Growing Audience!!!

On a day when the Baltimore Sun reported, “The Baltimore Sun has cut its newsroom staff by nearly a third in a reorganization the company said would help it not just survive but succeed in one of the worst economic downturns in decades”, the Austin American-Statesman has good news for a change.

True, the Statesman has made many staff cuts and buyouts, but the relative health of Austin’s only daily newspaper remains good. According to the Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC), The Statesman’s overall audience is up 5.97-percent from this time last year. That audience includes subscriptions and online readers.

When compared in 72 U.S. markets with 124 newspapers, the Statesman online is number-one in terms of percentage of local adults reached according to a recent survey, by Scarborough Research and provided by the American-Statesman. The survey results are 12-month averages.

“More than 850,000 will read one of our printed publications or visit one of our web sites in a typical week,” said Harry Davis, vice president for circulation. “That is two out of three local adults and far more than any other local media. We ranked 14th among all [Top 25] newspapers this ABC publishers statement in total readership (print and online).” At the same time, circulation for both the weekday and Sunday editions fell 10.3 percent, according to the Statesman. So, the growth clearly was in the online audience.

“More than 420,000 local adults visit our web sites in a month. In 2008, total page views grew 12% over the previous year. Statesman.com is one of the most-popular local newspaper websites in the U.S., second only to washingtonpost.com.,” Davis said. “The Statesman is the area’s leading source of news, information and advertising, reaching over 400,000 readers each weekday and more than 513,000 readers each Sunday.”

In the same ABC report, other Texas newspapers did not fare so well. The embattled Fort Worth Star-Telegram, now sharing some resources with the Dallas Morning News lost 7.09 percent of its total audience, although it still reaches more than 1.2-million readers. The Houston Chronicle also lost ground, down 6.13 percent, but its total audience is still 2.5-million plus.

There have been whispers that the Fort Worth Star-Telegram may be folded into the Dallas Morning-News. Also, Austinites are aware the Austin American-Statesman’s parent company, Cox Newspapers has been looking for a buyer for the local newspaper for the past several months. Considering the state of the Statesman, it is not going to be a steal.

“The folks at Cox corporate headquarters are determined to keep a tight lid on information about the sale process, and so far they've done a good job. Beyond the fact that the process is continuing, all I know is that Cox has said repeatedly that it will not sell at a fire-sale price,” said Fred Zipp, American-Statesman editor. At last word, negotiations were continuing with several suitors.

These local statistics are a major chord in an overall symphony in a minor key. Newspapers nationwide, like the Baltimore Sun are retooling for a new age of multiplatform journalism. That includes the American-Statesman and probably says something about its relative success. Of the top 25 dailies in the country, only the nation’s number two newspaper, The Wall Street Journal, increased circulation. The growth? Less than one percent. The Wall Street Journal, by the way, is delivered locally by the Austin American-Statesman.

Obama's Staged Press Conference - No Accountability

Did you see that sham of a "press conference" that Obama held yesterday? How lame can this idiot get? With each passing day, his antics get worse and worse and our nation is suffering because of it. Did you notice what was not covered? Did you notice how Obama bloviates when answering questions? It's all planned that way. Yup! The more time he spends yapping, the less questions he has to answer. How many did he answer? Was it about 13 or 14?

In an analysis following the bogus conference, Bill O'Reilly mentioned that he got in about 45 questions in his 30 minute interview with Obama back during the campaign. And...notice that Obama selected certain reporters - most likely ahead of time - as he looked down and referred to his list. I would not be a bit surprised if he knew the questions ahead of time so he would have prepared answers. What's more did you notice the softball questions that were asked? Why didn't anyone bring up the low-flying plane over New York incident? - [LINK UPDATED] Why did Obama find it necessary to spend over $300,000.00 of taxpayer money to do a dumb town hall meeting in St. Louis, MO and at the same time mock the TEA Party participants while there? I could go on and on - but you already get the picture. These so-called news conferences ARE BOGUS BECAUSE THEY ARE STAGED!!

