Obama's Lack of Respect is Truly Disgusting

Gateway Pundit had one of the first posts online about Obambi's lack of respect for military families. The fact is that 19 of the 30 families requested that NO MEDIA COVERAGE OR PHOTOS be taken at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware upon the arrival of the remains of our brave warriors who were killed in the Chinook helicopter that was shot down by Taliban terrorists in Afghanistan. So...what does Obama do? He has a shadowed photo taken of himself (I mean C'MON! Does anyone recognize anyone else in that photo??) which TOTALLY DISRESPECTS the requests of the grieving families. Can this creepy, crooked, evil b*****d sink any lower than this?? I'm just outraged and appalled!! I'm SO ANGRY so how must the family members in deep grief feel about this??

All that this dumbass Obamarxist cares about is trying to bolster up his terribly deadbeat image for the upcoming election. IMO, he's making himself look like an absolute idiot!! A clueless blunderer who has no genuine honor or integrity. He doesn't even know right from wrong, good from evil, how to be ethical vs. unethical, or even HOW TO SALUTE PROPERLY!

Now if this event took place on Saturday and the msm noted it took four days to gather the wreckage and remains, how is it these remains were prepared, loaded and flown across half the planet . . . from Afghanistan and managed to arrive for this photo op by mid day Wednesday, four days after the attack? Stretching credibility a bit?

Why are the afghan remains shipped stateside at taxpayer expense?

Millions of prayers are being sent up by Christian Americans who are repenting of their sins and asking God to save our nation from this gangster government. I believe that God is working this out in His own time and even though it appears that our prayers aren't always answered right away, He is holding us up during the time being. This would-be dictator-in-chief Obama is losing power, respect and support from millions of people who once supported him in the past. I don't even believe some of these polls that still give him a 40% approval rating. I think it's much lower. When lefty columnists like Maureen Dowd start questioning Obama's ability to be CIC, you KNOW that he's in deep, deep trouble.

My prayer today:

Lord Jesus? You are sovereign over all. Your timing is always perfect. Mine is not. Ours is not. We are finite and therefore do not know all. You are infinite and all-knowing! We humbly place our hearts, minds, souls and bodies in your hands. I continue to pray for your Hand of protection to be upon our beloved nation. Many have learned their lesson that someone spouting "hope and change" may not have the change that they were genuinely hoping for. Such hope only comes from YOU - dear Lord Jesus Christ! We love You and trust You. Amen.

The President's unrelenting quest for attention was the sole reason that the crushed parents, brokenhearted wives, and confused children were denied the simple request for a private moment of grief.

Aaron Vaughn's Family Interview

In my previous post, I expressed the fact that many bloggers sensed that something was fishy about the attack on the Chinook helicopter that claimed the lives of 30 members of our armed forces, including 22 SEALS from SEAL Team 6.  Reporters in the field for FOX News have expressed how unusual it was for 22 members of an elite SEAL team to be placed on one helicopter.  He stated that "it had never been done before."

Will we ever know the truth about what happened and why it happened?   With the way this evil administration covers up crimes we may never know - this side of heaven at least.   However,  one family who lost their son, Aaron Vaughn (one of the deceased SEAL heroes), evidently knows what devastation is happening to our country because of this terrible administration. They got the chance to say it during an interview with Matt Lauer. They lifted up the name of Christ, mentioned  love for this country, and why Aaron was willing to give his life for this nation.

The entire interview is absolutely riveting. The father says exactly what kind of war we are in. However, pay special attention to what Aaron's father says about "the three types of people" in the world and how some of the "sheep in high places said things that made the SEAL Team 6 families very uncomfortable" 90 days ago when supposedly secret information about the OBL raid was revealed.

Be prepared. It is absolutely heart wrenching. But the interview also shows the great faith that Aaron and his entire family have in Jesus Christ. That is the victory in the midst of tragedy and grief.




May God bless each and every one of these brave men who gave their lives in service to the protection of our country. I pray that they were all believers in Jesus Christ, just like Aaron Vaughn was, and that they are all together with Christ in heaven. I pray for strength, comfort, and peace for the families of the victims of this terrible tragedy. May the God of our Lord Jesus Christ comfort them during this time of enormous grief. Amen.

“Can’t anybody here play this game?”


The president, revealing himself to be Barack Obungle, has done what nobody else could have done, not even the spectacularly hapless original New York Mets, who drove Casey Stengel to his famous cry of terminal frustration.


