"Everybody welcome @Teedramoses to the MMG Family!!!," Ross tweeted, followed with the hash tag "#SHESELFMADE," a reference to Maybach Music Group's upcoming compilation album, 'Self Made,' due on May 24.
Moses dropped her critically acclaimed debut, 'Complex Simplicity' in 2004, but has yet to release her long awaited follow-up, 'The Young Lioness.' She said that the communication with Ross began via Twitter, when she received a late night DM from him, inquiring about her label status. The Twitter conversation quickly led to collaboration, as Moses and Ross both live in Miami, and now the "young lioness" has officially signed with his Warner-distributed imprint.
"I like the way they move and I like the hunger, and I like that it's all about work," Moses explained. "As much as Rick talks about the glitz and glamor or whatever, he goes hard and he works hard, so I rock with that. And that's what I do. I work hard, I rock shows, I touch the people and I try to make good music. I'm not really into the hoopla."
While Moses' debut was not a commercial success, she achieved the respect of many of her peers, writing songs for artists like Mary J. Blige, Christina Milian, Nivea, Macy Gray and co-writing and appearing on two songs with Raphael Saadiq. She has also "given" several songs to Ross for his MMG 'Self Made' album, which hits shelves May 24.