I was hoping to find a video that shows what a lying campaigner Barack Hussein Obama was as he and the DNC hijacked and usurped the presidency. Thanks to Nice Deb, I found one this morning. It is not entirely complete - there are SO MANY MORE SCANDALS, errors, faux pas, stupid moves, horrible executive orders, terrible decisions etc. that could be mentioned. In fact, you can read about most of them here, here or here. Those links are just a few locations where you will find the truth about this despicable person and his evil cronies. But seeing this brief video of Obama saying one thing on the campaign trail, and doing quite the opposite once in office is very telling of what a narcissistic liar the man is. There is no other way to see it. Obama IS A LIAR!!

Suffice it to say that the normal, grassroots efforts by everyday Americans who gathered for the TEA (Taxed Enough Already) Parties across the nation have been given PLENTY of reasons to protest the bailouts, porkulus spending, scandals and all the rest (see list above) of the nonsense that this Bogus Potus and his awful administration has inflicted upon the us, the Citizens of the United States of America.

Disease is in the air, so we thought we'd offer up all our disorganized musings on spatializing health by way of tags. You can scan through tidbits about the politics of pollen, disease tours, subterranean pharmlands, reconfiguring the sky to combat suicides and the hilarious 2007 World Infection Tour of Andrew Speaker.

Tagging our posts is something we have always wanted to implement here but have only recently done so when we redesigned the blog's layout. In other words, there may be some stray epidemiological posts that we haven't yet labeled — in fact, there are still so many posts that need tagging — but what has already been stamped with the health tag should be enough to encapsulate our M.O. in this subject.

Meanwhile, as we are wont to do, we decorated this post with a couple of images taken from an old New York Times article about a cancer therapy using proton accelerators.

The machines accelerate protons to nearly the speed of light and shoot them into tumors. Scientists say proton beams are more precise than the X-rays now typically used for radiation therapy, meaning fewer side effects from stray radiation and, possibly, a higher cure rate.

If a particle accelerator calls to mind the Large Hadron Collider, then you can imagine the sheer gargantuan size of these anti-cancer machines. One of these machines can weigh 222 tons, costs $100 million and requires “a building the size of a football field with walls up to 18-feet thick in which to house it.” In other words, it's “the world’s most expensive and complex medical device.”

One wonders how much energy it needs, and whether hospitals had simply connected it to the electrical grid or had to build a dedicated power generator. If it's the latter, did they also put up another building to house it in?

We may be overimagining the logistics here as usual, but our minds are reeling into hyperdrive as they imagine clusters of buildings connected together by arrays of electromagnets and miles of wirings, swarming with technicians and operators, buzzing with the grinding gears of three-story tall gantries, all overseen from a cavernous control room of wall-to-wall LED monitors. And the central focus in the entire sprawling complex is just a narrow beam of invisible protons.

Given the extent some people in the U.S. are willing to go through to cure their illnesses despite the costs, and how the medical industry is an all-too willing pill pusher — and of course, these proton accelerators just prove that — we can't help but wonder when we might see a new cancer treatment regimen so incredibly complex, an entire city has to be built for it. When a patient starts treatment, it draws energy from all around, even from deep inside the earth. The whole landscape shudders and contracts.

Have you seen the planet destroyer in the trailers for the new Star Trek movie? Will it be like that, though with a finer but still mindbogglingly powerful beam? Somehow we think the indescribably absurd American health care system will make it happen and beat the equally preposterous American military industry to the punch.

Ah, spring. Political flyers that I do not want are in the mail box and my email inbox. And since it is also TV spring sweeps, some are finding that an Austin TV station is apparently repurposing news and weather alert email lists for promotional messages--You know, the kind that should end up in your Outlook Junk Mail folder. How did viewers get on the email list? Well, they asked to be put on the list, but they are getting more they asked for.


KXAN TV (NBC) in Austin invites viewers to sign up for news and weather email alerts or updates. Most all local media also offer email news and possibly weather alerts. Only KXAN, however, is also using that news and weather alert email list to promote programming. This sweeps period seems to be the first time the station’s promotions department got its hands on the news and weather alert email list.