The White House converted a picture-perfect military operation into a public-relations disaster that will be cited as what not to do and how not to do it in flackery textbooks for a hundred years. Days after the raid on Osama bin Laden’s “mansion” they still can’t get the “fact pattern,” in the language of the White House, even close to straight.


Even that ubiquitous photograph of the president, the secretary of state and assorted minions bravely watching the operation in “real time” looks now to have been a “photo-op” taken after the fact. This is the scene that the goofy John Brennan, the president’s anti-terrorism chief, described as one of unbearable tension endured heroically by the magnificent minions. Hillary seemed to be clutching her throat, choking back terror as she watched the raid unfold, but now Leon Panetta, the chief of the CIA, reveals that 24 minutes of the 40-minute video were “blacked out” by some kind of electronic malfunction. Maybe she was only wishing she had ordered pepperoni with extra cheese when the president sent out for pizza.


Can anyone imagine FDR and his generals canceling D-Day because an invasion might infuriate the Germans?


What a roller coaster ride: Osama bin Laden engaged the Seals in a firefight. Well, no, actually, it turns out he didn’t. But he did seize a woman, probably one of his wives, to use as a human shield. Uh, well, actually he didn’t do that, either. But he was armed, we know that for sure. Ummm, no, not really. OK, but we’re positive that woman was killed. Uh, not exactly. But we definitely, positively, absolutely know that Osama is dead. We have the photographs to prove it and the public can see them. Er, no, not quite. The president has them but you can’t see them. Everybody will just have to take his word for it.

That won’t happen, either. There was a time when everybody took a president’s word for everything. But nobody trusts the government on anything any more. Lies have withered public patience. Too bad, Mr. President, but you’ll have to show us the death certificate. No reasonable man can doubt that Osama is dead, dead, dead, but we’re talking now about the Middle East.

You might think the president would have rehearsed his minions in a story, even if concocted, so everybody would tell it like it is. The White House finally shut up with the explanation that “the fact pattern” is still being evaluated. It’s only now dawning on the president that he has done everything possible to guarantee an enduring worldwide harangue over whether Osama is in fact dead, how he was killed, whether dumping the body in the sea was wise, whether how he died violated the decencies of international custom, and whether burial traditions of Shariah law were followed before Osama became the ultimate fish dinner.

Alan Dershowitz, the Harvard law professor and one of the most distinguished criminal lawyers in the land, says “burying his body at sea constituted the willful destruction of evidence.” The doubts that will be contrived by Muslim red-hots would have been prevented if Osama’s body had been subjected to the usual forensic testing, extensive examination of entrance and exit wounds, and paraffin testing for gunpowder residue. “Dead bodies,” he writes in an essay in the Wall Street Journal, “often talk more loudly, clearly and unambiguously than live witnesses.” He notes that when a Muslim or a Jew is murdered in the United States “religious considerations do not trump civil circumstances.”

But the real offense of the Washington wimpery is pushing a weakling’s canard against the military, asserting that the photograph can’t be shown because it would make Muslim terrorists cross at us. But surely the Army and the Navy can take care of themselves; soldiers, sailors and Marines aren’t Campfire Girls. Can anyone imagine FDR and his generals canceling D-Day because an invasion might infuriate the Germans? Or that a Muslim terrorist will now salute an American soldier in Afghanistan and put down his rifle and grenade launcher, telling him “we really appreciate your president’s keeping that ugly photograph to himself.”

Americans come from Mars, so the witticism goes, and Europeans are from Venus. But that doesn’t include this president and his bungling minions. They’re weepy refugees from Pluto.

I ask once again.  Is it any wonder why the American public is very busy searching for the truth on the Internet about what actually happened that day?  Three cheers for the Navy SEALS who did a magnificent job! Can't say the same about how the White House handled the aftermath.

Is This Justice? Or, Just Fixed?

If you were to ask me if Lieutenant Colonel Terry Lakin is being given justice, I would have to answer with A BIG FAT NO!!

Lieutenant Colonel Terrence Lakin, a distinguished Army flight surgeon, is "certain" to be convicted of disobeying orders, according to his lawyer, Neil Puckett.

LTC Lakin will go on trial December 14 for refusing to deploy with his unit to Afghanistan. The senior officer questioned the legal validity of his orders because they originate ultimately with President Barack Obama, whose eligibility to serve as commander in chief under article II of the U.S. Constitution remains unproven.

"Based on the evidence available, his conviction is certain," Puckett told WND. "He has no affirmative defense for the offenses he committed."

