or wrong. That would be an important improvement for TV sports.

Top Team Gets Final Word on Final Four

CBS Sports has set tip times for Sunday's regional finals in the NCAA Tournament. They are:

2:20 p.m. -- Michigan State vs. Tennessee (Verne Lundquist/Bill Raftery)
5:05 p.m. -- Duke vs. Baylor (Jim Nantz/Clark Kellogg)

The timing puts the remaining No. 1 seed and usual TV favorite Duke into a timeslot that could overrun into prime time and before "60 Minutes" and draw as many viewers, and ratings, as any game this weekend.

It also features the No. 1 on-air team for CBS Sports, Jim Nantz/Clark Kellogg, giving that duo the featured spot and final word on network TV regarding the tournament before next week's Final Four -- when they'll call all three games.

The Number Seven

The words of the LORD are pure words, like silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
Psalm 12:6

Psalm 12

As we study the Bible, we can't help noticing the number seven holds a unique place in God's economy. It is mentioned 735 times in Scripture, and it conveys the idea of perfection. It was on the seventh day God rested from the creation, and in so doing created our week. Noah took clean beasts by sevens into the ark. Jacob served seven years each for Leah and Rachel. Egypt had seven years of both plenty and famine. The candlestick in the Tabernacle had seven branches, and the Jewish feasts were observed seven days.

Jesus told us to forgive our brothers seventy times seven, and He spoke seven last words on the cross. In John's Gospel, He performed seven signs and uttered seven "I Am" statements. Revelation gives us seven churches, seven seals, seven trumpets, and seven years of tribulation.

It is possible to over-interpret biblical numerology, but it's hard to miss the number seven. It tells us that God is perfect, His word is faultless, and He wants to bring fullness of blessings to our lives--seven days a week.

The number seven is stamped on the times and seasons of Scripture, marking the spiritual perfection of the Divine Prophecies.

Without the Consent of the Governed

Oftentimes, a really great blog post article is followed by some excellent comments. I think that this is the case when one reads the latest Post & Email article:

The Subversion of our government is occurring from within
WITHOUT THE CONSENT OF THE GOVERNED
by JB Williams, ©2010

Excerpt:

Obama’s Unconstitutional Health Care Treachery is just the beginning of a dark and sinister age in American history. Now that Obama & Co. have found the legislative mechanisms to subvert the Law of the Land on the federal health care grab, they intend to rush forward with the passage of “financial reform,” “energy reform,” and “Immigration reform,” none of which are any type of “reform.”

All of these measures are massive federal power and resource grabs, moving the vast resources of the United States from private sector control to public sector control. It is called socialism, by way of democratic process.

All of it will be done over the next few months without the consent of the governed, before the November election when leftists expect to lose their fifteen minutes of power in the voting booth. They plan to advance their anti-American agenda no matter how many stand opposed and in such a manner that it can never be reversed.

As I pointed out very clearly in my most recent column, for any federal law to be “constitutional,” it must meet this minimum standard…

It must be within the limited federal powers enumerated in the Constitution

It must enjoy the support of the vast majority of “the governed,” from which all federal powers are derived

It must not infringe upon the unalienable individual rights of any citizen

It must not infringe upon the rights of any state, protected by the Tenth Amendment

It must become law by way of legal legitimate legislative process

Obama’s Health Care treachery violates all five of these standards and as a result, it cannot be allowed to stand.

With all of the upcoming state lawsuit challenges to this bill, plus the fact that the Dems who voted for this awful legislation will most likely be booted out of the House and Senate in November, I can see that the new Congress with the new Republican Majority Leader, John Boehner, the implementation of this terrible legislation will come to a screeching halt through Congress' refusal to fund it.

The unconstitutionality has been clearly pointed out in the above excerpt from the article. What more needs to be said? I just can't imagine that the Supreme Court could EVER find the bill acceptable. They will most likely strike it down.

No matter which way it is done, WE THE PEOPLE will NOT let it stand! There is no need for any violence. Our VOTES will be the weapon of choice in November, 2010, and then again in the presidential election in 2012! Hey! Obama is already on record (via Robert Gibbs saying on video tape) that he doesn't care if he is a "one term president - OTP."

Hey peoples!! Let's make that revelation come true!!

The following two comments over at the Post & Email blog are priceless!