I don’t subscribe to any broadcast station alerts. A NewsMcNabb reader brought the promotional messages to my attention. The first one arrived on the very first day of sweeps, last Thursday:

Certainly and quite possibly, this coverage transcends promotion and could be classified as news. Unfortunately, I have not been able to get anyone to make the distinction for me.


Television stations are in hot competition. So, stations might use all media available to promote their products, but as I said earlier, KXAN is the only station using its email list for promotional purposes.


How do I know? I asked them. One station’s new media managing editor said the idea came up once and was quickly shot down, because it might make viewers angry. News 8 News Director Kevin Benz said similarly, “We try to avoid ticking people off.”


KXAN TV has not replied to the NewsMcNabb inquiry.


A bit of irony: Just as I finished the copyright note below, my cell phone provider sent me a text message, encouraging me to send pictures with Mother’s Day texts. Geez.

Grown-up Girlfriends Chapter 12 and 13

Hello everyone ~

How is everybody's week going? Mine had been pretty hectic lately with car problems and trouble getting splints made for my hands. This process has been months in the making, ever since I got my first round of Botox. Unfortunately, though, it keeps getting passed on from doctor to doctor because they're not really sure what they want. Not that I'm complaining, I am definitely not looking forward to wearing them both day and night. But I guess that's the only way my arms will see changes in the long run.

Today I will be concluding my series on Grown-Up Girlfriends. I hope through my notes during this series my readers have learned to value the relationships that God puts in our lives. I have certainly learned a lot about myself as well as the importance of Christian friendships in my life. The final two chapters focus on the importance of learning through this process and growing up in response.I would love to hear how and if the series impacted you.

Notes on Chapter 12- A Grown-Up Girlfriend Passes On What She Knows
1. Make Yourself Available- if the opportunity arises, be ready and willing to share your experiences
2. Spreading Your Wings- allow yourself to grow from experiences and develop your own convictions about friendships. Every person is different and takes different perspectives on any given situation.

Why Were 5 Images Photoshopped? Plus - Plane Game

Adding more to the continuing Obama citizenship questions, we now find that a person who gave himself/herself the code name of "Ducky" *[see update] has photoshopped and altered five images - including the Certificate of Live Birth of Obama! Plus, recall that "birth announcement" that has been shown as "proof" that Obama was born in Hawaii? That was photoshopped too!

I was looking for evidence of image forgery, and to my surprise saw the name 'Ducky' appeared in each image reviewed. I remember seeing 'Ducky' on Obama's Certificate of Live Birth image from his Fight the Smears website way back in August.

This proves that 'Ducky' has forged or changed every one of these images, in one form or another, as an effort to present something likely false by using a Professional image editing software (Photoshop) to make changes.

For those [of] you not that computer-savvy, Photoshop is image-editing software (the most popular). You can virtually superimpose one image onto another etc. Photoshop is often used to put heads on other peoples' bodies (as in the case of some Glam magazines) etc. Even an amateur with this software can make convincing, yet fake photos.
A quick-and-dirty way to find out if an image has been altered in any way, is to open that image in a Hex (or even simple text) editor.

Note: For those of you not so computer-savvy - images when opened in text editors (like Notepad) show the Hexidecimal code for the image. Computers only understand numbers, so it uses Hexidecimal to represent pairs of Binary numbers. Binary numbers are 1's and 0's. A pattern of these numbers together, represent the image to the computer, which converts it to what you see. Hexidecimal is a way of shortening up Binary sequences.
When an altered (or newly created) image is saved in Photoshop, it (Photoshop) will record basic details about the image depending on how the image-saving preferences are set. You can record additional text into the image, such as copyright information, or even a comment. And no, Ducky did not save any copyright information for the images.