"There is not much left to do" in defense of his client, Puckett said. Lakin's previous defense counsel, Paul Jensen, already "sought discovery of documents, and to introduce evidence and expert witnesses, but the judge shut down all those efforts."

What is this? Nazi Germany??

I'm not a lawyer, but I must admit that I have never heard of a judge "shutting down all efforts" for a person to present evidence in his defense.

During a September hearing, Colonel Denise Lind, the judge in the case, censored the last remaining arguments Lakin planned to make in his defense: motive and duty. Lakin had intended to explain his motive for disobeying the order and contend that it was his duty as a good soldier to disobey orders that he believed to be illegal.

Lind also rejected defense requests to call as witnesses Ambassador Alan Keyes and retired Air Force Lt. Gen. Thomas McInerney. Keyes was to explain the constitutional issues involved in the case, and McInerney was to talk about the training soldiers receive regarding when they should question and even disobey orders.

Stripped by the court of all possible defenses that might have justified his actions, Lakin has no chance of prevailing at trial.

To me, this is a very strange turn of events. Perhaps the military "justice" system can legally twist things in order to do this to an honorable army surgeon, but is it right? I certainly don't think so!

You need to read the entire article for all of the details. However, there is one ray of hope in the end:

Once guilt or innocence has been determined by his jurors, the trial will move to a presentencing hearing, when Lakin will have an unfettered opportunity to introduce mitigating evidence that might justify his disobedience in spite of Judge Lind's limitations on the scope of the trial.

"If he were to be convicted, he would have an open microphone to talk to the panel of jurors," said Puckett.

An open microphone to talk to the panel of jurors might break the eligibility issue wide open. Unless the Lamestream media still refuses to cover it.

I agree with the conclusion of the article:

"Every American should support Lakin," said Arizona organizer Jeff Lichter, a retired high school physical education teacher. "Don't we all have a simple right to ask who our president is? Is he legitimate, is he qualified? That's all Terry is asking. He has every right to ask the question, he asked it for a long time before he went public.

"They're not even going to allow him to put up any evidence, We feel the trial is already rigged, and they're denying him his due process rights, He's been denied access to records in Hawaii. He's been told by Judge Lind that the orders he's refusing to obey came from the Pentagon, not the commander in chief, so his question whether the commander in chief is eligible is irrelevant. It's ridiculous. It's all fixed."

Lichter's rallies will take place at the state offices of Arizona Republican senators John McCain, and Richard Kyl, and U.S. Rep. Trent Franks, R-Ariz.

"We have 535 congressmen and none are ready to ask for an investigation of this issue? We just want these officials who have not kept their oaths to defend the constitution. They're not doing it," said Lichter.

"Nobody has been able to break what's apparently a cover-up of this issue. We want people to know about this in spite of the media blackout."

Thanking Our Troops In The Cause For Freedom

This video of former President George W. Bush and former First Lady Laura Bush welcoming our troops home brought tears to my eyes - for so many reasons. For one thing, respect, honor and trust were in style. Thank you to our brave returning soldiers! And, thank you Mr. and Mrs. GW Bush, for pleasantly surprising our brave soldiers upon their return. They valiantly served our country to liberate the Iraqis from tyranny and oppression! Thank you ALL for keeping America safe and the place where FREEDOM RINGS!

Obama Sets Up Our Military to Fail

Is it just me, or did anyone else notice that the only applause Obama got during that terribly weak speech last night was when he praised (paraphrased here) 'our brave soldiers working hard in the field to keep our nation safe'; and then finally when the speech was over? Oh wait - my paraphrase sounds more like something that President George W. Bush would say...and has said over the eight years of his presidency. I will need to look at the transcript to see what Obama actually said.

At the conclusion of the weak sermon...I mean "speech", the young cadets at West Point were probably clapping because they were glad that Obama was done preaching at them!

Didn't most of what Obama said sound condescending and preachy? I noticed that Obama especially targeted those who might disagree with (the silly title of) his "overseas contingency operation" decision. He verbally pointed his finger at the American people in the T.V. audience; blasting our objections to his stupid non-winning plan even before we had the chance to express them after the speech. After all, Obama is all about protecting his image - more than anything (like, OUR NATION!) or anyone (like, OUR SOLDIERS, MARINES, AIRMEN, AND NAVY!) else.

Did you hear him say anything about winning the war over there? I didn't. Did you hear him say the word "victory" even once? How utterly PATHETIC!!