BRAVO! Well stated. The evidence of usurper, liar-in-chief, Barry Soetero aka Barack Obama pushing the envelope of his syncretistic Marxist/communist/socialist agenda is apparent for all to see. Examining from a wide angle lens of the advisers and czars to the president only ONE conclusion can be drawn, their unity AGAINST the values and moral integrity which formed this Republic. If it takes lying, bullying, backroom dealing, bribing, and circumventing the checks and balances of Constitutional process they will do it.

With great consternation and alarm, our Republic teeters on personal discipline to act and react with peaceful means. However, just like the sports scenario when the referee throws the flag of personal foul, almost always it is against the player who responded to the assault rather than the one who initiated it. The foul play has already been committed against the American people, as JB Williams effectively opines, the flag of violation will be thrown by whom? WE THE PEOPLE!

Regional Finals a Finale for Enberg, Too

CBS Sports has set tip times for Saturday's regional finals in the NCAA Tournament. They are:

4:30 p.m. -- Kansas State vs. Butler (Gus Johnson/Len Elmore)
7:05 p.m. -- Kentucky vs. West Virginia (Dick Enberg/Jay Bilas)

The nightcap could be the last for Enberg, 75, during the NCAA Tournament because he accepted a job in December as the TV play-by-play man for the San Diego Padres. That opportunity meant he would have to forgo assignments for the tournament in the future -- and he's been calling games during "March Madness" for one outlet or another since the 1960s.

He'll still likely have a network presence by working some tennis, golf and late-season NFL games, though.

Visionary TV Sports Pioneer Simmons Dies

To many casual sports fans, the name Chet Simmons means little, but the TV sports pioneer ranks as an accomplished visionary who forever changed the way sports fans view their games.

Simmons was part of the team that made "Wide World of Sports" a reality at ABC Sports, and he later helped revitalize NBC Sports. He also served as the first president of ESPN. And he was the first president of the USFL.

He was smart enough to contribute to and lead organizations that reshaped sports television (and sports in general) in the United States. He was also smart enough to know he did not know everything -- wisely estimating 30 years ago that "what lies ahead for cable television is incalculable at this point."

While Simmons was not as well known outside the industry as the late Roone Arledge, the driving force behind ABC's "Wide World of Sports" and that network's groundbreaking coverage of the Olympics, or even Dick Ebersol, the leader of NBC Sports, he was no less an important figure in shaping sports on TV during his lifetime.

Simmons died of natural causes Thursday in Atlanta. He was 81.

Where Simmons went, credibility followed. For example, sports on TV was in its infancy when he started his career in the late 1950s, but Sports Programs Inc. eventually became ABC Sports -- a division of an up-and-coming network that made sports personality driven and profitable, setting a template that would be followed for years to come.

At NBC Sports, the same thing happened with Simmons leading the team. When ABC's success set a standard, other networks worked to match that approach -- and NBC improved greatly with Simmons as president.

Then, in 1979, Simmons jumped to cable TV and served as president of a fledgling all-sports network, ESPN, at the time of its launch.

"Chet Simmons' leadership and vision in our first years were absolutely critical to ESPN's survival," George Bodenhiemer, president of ESPN and ABC Sports, told The Associated Press. "He was the only industry president to have pioneered both sports broadcasting in the late '50s and cable television in the late '70s."

While Simmons was in charge, ESPN brought fans early round coverage of the NCAA Tournament and NFL Draft. Of course, ESPN also introduced sports-specific studio programming, with "SportsCenter" becoming a daily fixture.

In addition, covering all his stops in sports TV, Simmons helped launch the careers of numerous commentators.

"Chet did so much more than take a chance on us young people 30 years ago," ESPN anchor Chris Berman told The Associated Press. "What you see today would have never been possible without him. We'll miss him as a mentor and as a friend. All of us will be forever indebted to Chet Simmons."

Credibility followed even after ESPN. As the first president of the USFL, Simmons helped the league secure a TV deal and, eventually, earn respect as a quality professional football league. Although the league did not survive, the talent on team rosters included many who became NFL standouts and even Hall of Fame selections -- among them quarterbacks Jim Kelly and Steve Young and defensive tackle Reggie White.

After the USFL, Simmons served as a media consultant for Madison Square Garden and taught as an adjunct faculty member at the University of South Carolina.

In 2005, he received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 26th annual Sports Emmy Awards.

KU Coach Gets TV Consolation Prize

Coach Bill Self has reached the regional finals of the NCAA Tournament -- as a studio analyst.

CBS Sports announced Self will join the studio team of Greg Gumble, Greg Anthony and Seth Davis on Saturday and Sunday.

