Tickets for the United States-leg of Rihanna’s Loud tour haven’t been selling as quickly as was hoped and the Barbados-bred singer may have to cancel dates as a result, according to our sources.
One of the highlighted dates is RiRi’s scheduled performance at the TD Garden arena in Boston, Massachusetts on July 24. In order to break even, 15,000 tickets would have to be sold but thus far only 3,700 units have been sold. If more aren’t moved, then her performing that day would result in a more than a half-million in losses.
“It has been a big disappointment,” said an unidentified source to the New York Post. “The ticket sales in big US cities like Boston are so bad, they will barely cover basics like the lighting and other arena costs. Tour managers are begging local radio stations to do giveaways.”
This isn’t the first time that the Def Jam starlet has run into trouble with ticket sales. Last year during her Last Girl On Earth tour, Rihanna had to cancel dates in several cities including Atlanta and Dallas due to poor sales.
“She should’ve been doing theaters and smaller venues,” commented an insider to the Post. “She’s not ready to headline an arena tour.”