The looks on the faces of the cadets must have mirrored what the American people were feeling as we all watched just another one of Obama's excruciatingly painful stage shows on parade in the West Point venue. I didn't see any smiles. I didn't see any looks of confidence in this bogus POTUS being evident on the cadet's faces. I didn't see any looks of feeling that Obama GENUINELY CARES about our military - except for maybe that brief moment when Obama read the words off of his teleprompter that someone else inevitably wrote for him to say.

Isn't it creepy that the guy doesn't seem to have any real emotion(s) to express when he's up there lecturing all of us Americans?

At church this last Sunday, Pastor Miles McPherson did a wrap-up on his body language series of sermons. One point that stands out (and applies here) is the fact that most people share only 7% of what they really mean and are thinking - in a verbal manner; whereas the other 93% is done through body language.

What does Obama's body language say?

I'm no expert, but I can trust my gut and say how his words and dour, unemotional body language made me feel.

I, as well as millions of other Americans are NOT confident in his ability to be Commander in Chief; and we are legitimately and highly worried that he is sending more troops into Afghanistan just for the purpose of being able to say that he "listened" to his military commanders in the field.

But what is this horribly weak strategy telling us? Reader, what is your gut feeling about it all?

This morning, during the Congressional hearings on the war, John McCain asked how is it that Obama can set a date for withdrawal from Afghanistan in 18 months without giving the American people pause about his commitment to win there? It's either one or the other!!

This continuing, sickening nightmare of an administration is just too much to listen to anymore. I'm about ready to turn off my radio, T.V. and Internet so that I can enjoy a Blessed Christmas season, concentrate on, and celebrate one of the greatest moments (the second was Christ's Resurrection) in world history - the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Col. Ralph Peters asks, if Obama will send 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan, but, "begin the transfer of our forces out of Afghanistan in July of 2011," then why send them?

If you're going to tell the Taliban to be patient because we're leaving, what's the point in upping the blood ante? For what will come down to a single year by the time the troops hit the ground? Does Obama really expect to achieve in one year what we haven't been able to do in more than eight?

After eight years of failure to create effective Afghan security forces and a responsible government, does anyone believe we can do it in 12 to 18 months?

"Target the insurgency"? Does that mean our soldiers will finally be permitted to go after our enemies and kill them? Nope. Those troops are going to "secure population centers." We'll be passive and let the enemy choose where and when to strike.

When fighting insurgents and terrorists, if you're not slamming them up against the wall and breaking their bones, you're losing. Obama isn't sending more troops -- he's sending more targets.

Adding to the confusion, Obama qualified his timeline by insisting that "we will execute this transition responsibly, taking into account conditions on the ground." If conditions of the ground are key, why announce a pullout date?

Obama is setting up our military to fail -- but he'll be able to claim that he gave the generals what they wanted. Failure will be their fault. He's covering his strong-on-security flank, even as he plays to our white-flag wavers. His cynicism's worthy of a Saddam. Does he really believe that young Afghans are going to line up to join the army and police knowing that we plan to abandon them in mid-2011?

Does the 2012 election ring a bell?

This isn't just stupid: It's immoral. No American president has ever espoused such a worthless, self-absorbed non-strategy for his own political gratification.

On the other hand, the stage lighting and the camera angles at West Point were terrific, Obama's delivery was superb -- but what he was delivering was a funeral oration.

Simon Jenkins, writing in the Guardian (UK), believes Obama has no stomach for this fight, and his "strategy" is a frantic bid to rescue what promises to be a stumbling re-election campaign that must start in 2011. It oozes with his desperation not to be in Afghanistan.

I'll go further. Obama's "strategy" is nuts! His goals are to "deny al Qaeda a safe haven," and to bribe the Taliban to lay down their arms.

The only way to deny al Qaeda a safe haven is to invade Pakistan -- and he's not going to do that -- and you can't bribe a "true believer."

Obama used the word "I" 45 times in his pompous, political, and pathetic speech, but he never once uttered the words "win" or "victory."

In a related event, Chris Matthews, commenting on the speech, referred to the United States Military Academy, at West Point, as "the enemy camp," providing more evidence that MSNBC is, in fact, "the enemy camp."

Now that I got all of that off my chest, I am taking a deep breath and going over to the links included in The Obama File post.

I grieve deeply for our nation today. I grieve for our military to be in the hands of an incompetent dolt who pretends to listen to his military commanders, but cuts in half the amount of troops needed for victory. (McCrystal asked for 40,000 - 60,000). The only sense of real mission I get from this speech is that we’re going to send 30,000 more troops now so we can start evacuating all of them in the summer of 2011. It sounds like a slow-motion Dunkirk, and it recalls what Winston Churchill had to say after being congratulated for rescuing the entire British Army and a good portion of the French Army in 1940 from that massive cross-Channel evacuation: “Wars are not won by evacuations.” And apparently Obama agrees, since he didn’t bother to talk about victory at all, but instead treated it as a massive responsibility that he reluctantly will fulfill.