Self's squad entered the tournament as the No. 1 overall seed and a favorite to reach the Final Four, but the Jayhawks were ousted by Northern Iowa last week. Despite the loss, Self, who led Kansas to the national championship in 2008, ranked as a logical selection for the TV seat usually reserved for active coaches at this time of the year.

'Obama Zombies'

Jason Mattera is the author of a new book entitled Obama Zombies: How the Liberal Machine Brainwashed My Generation. He was recently filmed confronting Democratic members of Congress regarding important contents about what exactly is in the health care bill. He also confronts chief propagandist White House spokesman, Robert Gibbs, about the fact that Obama stated that he thought (in the past) suppressing the filibuster was unconstitutional. He also confronts another Congressman about how 450 billion dollars of the Stimulus money went to phantom districts that don't even exist!

Rabid Left Creating and Baiting for Violence [Add-ons]

This morning, I have been busy replying to comments from a previous post and visiting other blogs reporting on the threats being hurled at both Dem and Republican Senators and House members.

As a TEA Party protester myself, who attended two separate TEA Party protests in Temecula, CA, [see here and here] I can verify what I had observed from the occupants of the cars that drove by the intersection. Those who were obvious Obama supporters often shouted obscenities and pointed their middle fingers at the protesters lined up along the streets. There was a small counter-protest (of Obama supporters) across the street from where my friend and I stood, but we didn't venture over there to see if there were any conflicts happening. I heard, second hand of course, that the corner where both TEA Party protesters and Obama supporters were standing engaged in heated discussions, but I did not hear nor see any physical violence happening. Since the Obama supporters were WAY outnumbered, the TEA Party protesters could have drowned them out completely. However, they did not send them away - giving them the free speech right to support Obama.

But things are very different today. The fact that ObaMAO HELLcare has passed and been signed into law, the Dems KNOW how doomed their party candidates will be in the upcoming 2010 election. Heck! Even Obama knows that he has to STILL go out and sell this awful bill (which is a huge step towards taking away individual freedoms from WE THE PEOPLE) to the public. The large percentage of voters who rejected this terrible legislation over the past 14 months are going to use it against the Dems in the 2010 election campaign.

People are discovering all of the bad stuff that is in the bill. They are learning the truth about all the lies and "talking points" that Dems tried to use to sell the bill to the public. But the majority of the public will not be fooled! They see the danger of this bill and how corruption, deceitfulness, arm-twisting, bribes, threats, and intimidation led to the passing of the bill. Appeasement (like Stupak falling for Obama's E.O.), and side-stepping of the issues (like Rep. Anthony Weiner did on O'Reilly last night - that the IRS is going to go after those who do not buy health insurance are going to reinforce the will of WE THE PEOPLE to vote these traitors to our Constitutional Republic OUT!!

There is SO MUCH that I could share in this post. But I will start with what Glenn Beck stated on his radio show both yesterday, today, and especially what he exposed on the chalkboards on his T.V. show yesterday. You NEED TO VIEW THE VIDEOS when they are available online! I will post a link to them when I find them.

A brief quote from Beck's show yesterday:

"They need you to be estranged from them. They need you to pick up a gun or a bomb. They need you to break the law. They need you to become them in the 1960s. They need you to do it. Because they know America does not support those kinds of people and they have become legitimate. They have dropped the radical pose for the radical ends, and they are making you the radical. Do not play into their game. They hold all of the cards. Do not do anything but get on your knees. As we turn to him, he will turn to us. This is his land. Let it play out his way. Do not pick up anything… except your soul. They need you to become radical."

Beck exposed the fact that the rabid, progressive leftist thugs will do ANYTHING to bait the TEA Party goers, conservative talk radio hosts, conservative speakers, Republicans, and anyone else who are actively speaking out against their Marxist agenda.

The following list contains just a few of the MANY examples.

It all started (for me, anyway) when blogger and commenter Kevin made the following accusations in this comment thread :

Kevin said...
Hi Christine,
What kind of hate is this guy talking about? Surely he must mean all the racist and homophobic statements yelled at the Democrats after the health care bill was passed (not to mention the spitting)? Or is he referring to at least ten members of congress who have received death threats?

Maybe he is referring to the fact that the de facto head of the new Republican Party (Rush Limbaugh) has called for wiping these people out? Jeez, talk about hate...Also, where in the bill is the statement about adding a certain amount to student loans? I haven't heard about this.

March 24, 2010 5:14:00 PM PDT

*******

My reply:

Kevin,

Where is your proof just who it was that yelled the alleged "racist and homophobic" statements? All of the videos produced so far do not show evidence of who it was. In fact, it could have been a progressive "plant" placed there - just at the moment in time when the Dems were ascending the Capitol steps in order to blame it on the TEA Party protesters.