Take at look at the stalling tactics being used by Obama's million dollar plus team of lawyers to prevent the truth from being revealed to a court and the people of the United States of America regarding his vault-length Certificate of Live Birth (which would inevitably reveal where he was actually born):

Whether or not the President of the United States is eligible for the Office he currently occupies is of utmost national importance. Every passing day Mr. Obama takes executive action that significantly impacts on the lives of Americans. The USA and Obama have already been granted one extension to answer to May 5, 2009. They have therefore been given 77 days to answer. This is enough time for them to answer. With an extension to June 21, 2009, USA and Obama are asking for 124 days and the Congressional defendants are asking for 117 days to answer. Court rules only allow them 60 days. Such delay is not in the national interest and not acceptable. As to the Congressional defendants, a twenty-day extension for them to answer is reasonable, making their answer due by May 18, 2009. Given the national importance of the issues, an extension for all defendants to answer by June 21, 2009 is not acceptable.

A terrifying event that Obama just shrugged off as "a mistake" is waking people up - even some of those who voted for him!!!

P.S. The above site link is obviously in favor of Obama. It appears that the author there believes that "Native born" is equal to "Natural Born Citizen." I only had a few moments to check out the site, but there are many posts that mock the "birthers" and lawyers such as Orly Taitz. The sidebar has a list of lawsuits against Obama.

The yearbook for Punahou in 1979 shows number 25 as another boy that looks remarkably similar to Barack Obama….the video on Youtube shows number 25 clearly making the basketball shots with the voice saying the over and over that it was Obama making the shots etc…….clearly a fraud. Why would someone go to lengths to show this video that Mr. Obama was playing basketball when it wasn’t him?

Monday, April 27th -- a perfect storm of idiocy led to a frightening 9/11 flashback for thousands of New Yorkers Monday when a jumbo jet and two F-16 fighter jets buzzed lower Manhattan without warning.

A "Top Secret" photo opportunity using Air Force One and an F-16. This is a laugh riot. Obama has no hesitation unclassifying and releasing the nation's "Top Secret" documents, to the benefit of our enemies during wartime, but keeps secret a photo op for the purpose of making souvenir tie-clasps. Obama proves he is a genius with this stunt -- a first-class commander-in-chief.

One observer suggested that Obama might want to do a photo op with a Ryder rental truck in Oklahoma City next.

And who takes the hit? Some guy nobody has ever heard of. If you believe approval for this idiocy was made by a low-level bureaucrat, I have a bridge to sell you. I'll bet it takes twenty-six pounds of documents to get clearance for Air Force One -- just think about it -- the White House, the Pentagon, the Air Force, Andrews Air Force Base, the flight crew, the ground crew, the tactical fighter support, the Secret Service, the FAA, etc, etc, etc. -- when asked about the stunt, Obama's Press Secretary lied and said, "I did not see that before I came out here." -- The AP's Jennifer Loven shot back, "Well, it's been in all the stories all day."

I wonder what the auto CEOs who got their asses chewed out by Obama for using their private jets to fly to Washington think of this stunt -- and then, there's the cost in dollars and cost to the environment. For souvenirs, the cost was enormous. It costs $60,000 per hour to operate Air Force One, plus the operating costs for an F-16 escort -- we're looking at a quarter-of-a-million dollars, and up -- for a photo! -- Bloomberg reports that the total cost to the taxpayer was $328,835.

Wouldn't PhotoShop have been cheaper? It's not like Obama isn't familiar with the popular graphics editing program.

Update: Federal officials knew that sending two fighter jets and Air Force One to buzz ground zero and Lady Liberty might set off nightmarish fears of a 9/11 replay, but they still ordered the photo-op kept secret from the public.

In a memo obtained by NY's CBS Channel 2, the Federal Aviation Administration's James Johnston said the agency was aware of "the possibility of public concern regarding DoD (Department of Defense) aircraft flying at low altitudes" in an around New York City. But they demanded total secrecy from the NYPD, the Secret Service, the FBI and even the mayor's office and threatened federal sanctions if the secret got out.

A State Secret

Obama and his Democratic cronies have made it abundantly clear in the last few weeks that they don't give a hoot for state secrets.

Regardless of the damage to the country, they'll declassify even the most sensitive national security secrets if it supports their political agendas.

So, one must ask, "why was this flight classified as 'Top Secret'"?

It certainly wasn't a military secret. It certainly wasn't a national security secret. It most definitely was a political secret.