What’s the point of sending troops into a far off war zone, if you know you’re going to be sending them home in a few months, win or lose?

One Of My Worst Fears [Added Links]

Ever since the horrendous terrorist attack that occurred on U.S. soil on 9/11/01 by radical Islamic terrorists, one of my worst fears has been infiltration of terrorist individuals (or cells) here in the United States. Why should we ever believe that they aren't already here? They have been for some time.

Yesterday was a shock beyond belief. It was the worst terrorist attack perpetrated against our military on a military base here in the United States. I could not sleep last night! I kept waking up and turning on the T.V. for more news about the murderer.

Sometimes, I have found that it is better for other people to give details rather than express my own thoughts and worries on the matter. The following two links are not the usual politically correct spin that you will most likely hear on the MSM news broadcasts. At least Fox News has been more up front about the possible motive. Bill Hemmer reported that the shooter yelled "Allah Akbar" before gunning down 44 people. Personally, I think that the details coming forward now show that the man was a radical Islamic terrorist. Whether he was radicalized after being in the army (or before 9/11) or after is what might need to be investigated.

6 November 2009: The shooting attack at Ft. Hood Thursday by a Muslim soldier is anything but an isolated incident. It is the latest in a series of attacks by Muslim soldiers who have violated their oath to protect and defend this country, instead placing their allegiance in the religion, culture and political system known as Islam. Even if it is ultimately determined that Nidal Malik HASAN was the sole perpetrator in this mass murder, there are co-conspirators.

The co-conspirators are each and every politician, policymaker and pundit who has force-fed the American people the lie that Islam “is a religion of peace” or is a “religion hijacked. Whether it is for the shallow purposes of political expediency, political correctness or just plain naiveté, those who espouse and advance this perilous view have their share of innocent blood on their hands.

The latest murderous rampage should be sufficient to illustrate that Islam is totally incompatible with freedom, democracy and Western culture. Faced with the choice between upholding their oath to the United States and advancing Islam by any means possible, it will always be the latter. As soon as people begin to understand and accept this concept, we can better secure our homeland and lower the potential body count of innocent men, women and children.

There are some who contend - with a straight face, no less - that “Post Traumatic Stress Disorder” (PTSD) might be the cause for HASAN’s murder spree. The only “stressors” in this case would result from attempting to reconcile the irreconcilable.

If the mass murder at Ft. Hood yesterday is not convincing enough, how about the March 23, 2003 grenade attack by Muslim Sgt. Hasan Karim Akbar that killed Army Captain Christopher Seifert and Air Force Major Gregory Stone and wounded 14 others? Or the June 1st, 2009 shooting attack at the Little Rock recruiting center by 23 year-old Muslim Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad, who killed two officers?

Of course, the treachery is not just limited to murder. While serving as a naval signalman on board the USS Benfoldin the months following the attack on the USS Cole, Hassan Abujihaad (a/k/a Paul R. Hall) actively provided Islamic terrorists with sensitive information about the location of Navy ships and their weaknesses. He also discussed sniper attacks on military personnel and attacks on U.S. military recruitment sites with Muslim terrorists as well. For his crimes, Abujihaad is currently serving a ten-(10) year sentence.

There is also U.S. Army captain James “Yousef” LEE, the former Muslim chaplain charged with espionage while serving at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. YEE was arrested at a U.S. airport on charges of espionage after he was caught in possession of detailed maps of the detention facility along with other classified materials. In addition to YEE, two other Islamic Arabic translators stationed at Guantanamo were convicted of unauthorized possession of classified documents.

Ultimately, the U.S. Army opted not to proceed with the espionage charges against YEE due to national security concerns arising from the evidence that would be made available to the public at the trial.Nonetheless, the facts are the facts.

The common thread here is Islam. Allowing Muslims to serve in the U.S. military in 2009 makes as much sense as if we would have allowed Nazi’s to serve in our armed forces in 1939. It would have been lunacy then, and its lunacy now.

"He said Muslims had a right to attack" the U.S., said Col. Terry Lee, who worked with Hasan at the Texas post, where the devout Sunni Muslim refused deployment. "He said Muslims shouldn't be fighting Muslims," he added. "He was very clear on that."