We already know (for a fact) that Obama's SEIU thugs attacked and beat up a black man who was handing out "don't tread on me" flags at a TEA Party protest in the past.

"Wiping people out" means to wipe them out of Congress. C'mon Kevin! Aren't you being a bit disingenuous with that claim?

About the student loans. I heard about it on Neil Cavuto's "Your World." I cannot recall the person being interviewed. However, we now find out that there is a budget mistake in the student loan program placed in the health care bill (plus a few other errors) and it needs to go back to the House for another vote.

Take a look at the partisanship and who is the party of "no" during the Senate reconciliation process over at Nice Deb's blog.

Here's an excerpt from her post:

* Senator Gregg: Protect Medicare Savings
* Senator McCain: Remove Sweetheart Deals
* Senator Crapo: No Tax Hikes for Families Earning Under $250,000
* Senator Enzi: Strike the Employer Mandate
* Senator Barrasso: Requires Legislation Not Increase Premiums
* Senator Grassley: Requires President, Congress Enroll in Exchange
* Senator Alexander: Reduce Student Loan Interest Rate
* Senator LeMieux: Members On Medicaid
* Senator Coburn: Bars Sex Offenders from Receiving E.D. Drugs
* Senator Hutchison: State Opt Out
* Senator Hatch: Block Medicare Advantage Cuts
* Senator Collins: Waive Employer Mandate Tax
* Senator Thune: Strike CLASS Act
* Senator Cornyn: Remove New Taxes on Investments
* Senator Hatch: Protect Wounded Soldiers from Medical Device Tax
* Senator Inhofe: Protect Pediatrics and Disabled from Medical Device Tax
* Senator Crapo: Protect Cancer Patients from Medical Device Tax
* Senators Roberts, Inhofe, Brown, Crapo: Strike Medical Device Tax
* Senator Burr: Tricare and Veterans Health Programs
* Senator Roberts: Rationing
* Senator Roberts: Critical Access Hospitals
* Senator Vitter: Repeals Democrats’ Health Care Bill

Go here to read the details.

Sure was a lot of "tabling" by the Dems going on regarding Republican amendments to the bill.

[Note: Tabling
Parliamentary Procedure.
a.
Chiefly U.S. to lay aside (a proposal, resolution, etc.) for future discussion, usually with a view to postponing or shelving the matter indefinitely. - from Dictionary.com]

The Dems didn't want ANY changes to occur - and that's why they turned down most of them. At least one (maybe even two or three) could not be turned down, so the bill does have to return back to the House for a final vote.

The rejection of most of the amendments given by Republicans by the Senate Dems is very, very troubling. Especially the rejection of the viagra to convicted sex offenders amendment. Maybe that was one of the ones accepted? I would hope so.

[Update: Just heard via Rush Limbaugh's radio show that the amendment to keep taxpayer support of viagra being given to convicted sex offenders was rejected by the Dem Senate majority. WHAT AN ABSOLUTELY SAD AND TERRIBLE THING!! Rush suggests using this fact against the Dems in 2010 election commercials.]

Woah. St. Louis Conservative Kevin Jackson Destroys Race-Baiter David Shuster on MSNBC

As Glenn Beck covered so eloquently on his T.V. show yesterday, the leftist creeps (like Shuster in the video) are trying to spread lies about the TEA Party protest people. Most of the violence has been from the thugs on the left (as Kevin Jackson so easily pointed out to clueless Shuster) - the verifiable kind of violence that has been documented through video, physical evidence and arrests.

And then there is this fact. The Media of Mass Deception is choosing to highlight threats towards Democrats from (allegedly) Republican operatives, but chooses NOT TO HIGHLIGHT THREATS TOWARDS REPUBLICANS FROM DEMOCRAT THUG OPERATIVES LIKE SEIU.

Maggie's Notebook has a good rundown of examples from the past, as well as recent threats (one of the most recent being a bullet shot through Republican Eric Cantor's home office) spewed by Progressive Dem operatives. Be sure to take note of clueless Dem Jim Clyburn - who claims that "Republicans are aiding terrorism."

My comment at Maggie's Notebook:

Great essay! Great roundup of photos depicting the threats that the rabid left hurled towards President George W. Bush and others during the 8 years of his administration.

Could you imagine if TEA Party protesters held up signs (like the awful ones about Bush) found at Zomblog and Zombietime about Resident Obama??