If I remember correctly, something is classified as Confidential, Secret or Top Secret by the local, responsible commander. The local, responsible commander in the White House is, yup, the usurper-in-chief, Barack Hussein Obama.

What is the rational behind making a publicity flight Top Secret?

What kind of secret would it be to have a 747, escorted by F-16s, making simulated bombing runs on America's most densely populated city. Hell, it would be all over TV in minutes. Why would such a stunt be classified?

Why, to bury the flight and passenger manifests, of course.

The American People need to pressure the White House to reveal who was on that aircraft, and it's real mission.

Was the plane full of high level foreign and domestic Obama campaign contributors? Was it full of Hollywood celebrities? Inquiring minds want to know.

I wonder how many people are now realizing how very badly they were duped into voting for the usurper? How many are now seeing that the Lamestream Media will continue to prop up this teleprompter reading dummy and make it seem like his first 100 days have been successful?

Even other countries have noticed Obama's stupidity and incompetence!

Obama makes former President Bush look like a genius in comparison! Of course all presidents make mistakes. No president is perfect (Reagan was close and we now realize, more than ever, what a gem we had when he was our President!!!) but dare I say that Obama shows every indication that he is PURPOSELY TRYING TO DESTROY AMERICA!

On The Right Side of Life blog owner, Phil, has included commentary at the end of his post (above link) that reveals how obvious this is becoming. The proper name for Obama's terrible actions is called TREASON! Here's a copy of Phil's commentary:

Suffice it to say that issues such as eligibility are not going away. Furthermore, it is equally true and, I would wager, even more so if, in fact, this President truly does decide to shut down Guantanamo Bay, CIA “black” holding sites around the world, and otherwise continues to both signal and act in a way that severly diminishes America’s ability to protect and defend herself against her enemies, he will work this country towards being exceptionally exposed to attack.

And please do be aware of that, my fellow readers. While there is a difference between having an adversary (someone who merely disagrees with your stances) and having an enemy (someone who doesn’t just disagree with your viewpoint but is acting in some way to either specifically encumber you or, worse, destroy you), America doesn’t just exist because pieces of paper such as the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution say that it should.

Remember: any law that people make must be enforced. Otherwise, it is merely writing on a piece of paper that simply sounds good, chock full of good intentions. Laws must be enforced and, ultimately, the awesomely effective and efficient forces of the American military are her greatest offense and defense against her enemies.

Not only this, but whether the issue is eligibility or some other wrong that has been hoisted upon the American People and States can be quite easily rectified via the Bill of Rights. It must be understood by all that only States and the American People have rights; the federal government has none. The federal government only has those powers and authority specifically and expressly enumerated within the Constitution; any and all other such powers and authority are reserved to the States or the People to carry out.

Anyone is completely within their right to question their elected leadership anything they wish for the truth. To suggest that any such questioning is wrong or should be condemned is, in my opinion, being unpatriotic (after all, how else is one to hold those who govern us into account?) and being essentially treasonous.

“But, Phil, that’s such a strong word. How can someone be ‘treasonous’ if they’re saying that either you shouldn’t question politicians or that you’re wrong for doing so?” Quite simply, if the American People see wrongdoing on behalf of their elected leaders, and if the federal government will do nothing about it, and if the States aren’t doing anything about it, then, per the Bill of Rights — specifically the 10th Amendment — it is the obligation of the People to uphold the Constitution.

If the People do not uphold the Constitution against elected leaders who are acting unconstitutionally, then it is the People who are actually being treasonous, because it is expressly within their right to do so and subsequently can only blame themselves for such unconstitutional failings.

Even worse, when — not if — another terrorist attack befalls our great country, those who have not held their elected officials to account will have the blood of fellow Americans on their hands.

I think America’s founding fathers were absolutely serious about the type of government they were intending to form. It is the greatest and most demonstrative form of individual government ever created. Yet, if we, the People do not question for the truth, that government shall surely begin the process of disappearing from the earth.

Fortunately, there is a growing number of American citizens who are going to do everything in our collective power to make sure that doesn’t happen.