Shockingly, a growing number of other Muslim American soldiers as well as civilian contractors have put their religion before their duty. Some like Hasan have killed, or tried to kill, their fellow soldiers. Others have infiltrated the military in order to undermine it and aid and comfort the enemy.

According to an explosive new book, "Muslim Mafia: Inside the Secret Underworld That's Conspiring to Islamize America," Hasan is just the tip of a jihadist Fifth Column operating within the ranks of the U.S. military – which is too blinded by political correctness to see the threat.

Security officials at Gitmo have been investigating a possible new spy ring involving several "dirty" Arabic linguists who are accused among other things of:

omitting valuable intelligence from their translations of detainee interrogations;


slipping notes to detainees inside copies of the Quran;


coaching detainees to make allegations of abuse against interrogators; and


meeting with suspects on the terrorist watch list while traveling back in the United States.

More than 75 former Gitmo detainees have returned to the battlefield or anti-American jihad. Some met with the suspect Muslim translators. Others were privately counseled by chaplains also under investigation for security breaches.

Gitmo security officials recently met with FBI agents in Philadelphia to aid their investigation into one of the Muslim linguists under contract at Gitmo, according to sources quoted in the book who are familiar with the investigation.

They also this summer briefed members of Congress about the prison camp's internal security breaches, according to "Muslim Mafia," which is co-authored by former federal agent P. David Gaubatz and investigative journalist Paul Sperry, author of "Infiltration: How Muslim Spies and Subversives Have Penetrated Washington," which is being used by law enforcement and the military.

"Three years of investigations have revealed the presence of pro-jihad/anti-Western activities among the civilian contractor and military linguist population serving Joint Task Force Guantanamo," states a copy of the classified Gitmo briefing, which was prepared in May 2009 for the FBI and CIA, as well as the congressional intelligence committees.

Three minutes in, the president spoke about the shooting, in measured and appropriate terms. Who is advising him?

Anyone at home aware of the major news story of the previous hours had to have been stunned. An incident like this requires a scrapping of the early light banter. The president should apologize for the tone of his remarks, explain what has happened, express sympathy for those slain and appeal for calm and patience until all the facts are in. That's the least that should occur.

Indeed, an argument could be made that Obama should have canceled the Indian event, out of respect for people having been murdered at an Army post a few hours before. That would have prevented any sort of jarring emotional switch at the event.

Did the president's team not realize what sort of image they were presenting to the country at this moment? The disconnect between what Americans at home knew had been going on -- and the initial words coming out of their president's mouth was jolting, if not disturbing.

I must admit, I had the same, sick-to-my-stomach reaction when Obama showed just how soulless he really can be...

A True Patriot!

One of the most difficult things to do in this life is to go up against the "powers that be" in any situation. When a person has a grievance, especially when it is being sought against the most powerful man in the world, that person's life could be at risk. I have no doubt that the pressures being leveled against soldier Scott Easterling are enormous. Yet, he will not cower under such pressure. He is a true American hero and true patriot!

A U.S. soldier on active duty in Iraq has called President Obama an "impostor" in a statement in which he affirmed plans to join as plaintiff in a challenge to Obama's eligibility to be commander in chief.

The statement was publicized by California attorney Orly Taitz who, along with her Defend Our Freedom Foundation, is working on a series of legal cases seeking to uncover Obama's birth records and other documents that would reveal whether he meets the requirements of the U.S. Constitution.

"As an active-duty officer in the United States Army, I have grave concerns about the constitutional eligibility of Barack Hussein Obama to hold the office of president of the United States," wrote Scott Easterling in a "to-whom-it-may-concern" letter.


Obama "has absolutely refused to provide to the American public his original birth certificate, as well as other documents which may prove or disprove his eligibility," Easterling wrote. "In fact, he has fought every attempt made by concerned citizens in their effort to force him to do so."

Taitz told WND she had advised Easterling to obtain legal counsel before making any statements regarding the commander-in-chief, but he insisted on moving forward. His contention is that as an active member of the U.S. military, he is required to follow orders from a sitting president, and he needs – on pain of court-martial – to know that Obama is eligible.

Taitz said other legal cases questioning Obama's eligibility filed by members of the military mostly have included retired officers, and courts several times have ruled they don't have standing to issue their challenge.

Easterling, however, is subject to enemy fire and certainly would have a reason to need to know the legitimacy of his orders, she argued.