These 1960's radicals (watch Glenn Beck's show from yesterday) are trying to bait the right, Republicans, and TEA Party Protesters into violence. Since they can't find it - who is to say that they aren't creating it (and baiting it) themselves and then placing the blame on others??

The other day I posted something to the affect that this health care bill was just a first step on the road to a single payer system and that it has taken years to get where we are and it will take years to finish the job too.

On WJR 760 AM radio with Paul W. Smith John Dingell confirmed that is what the plan has been all along. It may have been a slip of the tongue by an old man, but he let the cat out of the bag!

tdr,

When I read your comment at March 24, 2010 at 7:10 pm, I skipped down to comment back to you.

From what I understand, Glenn is launching a new way that we can fight back against this tide of Marxism this Saturday. He has also started a kind of "Beck's University" at his insider website. I haven't joined yet (think it's only $6.00 a month), but I plan to do so in order to learn what he is teaching at the event being launched this Saturday (in Florida? I think?).

I don't think that Beck is advocating that we don't defend ourselves with weapons (after all, he owns several and is licensed to carry a concealed weapon). What he is trying to get across is that VIOLENCE is NOT the answer!

I have just completed a blog post called:

Rabid Left Creating and Baiting for Violence

I hope that you and your readers will come over to read and comment. There are a lot of additional links included in the post.

I think that Glenn sees what's "up the progressive left's sleeve" and how they are going to try and make the TEA Party movement into a "radical group" so that they can blame them for violent acts (which are often created and baited by the leftists, themselves). This is CLASSIC Saul Alinsky methods!

I think that Glenn is right that we need to inform those in the public who are oblivious to what is REALLY going on. Glenn's radio audience is estimated at 8 million and his t.v. show is estimated at 3 million. If each person shares this information and wakes up just ONE, or two, or three neighbors, friends, relatives, or acquaintances, then we would could reach an additional 11 million to 33 million people.

We cannot be silent! We MUST inform people about the dangers of losing our liberty and freedoms through ObaMAO's radical agenda.

Thanks for this great post. I continue to pray that the Kerchner lawsuit will prevail in a court of law and that a brave, true patriot judge will not cave to ObaMAO thuggery and threats.

TV's Most Poweful? The Masters, NFL

We're nowhere near the on-field part of pro football season, and golf season (at least to casual fans) remains a couple weeks away, but two out-of-season entities -- The Masters and the NFL -- clearly rank as two of the most powerful TV sports property owners in the United States.

First, The Masters, which controls almost everything about how golf gets portrayed during the sport's first major each April. While CBS Sports has held rights to the event for decades, it operates on a year-to-year contract with Augusta National Golf Club, and that enables the private club and its leaders to wield all the power in the relationship.

So, viewers get beautiful pictures of the course and references to "patrons" as opposed to "fans" or "the gallery." At the same time, CBS works under an ever-present threat that controversy or missteps could impact whether or not the network covers the tournament in subsequent years.

While the relationship has never been seriously threatened -- because CBS has toed the line and because, well, it's golf, not life or death -- Augusta National has flexed its muscle from time to time. Most notably, club officials chafed in 1995 when CBS analyst Gary McCord referred to the 17th green as so fast it was "bikini-waxed." He also said body bags were stacked behind the green for golfers who missed their approach shots.

He was removed from coverage of the tournament the next year and has never returned, despite the fact that he covers every other golf tournament the network broadcasts.

Like The Masters, the NFL is clearly in charge -- though not usually as overbearing -- in its relationship with broadcast partners. And a broadened definition of those partners made that clear a couple weeks ago.

While many were justifiably focused on the NCAA's likely effort to opt out of its television deal and look for higher bidders, the NFL sealed a $720 million deal with Verizon for mobile TV rights for the next four years. That's $5.6 million per year for each team in the league the next four years, and that's four what has been a small piece of the NFL's inventory.

In addition, every action the league makes garners attention. Big attention, even when its the off-season.

Alter the overtime rule during the league meeting? Covered. Speculate about the trade of Philadelphia Eagles QB Donovan McNabb? Covered. Announce the team that would be the subject of the annual "Hard Knocks" series on HBO? Covered.

While some might wonder about the news value of some NFL-related items at this time of year, the nation's most-watched sport certainly generates year-round interest ... and merits year-round coverage.

Also, in contrast to Major League Baseball, which spaces out the announcements of its post-season awards in a manner that seems slow and tiresome, the NFL offers a tidbit here and a tidbit there (while knowing where they fit in the big picture) in a manner that only seems to whet appetites for more.