In the same illustrative vein as John Briscella's The Urban Gridded Notebook and Work AC's 49 Cities, we'll document with near encyclopedic breadth the fluctuating peripheries of Manhattan, Chicago, Singapore, Dubai, Tokyo and whatever cities that have undergone coastal expansion. San Francisco was once imagined with twin peninsular augments. What other cities were planned to be implanted with geological prosthesis? And what urban (hi)stories can one gleaned from these littoral recontouring?

It will be an antipode history to the future extractive history of sea level rise.

Thoughts on the Texans NFL draft...

What?

The OLB (USC's Cushing) I can understand, and I'm OK with Cincinatti's Connor Barwin, after all, most people consider him to be an OLB in the NFL anyway. If there's one thing the Texans needed, it's help at Linebacker and in the secondary.

What I don't understand is this: Not drafting ANYONE until the 7th (and final) round to address the glaring need at Safety, not getting a running back, and drafting TWO tight-ends?

The tight-end picks are especially confusing given that the current TE (Owen Daniels) was a pro-bowl player last season. The 'excuse' provided by local media is that the Texans needed a blocking tight end to plug in during short-yardage and obvious-run situations. OK, fine. That explains away Anthony Hill, but it doesn't go anywhere toward explaining James Casey. Now, don't get me wrong, I like Casey, I think he's going to be a fine player in the NFL. I'm just not sure if the Texans are the place where he can grow into being that good of a player. Rumor also has it that Casey will be used in the Wildcat formation, which means that the Texans used a 4th round pick on a player to run a gimmick offense that's likely to be figured out by NFL D-coordinators within a couple of years.

And, oh by the way, Liberty's Rashard Jennings was still on the board, a tough, no-nonsense RB that could have been the between-the-tackles solution that the Texans needed to fix their pathetic short-yardage offense. There's talk, especially by Chron.com writers, that the Texans are going to try and find an RB through the free agent process, but history proves the late-round drafting track record to be superior to the FA track record in running backs. More likely is the fact that writers are working to explain away Kubiak & Co's aversion to spending high draft picks on backs, something that worked for them in their Denver days, but which has proven less than successful in recent years. (How's that working out for Mike Shanahan these days?)

Most fans won't remember, because of the focus on David Carr, but the failure in the Texans organization during the Charlie Casserly/Dom Capers era wasn't, primarily, due to mistakes at the top of the draft. (although they did make several) Their failure was primarily in the second, third and fourth rounds, wasted rounds whose lack of production decimated a growing team.

This year's Texans made good picks in Rounds 1-2 & 6-7, everything else in the middle is subject to further review. It might be the A+ draft that Chron writers are portraying it as, but then again it might not. It might be a hot mess.

In this post update, I would like to talk about the main reasons that born again biblically-based Christians will NEVER accept same-sex marriage as valid. For some background information, I would point you to my sister blogsite "Protect Biblical Marriage" - especially the following posts:

What happened to Carrie Prejean is absolute proof that if national "hate crimes" legislation were to pass, millions of people will find their religious freedoms at risk. So you see, there is much more to this hotly debated issue than originally meets the eye.

There are dozens of blogposts that I could cite from Talk Wisdom about this subject. However, if I had to pick just one, I would recommend viewing the video of Pastor Miles McPherson - Marriage, The Image of God.

That message was given in February, 2008. It was given approximately 90 days before the California Supreme Court overturned Proposition 22 which simply stated, "Marriage in California is recognized as the union of one man and one woman."

In November of 2008, Proposition 8 passed by a majority of 52% of Californians (remember - most people in this state are very liberal) to place marriage as being recognized as the union of one man and one woman into the California Constitution.

Pastor Miles goes through the reasons why the passage of Proposition 8 is so very crucial for religious freedoms today.

Instead of backing up their Miss California winner, take a look at what the "officials" told Carrie to say to the press:

She told the congregation that officials from the Miss California USA pageant urged her to apologize.

Prejean said the officials were worried that her comments would cost their contest financial backing, and they tried to prepare her for post-pageant interviews by discouraging her from discussing her religious beliefs.
“ 'You need to apologize to the gay community. You need to not talk about your faith. This has everything to do with you representing California and saving the brand,' ” Prejean recalled being told.