"Until Mr. Obama releases a 'vault copy' of his original birth certificate for public review, I will consider him neither my Commander in Chief nor my President, but rather, a usurper to the Office – an impostor," his statement said.

Easterling said he joined the Army at age 40 after working in Iraq as a contractor.

"I chose to work … to support my troops and then left that lucrative position when the Army raised its maximum enlistment age to 40. Upon completion of basic training, I entered Officer Candidate School and commissioned as a 2LT in August 2007. After completing the subsequent basic officer leadership courses, I was assigned to Ft. Knox and shortly thereafter deployed to Balad, Iraq," he wrote.

"I implore all service-members and citizens to contact their senators and representatives and demand that they require Mr. Obama prove his eligibility. Our Constitution and our great nation must not be allowed to be disgraced," he wrote.

Taitz said Easterling is among the plaintiffs she is assembling for a new legal action over Obama's eligibility. Others include a list of state lawmakers who also would be required in their official position to follow orders of the president.

"My conviction is such that I am compelled to join Dr. Orly Taitz's lawsuit, as a plaintiff, against Mr. Obama. As a citizen, it pains me to do this, but as an officer, my sworn oath to support and defend our Constitution requires this action," he said.

Easterling was "saluted" in a forum on Taitz' website.

"Lt. Easterling, As a retired US Army SFC, I salute you sir as a true American patriot and hero! Thank you for your unselfish service to our country. It is rare to find someone today with such moral courage to do the right thing regardless of repercussions," said one contributor.

Said another, "For your voluntary service to our country, we owe you a debt we can never pay." /quote

McCain's War Story

A broad consensus is forming -- encompassing the likes of Bill O'Reilly and Whoopi Goldberg -- that the invasion of Iraq was a mistake regardless of the outcome. Senator McCain has defended the Surge, but not the Iraq War. He is missing a chance to reveal the naïveté of his opponent.


Everyone knows that the Bush Administration made some avoidable mistakes early in the Iraq war. However, after the bold troop surge and the change of strategy designed by General Petraeus, victory is in sight. But no one is celebrating. .


Senator Barack Obama fuels the growing consensus by referring to the Iraq war as a "dumb war." In the first presidential debate, when Obama confronted Senator John McCain on his early support for the Iraq war, McCain changed the subject. In their second debate, Obama attacked the wisdom of the war even harder, and McCain conspicuously avoided the issue. No doubt McCain feels Obama's "dumb war" narrative tightening around his neck like a noose.


But McCain should not hide from the true story of the war in Iraq. Far from being a "dumb war," underneath our mistakes in Iraq lay several strokes of strategic genius. The American people-especially those who have made great personal sacrifices-deserve to hear again the compelling reasons why we invaded Iraq, and how a victory in Iraq could vindicate their sacrifices.


Choosing the Battlefield


It is a basic principle of warfare that a commander must never allow his enemy to select the terrain on which he fights. The attacks of 11 September 2001 were designed for the primary purpose of drawing the United States into Afghanistan, which is Al Qaeda's preferred kill-zone. Al Qaeda helped defeat the Soviet Union there. When the Soviet Union subsequently collapsed, Al Qaeda leaders were convinced they had discovered a formula for destroying infidel super-powers: draw them into the God-forsaken moonscape of Afghanistan to fight a protracted war. Al Qaeda knew it would require a spectacular provocation to lure the U.S. military into Afghanistan. Hence 9/11.


Rather than fall for Al Qaeda's "rope-a-dope" ploy, the Bush administration's war planners examined the global situation. Just as America did not charge headlong into Japan after the attack on Pearl Harbor, we would not launch a massive invasion of Afghanistan after 9/11. Sure, we could have staged a massive invasion of Afghanistan, but to what end? A large-scale war there would cost many lives and untold resources but would render almost no strategic advantage against the global network of terrorists and their state sponsors.


Instead, President Bush would send a small force to Afghanistan to disperse the Taliban and work with NATO to disrupt Al Qaeda and police the border with Pakistan. To engage the enemy head-on, he would select a battlefield better suited to our strategy.


Iraq - the Obvious Choice


The biggest threat to America was -- and still is -- another 9/11 style attack incorporating nuclear, chemical or biological weapons. Even before 9/11, Saddam Hussein's Iraq was a beehive of terrorists and WMD activity. Saddam funded Palestinian terrorism. He gave safe haven to notorious terrorists. He hosted bases for six different terrorist groups. His own "Fedayeen Saddam" was operating training camps in Iraq for terrorists from all over the Middle East.