Best of all for the NFL, nobody questions the approach -- just as nobody will question how the The Masters goes about its business. No other TV property owners get such treatment, and none could warrant an approach, either.

It works for those two simply because they are so powerful, and because people are so interested. Because of that, they can set the rules -- such as extending the NFL Draft over a three-day period and moving into prime time this year -- and their TV partners (and the media in general) almost have to follow. Sometimes it's just good to be the king.

You may have noticed a few changes...

Secondly, I have purchased a new computer making dictation a whole lot faster and more reliable. That's why, besides today, I have been on time on most of my posts for the week.

Now for the bad news... Since I got my new computer, I've had difficulty putting all my files back together. That being said, I still don't have my iTunes up and running completely. For that reason, I am postponing the Patrick Henry book review. But don't despair, I have a wonderful substitute. I actually came across this young man's story thanks to an old professor and friend.

His name is Nick Vujicic. He's a 23-year-old young man with timeless wisdom and an amazing story that has touched millions. Born with no arms and no legs, he travels the world as a motivational speaker telling people to never give up whatever their circumstances may be.

His story is much more powerful if you hear it from him.. please take a look:

No Packer? No Problem in NCAA Tournament

Forty-nine games into the NCAA Tournament, and the absence of Billy Packer for the second year in a row has helped make an exciting event a bit more enjoyable.

Appropriately (and thankfully), analysts, experts and fans have been more interested in the games themselves than the folks calling the action. That's the way it should be.

This tournament marks the second Packer has not worked since he was replaced by Clark Kellogg as the lead analyst for CBS Sports. That move, announced in July 2008, heralded the start of more enjoyable experiences for college basketball viewers during the postseason.

While Packer always found a way to stoke some controversy, Kellogg offers context.

Few on-air TV types drive ratings (although some believe John Madden could), but Packer always seemed to believe he was the show. His ability to evoking reaction and response were reliable, but mostly a matter of appropriately timed tournament-related bluster.

Sure, Kellogg (and most of the other color commentators) seem somewhat bland by comparison, but Packer relished a role as the outspoken conscious of college basketball and in striving to meet that self-imposed expectation he sometimes just sounded critical or harsh for no reason at all.

This season, we're getting good games with generally good descriptions of the action -- minus any unnecessary agendas or talking points. If that stuff does have a place on TV sports (and it does), it's coming from experts in the studio or those working halftime shows.

Without Packer on the NCAA games, we've seen a move toward a better balance in that regard.

A Verbal Shellacking of Wallis' "Social Justice" Agenda [video link added]

Whew! Glenn Beck certainly verbally whacked Jim Wallis and his "social justice" perversion of the Gospel on today's T.V. show! I'm sure that the videos of the show will be available to view later today or tomorrow.*** THIS is a show that you cannot miss! Glenn exposed the "social justice" movement agenda in liberal/progressive churches that has been previously camouflaged for what it really is - the socialistic march towards Marxism.

In a previous post, I wrote about how Glenn exposed the "social justice" terminology that was being used by the Marxists and radicals surrounding Obama at the White House. Today, Glenn excellently exposed how a perversion of the Gospel is being used to promote religious "social justice" in place of what Jesus genuinely meant when he preached during His three year ministry here on earth. The Bible is clear on this issue!

Perversion of the Bible is nothing new. It has been going on for thousands of years. There is "nothing new under the sun" as Solomon so wisely admonished in the book of Ecclesiastes. As Christians, we are to be on alert for such perversion, heresy and apostasy. The book of Jude gave us warnings about such attempts to skew true Christian faith through the guise of false religion. Such warnings are needed the closer we get to the end times. Jesus himself gave us instructions on what to do! See Mark 13.

Perhaps one of my first encounters with the "social justice" progressive movement was when I read and reviewed a book called UnChristian. At the time, I referred to such people as part of the "Emergent Church" movement. But what stands out to me now is the fact that the emergents usually criticize the Christians who believe in and follow God's Word and the Gospel of the Cross of Jesus Christ for salvation. I found it odd that they would allow, and agree with, the secular public who often attempt to disparage true Christian faith, beliefs, motives, and proper exegesis, hermeneutics, and interpretation of the Bible that has been passed down through centuries of scholarly Christian apologists, commentators, and writers.

Why is that?

If you read the link above, you will know why. Here is a short excerpt:

Why is there such a small percentage of those who hold a biblical worldview? We get our answer from Jesus himself when we read what Jesus said to the Father in his prayer:

Jhn 17:14 I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

Jhn 17:15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.