In one of her T.V. interviews, I recall Carrie stating that if the Miss California organization doesn't think that she represents the state and wants to take back her crown - they can. This young woman was not going to back down! Bravo!!

In my study of the Bible and from various Christian sermons, lectures, and books, I have discovered that there is so much symbolism between God ordained marriage and the relationship between Jesus Christ and the church (all believers).

Marriage is God's idea! It was created by the Creator of the Universe! As Pastor Miles states in the above video, the enemy of our souls wants to poison God's will for our lives. Satan wants to twist the truth of God and make it into something that is the opposite of what God intends for our lives. This is true about ANY sin, by the way.

Notice in the San Diego Union Tribune article (above) that one church (that self-identifies as gay-behavior-affirming) allowed Carrie to have the right to have her opinion on this volatile issue. However, it wasn't left at that. Here's that portion of the article:

At the Metropolitan Community Church of San Diego, a gay-friendly church that holds services in University Heights, members said yesterday that they respect Prejean for standing up for her beliefs and support her right to speak her mind. They disagree with her position or insistence that God's blessing of marriage be reserved only for the union of a man and a woman.

“The Christian message is about freedom – freedom of speech and freedom of choice,” said church member Phil Ouellette.

Metropolitan church board member Bud Cheetham said same-sex marriage should not be scorned under the guise of spirituality.

Notice that Bud Cheetham didn't mention God's will.

Notice that he didn't mention God's Word - the Bible.

Notice that he didn't mention Jesus Christ.

What did he state as his point of reference for his beliefs?

Spirituality.

He stated, "same-sex marriage should not be scorned under the guise of spirituality."

That is poison. That is a distortion. That is placing man's beliefs over God's Word, will and guidance via the Bible.

What is spirituality? It is whatever man claims it to be. It is whatever man wants it to be. It is man's attempt to be his own god. It is a way to send people into a kind of spiritual oblivion - ruled by man's feelings, emotions, sexual proclivities (especially sinful ones), and dismisses God's laws, the true gospel of Jesus Christ, and the reconciliation of God towards man when he/she accepts Christ as Lord and Savior.

All throughout the Bible Jesus is portrayed as the Groom and the church is the Bride. It is a blood covenant (consider the virgin bride), just as Christ's sacrifice was a blood covenant for our redemption.

In marriage, "the two become one flesh" when the marriage is consummated. In typical marriage vows, the pastor often states, "and let no man put asunder" - or - let no man break up such a covenant.

As we reach the culmination of history, there will be an event called the rapture. This is when Jesus returns and believers "meet the Lord in the air" to be with Him forevermore. After the rapture of the church, there will be a "Marriage Supper of the Lamb" in heaven with all saved believers. It will be a celebration like none other.

While here on earth, we are to eat the bread and drink the wine (juice) in remembrance of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross for our salvation. The elements represent the body and blood of Jesus Christ. As often as we eat of the bread and drink of the juice - we affirm the Lord's death until he comes again (at the rapture) for his Bride - the church of Christ.

Marriage is a church issue. It doesn't (and shouldn't) have anything to do with the government. Don't be blinded by all these legal maneuverings. It doesn't have to do with what is "fair" - it has to do with what is right! This is why marriage is being attacked.

As Pastor Miles states in the video, "Same-sex marriage is an attack on God's symbol of salvation and the power of His image."

It is a perverted version of God's symbol of salvation and the power of His image.

This is why (perhaps unbeknownst to some) a true, born-again Biblical Christian CAN NOT EVER SUPPORT same-sex marriage. You can't have one foot in the world, and one foot in God's Will for your life without being split apart! Plus, the truth is that you will drift towards one direction or the other. It is impossible to honor God and man at the same time. One will triumph over the other. It's a given.

This is why Carrie Prejean, when asked that question, had to decide between answering the way the worldly crowd would want her to respond in order to win the earthly Miss U.S.A. crown, or, answer from her born-again, God honoring convictions in her heart to please God and have the eternal crown of life as provided through Jesus Christ our Lord!
We know her choice.