Just prior to 9/11, a Washington think-tank concluded that the most lethal threat to the United States would come from a biological or chemical attack. Biological and chemical weapons were Saddam's forte. One of the few living humans to have actually deployed chemical weapons on a large scale, Saddam was known to possess large stockpiles of them (inspectors inventoried them after the first Gulf War) but refused to provide evidence of their disposal. He had vigorous anthrax and smallpox programs, and he maintained dual-use facilities that could be converted within mere weeks to biological and chemical weapons factories. And yes, he maintained a skeleton nuclear weapons program, ready to be reconstituted as soon as he could beat U.N. sanctions and inspections with help from Russia and France.


All of this made a good case for regime change before 9/11, which is why regime change was the stated goal of the Clinton Administration and Congress before George W. Bush was elected. Every known method to contain Iraq had been tried and had failed: weapons inspections, economic sanctions, U.N. resolutions, and targeted strikes. Editors of the Washington Post and New York Times warned that containment was not working. Military action against Iraq was publicly espoused to varying degrees by Democrats Joe Biden, Ted Kennedy, Carl Levin, Tom Daschle, John Kerry, Hillary Clinton, Al Gore and others.


Although these Democrats were among the first to call for retreat when the war became difficult, their pre-9/11 assessment of the Iraqi threat was correct. After 9/11, leaders of both major parties were all the more devoted to "connecting the dots" between terrorist groups and WMD. For anyone paying attention, Iraq was covered with dots.


In addition, the Bush team knew an invasion of Iraq would bring the terrorists to a battlefield on which an American victory could change the entire course of the global war on terror. If a stable representative government could be established there, the entire dynamics of the region could be altered for the better. We would have a new ally that shares a passable boarder with Iran. Perhaps a new Iraq would even give rise to the one antidote for the spreading disease of militant Islam: a Muslim nation willing to fight against Muslim extremists. Unlike Afghanistan, Iraq had the infrastructure, resources, and political history to make such a vision possible.


When Barack Obama quips that Al Qaeda was not in Iraq prior to our invasion, he shows his naïveté. The influx of Al Qaeda into Iraq did not discredit the Bush plan, it vindicated it. Further vindication came when in 2005 Ayman al-Zawahiri deemed Iraq the "place for the greatest battle of Islam in this era." We had refused to take the bait in Afghanistan. Instead, we selected a battleground that could yield results beyond mere retribution. We had a lot to learn about our chosen battlefield and would make fateful errors, but ultimately our military would learn to fight well in Iraq.


The Surge


The small-force strategy that routed the Taliban did not work in Iraq. It actually prolonged the Iraq war and gave credibility to Bush's critics. When things got bad, Obama and others clamored for the U.S. to withdraw. Biden argued for a partition of Iraq that would have yielded disaster. But when President Bush teamed with Senator McCain to support a troop "surge" coupled with the new Petraeus strategy, they delivered a devastating blow to our enemies in Iraq and elsewhere. At a moment of fierce political opposition and great military risk, Bush and McCain committed our nation to victory. We showed the terrorists that despite the calls for surrender coming from the left, some Americans had not lost their nerve.


To discredit the success of the surge, Barack Obama cites the Anbar Awakening as the real turning point in the war. But again he fails to understand a fundamental truth of warfare. The surge and the Awakening were symbiotic. The surge allowed us to consolidate the gains resulting from the Awakening, and vice versa. This is the kind of "luck" that often follows in warfare when commanders make bold, well-reasoned decisions.


To prove his mettle after calling for retreat, Obama now argues for a troop surge of his own, this time in Afghanistan. Apparently, it was dumb to invade Iraq but it's smart to expand the war in Afghanistan. What is his strategy? What is his definition of victory? What if our allies balk? He should answer these questions before Election Day.


Senator Obama presents himself as a new kind of diplomat, saying he would open presidential talks with enemies like Iran. Ironically, if Iran's leaders agree to speak with a future American president, it will only be because President Bush has placed them under tremendous pressure. Obama fails to understand that before the invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan, we could not engage Iran from a position of strength. There was no way the U.S. could transport a land army to Iran. The only threat we could muster was air strikes which, when used alone, are often counterproductive. The mullahs knew they were nearly untouchable. As a result of decisions now mocked by Obama, however, the next American President will have real bargaining power. Added to the NATO force on Iran's eastern border, America may soon have on Iran's western border an ally and a long-term military presence.


A dumb war? Rest assured, the leaders of Iran and other Muslim nations see the strategic wisdom of the Iraq war. McCain should tell the story as it ought to the be told.