Jhn 17:16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

Jhn 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

I noticed that the authors talk about urging those who call themselves Christians towards "spiritual depth." I don't see them emphasizing the need for repentance and receiving the Holy Spirit of God indwelling the soul of the believer.

Back to Jim Wallis and the social justice movement.

It might help to read my previous post: Hunger and Thirst for RIGHTEOUSNESS

In a moment of honesty, I think that Wallis' title for the following post is true!

Social Justice is a perversion of the Gospel

Although the author (Wallis) claims that his "message is getting through to Glenn Beck," the exact opposite is happening! Glenn's message about Wallis' perversion of the Gospel is getting through to the American people! Especially genuine born again Christians! Remember, Jesus tells us unequivocally that the elect in Christ will not be fooled by false teachers, prophets or false Christs:

Mat 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if [it were] possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

We are equipped through study of the Bible, Christ's Gospel, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit so that we will not be deceived!

So far, I haven't seen a response posted at Wallis' blog God's Politics. I wonder if a response will be forthcoming? Or will that guy shrink away from Beck's counter challenge? In the former post (link above) Wallis actually challenged Beck to allow him to debate on his radio or T.V. show. Do you think that Wallis will still want to do that now that his agenda has been fully exposed? Hmmm....

Oh wait! I found a more recent commentary at Wallis' blog (via his sidebar)!

Glenn Beck Promises Week-long Focus on Jim Wallis and His ‘Social Justice Nonsense’

But that was written on March 18th. We shall see what happens after today's broadcast. Stay tuned, folks. It promises to be quite the back and forth fight.

There are LOTS of comments to read through at this new link. I skipped over to the latest ones and found the following, which sums up why I think that Beck is right about Wallis:

lilschmoo 1 day ago

The term “social justice” has it’s roots in marxism and communism and is not in the Bible. The word "justice" in Hebrew from Micah 6:8 means the following (strong's concordance):

1) judgment, justice, ordinance

a) judgment

1) act of deciding a case

2) place, court, seat of judgment

3) process, procedure, litigation (before judges)

4) case, cause (presented for judgment)

5) sentence, decision (of judgment)

6) execution (of judgment)

7) time (of judgment)

b) justice, right, rectitude (attributes of God or man)

c) ordinance

d) decision (in law)

e) right, privilege, due (legal)

f) proper, fitting, measure, fitness, custom, manner, plan

What Christians mean as justice: aka, helping the poor, oppressed, etc. is NOT what the term “social justice” at its inception means and this is the phrase that Mr. Beck was referring too. Social justice is an ideologue that subscribes to progressive taxation, income redistribution, or even property redistribution. In other words: SOCIALISM. In that context, Mr. Beck was correct in saying what he said. Christians are not understanding that when the government says "social justice" it is not coming from a biblical understanding of God’s justice but rather a socialist agenda. God’s justice (which I am all for) and “social justice” are NOT the same.

Bingo!

Gingrich: This Will Not Stand

I do not always agree with what Newt Gingrich writes or everything he says during interviews on Fox News and conservative radio talk shows. I especially hated the fact that he chose to appear in a commercial on the farcical global warming hoax with Nancy PeLIARsi a few years ago.

With that said, I must admit that he is dead-straight-on and correct about everything he included in the following article from the Fox News Channel website.

NEWT GINGRICH: We Have Only Just Begun to Fight
By Newt Gingrich
- FOXNews.com

The American people will not allow a corrupt machine to dictate their future. Together we will pledge to repeal this health care bill and start over. This will not stand.

This will not stand.

No one should be confused about the outcome of Sunday's vote. This is not the end of the fight it is the beginning of the fight.

The American people spoke decisively against a big government, high tax, Washington knows best, pro-trial lawyer centralized bureaucratic health system.

In every recent poll the vast majority of Americans opposed this monstrosity.

Speaker Pelosi knew the country was against the bill. That is why she kept her members trapped in Washington and forced a vote on Sunday. She knew if she let the members go home their constituents would convince them to vote no.

The Obama-Pelosi-Reid machine combined the radicalism of Alinsky, the corruption of Springfield and the machine power politics of Chicago.

Sunday was a pressured, bought, intimidated vote worthy of Hugo Chavez but unworthy of the United States of America.

It is hard to imagine how much pressure they brought to bear on Congressman Stupak (D-Mich.) to get him to accept a cynical, phony, clearly illegal and unconstitutional executive order on abortion. The ruthlessness and inhumanity of the Obama-Pelosi-Reid machine was most clearly on display in their public humiliation of Stupak.

The real principles of the machine were articulated by Democratic Congressman Alcee Hastings who was impeached and removed from the bench as a federal judge, before being elected to the House when he said, "There ain't no rules here, we're trying to accomplish something. . . .All this talk about rules. . . .When the deal goes down . . . we make 'em up as we go along."

It is hard for the American people to believe their leaders on the left are this bad.

They are.

The American people will not allow a corrupt machine to dictate their future.

Together we will pledge to repeal this bill and start over.

Together we will prove that this will not stand.

2010 and 2012 will be among the most important elections in American history. These elections will allow us to save America from a left-wing machine of unparalleled corruption arrogance and cynicism.

Sunday was one more step in the fight against a "Washington knows best" and "Washington should run everything" attitude.

Let us turn now to the Senate to continue this fight for real reform, for real self government, and for policies that create jobs, improve health outcomes, and increase freedom.

Newt Gingrich is the former Speaker of the House. He is a Fox News contributor and founder of the Center for Health Transformation. The Center for Health Transformation is a high-impact collaboration of private and public sector leaders committed to creating a 21st Century Intelligent Health System that saves lives and saves money for all Americans. CHT is based on the following premise: Small changes or reactionary fixes to separate pieces of the current system have not and will not work. We need a system-wide transformation. Unlike other alliances, CHT unites stakeholders across the spectrum (providers, employers, vendors, trade associations, disease groups, think tanks) and government leaders at both the state and federal level to drive transformation according to a shared vision and key principles.

Fox Forum is on Twitter. Follow us @fxnopinion.

P.S. I cannot, at this time, completely endorse the CHT (Center for Health Transformation) until I do more research on the organization. It is mentioned here in the credits about Newt Gingrich to show that he is actively involved in a type of health transformation organization for the United States of America that is not based on socialism. From what I have heard (so far), the CHT doesn't appear to go against the wishes of We The People, the Constitution of the United States of America, the Declaration of Independence, or what our Founders intended for our Constitutional Republic.

This Too Shall Pass

For World Water Day, we offer the well-viraled OK Go video This Too Shall Pass and its dizzyingly intricate Rube Goldberg machine.

This Too Shall Pass

Rube Goldberg machines have long fascinated us not only because they're always eye-poppingly fun to watch but also because they're marvelous abstractions of monumental water infrastructure. If you think of those metallic balls and bowling balls as singular droplets or even molecules of water, and those swinging golf clubs and falling dominos as energy transiting through a system, then you can see how OK Go's DIY rig approximates a hydroengineer's titanic contraptions.

This Too Shall Pass

Instead of a terraformer's assembly kit of levees, dams, canals, channels, weirs, spillways, pumps, artificial reservoirs and hydraulic thingamajigs, these darlings of YouTube have Chinese soup spoons, ramps, tires, LEGOs and plenty of thingamabobs and whatnots, all hacked and whacked into an incomprehensible but precise configuration (or at least functionally precise during the take used for the video).

That thrill we get from seeing this toy Super-Versailles unravel surely compares to the excitement one gets (or supposed to get) from imagining a droplet's dizzying and often gravity-defying journey through an intercontinental mesh of concrete linearity and mammoth geometries.

This Too Shall Pass

The only thing in the video that's probably without parallel in the real world is the crowd cheering ecstatically at the end. In the real world, there should also be a crowd permanently encamped alongside our Super-Versailleses, hooting and hollering as the precious liquid passes by, maybe even sacrificing some virgins within these hallowed precints. The infrastructural gods must be appeased, lest we want our cities and civilization to shrivel up and die.

This Too Shall Pass

And perhaps someday, our water infrastructure will actually be the one approximating a Rube Goldberg machine, that is, when climate change has reconfigured, irrespective of population distribution, the spatial and temporal geography of our fresh water resource, thus forcing all nations to envelop the entire surface of the earth with a Coruscantian Super-Versailles, such that the supersaturated African rain forests feed the taps of Sydneysiders or Greenland waters the anti-sandstorm greenbelt of China.

So mindbogglingly complex and gargantuan is this Super-Versailles that it will always be in a state of disrepair, always pockmarked with micro-disasters. Rather than wholly and expensively replace aged robo-watersheds, these weak portions will just be roughly patched up and augmented with diversions and bypasses. Elsewhere the hydrologically marginalized will augment the system with their own fractological DIY hacks. Entropy will only increase, and soon, there will indeed be buckets filled with Amazonian waters flying through the air from city to city.
