Allen West Puts Little Debbie In Her Place

Gateway Pundit has the story: It’s On!… Rep. Allen West Confronts Lying “Vile & Despicable” Leftist Wasserman Schultz.
That blog has some of the best comments to read about the verbal battle going on between Representative Allen West, a TEA Party Patriot member of Congress, and that vile little Debbie Wasserman-Schultz - a.k.a. one of the whiny Dem female attack dogs in the House.

Whenever Wasserman-Schultz made an appearance on the Fox News Channel, I would cringe. I knew that a lie against the GOP and/or an attack against a Republican was forthcoming. The woman has her mind so set in the mentally disordered liberal/progressive political sphere, it's a wonder if she ever utters any semblance of truth.

Recall how she stood up for Weiner during Weinergate? How could anyone take her seriously after that flub? Oh...but there is much more. Just do a search through the comments at Gateway Pundit to learn about the unfortunate history between her and Allen West when he was running for Congress in Florida.

Wasserman Schultz, in whose neighboring South Florida district West lives, provoked his tirade with remarks after he left the House floor today, in which she responded — without naming him — to the Tea Party freshman’s support for “Cut, Cap, and Balance” legislation to raise the debt ceiling.

“The gentleman from Florida. who represents thousands of Medicare beneficiaries, as do I, is supportive of this plan that would increase costs for Medicare beneficiaries, unbelievable from a Member from South Florida,” Wasserman Schultz said, saying the legislation “slashes Medicaid and critical investments essential to winning the future in favor of protecting tax breaks for Big Oil, millionaires, and companies who ship American jobs overseas.”

Yep, a classic example of ‘staying above the fray’.

With A Firm Reliance On the Protection of Divine Providence

The title of this particular post here at Talk Wisdom today is taken from the final sentence of our Declaration of Independence. You can read the entire Declaration at U.S. History.org - Declaration of Independence

During the debate in New Hampshire between the candidates for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination, Michele Bachmann quoted a portion of the Declaration:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness...

Congresswoman Bachmann quoted that section during an answer regarding her pro-life position. What is amazing to realize is that back in 1973, the Supreme Court chose a woman's political rights over and above the unalienable rights of a baby in the womb.

Unalienable rights:

Unalienable rights are natural rights that can not be taken away from you. Such as life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness as stated in The Declaration of Independence of the United States. Rights that are given to you by your Creator. They are considered natural rights and not legal rights.

The good news regarding the abortion "rights" debate is the fact that more and more people are changing their minds from the pro-abortion position to the pro-life position. The question we all must ask ourselves is what would Jesus think about this? I think that there is no question that Jesus is pro-life. After all, he died on the cross to save mankind from their sins in order to be reconciled unto him and to give us life. With confession and repentance from sin, and asking Christ to enter our hearts as Savior and Lord of our lives and to indwell us in the form of the Holy Spirit, we have the assurance of living with him, for him and beside him in the kingdom of heaven for all eternity. He told us that he would never leave nor forsake us! That is the blessed hope that we have when we belong to Christ!

As I read the words of our Declaration today, I could not help but notice how many of the reasons why our Founders and We The People of the Colonies wanted to break away from the tyranny being imposed upon them by the British king. In fact, I noticed several of the reasons being similar to the oppression being inflicted upon us by the gangster government of Obama over the past 2 1/2 years. Can you spot them too?

The Declaration informs us how and why the U.S. Constitution was written the way it was - often called by the supposed constitutional "scholar" - Barack Hussein Obama - as so-called "negative rights" of what the government CAN'T do to its citizens!

That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.

Thank God that We The People are waking up more and more citizens of these United States of America into seeing just how tragically damaging this puppet pResident in the White House, the puppeteers dangling him towards their Islamo-Communist-social "justice" tyranny in this depression, and those who would cover up all of the corruption, abuses, usurpation, illegal activities, and tyranny that is being imposed upon our States and people!

But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.

Our Founders were geniuses!! The form of government that they gave to us isn't perfect - but ORIGINALLY, the closest thing to a perfect form of government that we might ever experience here on this earth.   Unfortunately, because so many have forgotten God and have drifted away from His Word, we are so far away from what was originally intended for our nation - a Constitutional Republic - that what our nation has become today is almost totally unrecognizable to what it should be!

I was astounded to hear a statistic that only 5% of the world lives in freedom. Did you know that? We can see the terrible effects that Islamic terrorism and tyranny is causing in all of the misnamed "Arab Spring" conflicts going on in the Middle East. The dictators do not want to give up their power over these people. But the people who have been terrorized by their evil leaders and the Arab terrorists living among them now want freedom more than anything else! And many are willing to give their lives for the cause!

I recently watched the movie "The Patriot" again. [Note: Plot described at link. See the movie first if you haven't already seen it.]

Here is just a portion of the plot:

At the beginning of the American Revolution, Benjamin Martin (Mel Gibson) is a South Carolina veteran of the French and Indian War and a widower raising his seven children. The year is 1776, and Martin is called to Charleston to vote in the South Carolina Assembly whether a levy should be passed in support of the Continental Army. Fearing the consequences of a war with Great Britain, Martin refuses to vote in support of the levy, which is nonetheless unanimous. Ashamed of his father's perceived cowardice, Martin's eldest son, Gabriel (Heath Ledger), enlists in the Continental Army against his father's wishes.

[Note: Additional spoilers ahead.]

At "The Patriot" link, you will read about the horrible sufferings that one particular family (and others) endured during the American Revolution. There is one scene in the movie where the main character (Benjamin played by Mel Gibson) loses his son Gabriel.   In his enormous grief, Benjamin decides not to fight any longer. But then, in one of the best scenes of the movie, we first see a huge American flag rising from a valley area and as the scene continues, we then see Benjamin riding on his horse holding that flag - riding to re-join the Continental Army to fight the British!

The Declaration continues:

To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid world.

He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.

That phrase, IMHO, describes Obama and his terrible administration most accurately!!

I have a little research assignment for readers - if you care to participate. Please go through the list of grievances against the king of Britain and in the comment section, relate one or more of the grievances listed there to one or more of the many law-breaking incidences that Obama has done over the past 2 1/2 years.

In conclusion, the Declaration of Independence, in some of the finest words ever written, tells us exactly what we need to do now in order to get out of the mess that America is in [Hat tip to Glenn Beck because he has said this many times]:

Who Is God?
Isn't that a question that all of us end up asking? Who is God? For me, being raised in the Catholic church I later realized just how little I knew about God. As a child, I can still recall looking up at the huge crucifix of Jesus on the wall of the church and asking, why did he have to die like that? Did he really need to die for me? For you? For us all?

As I grew older, I gradually came to learn what was missing. It was a lack of understanding what the Bible says about God, Creation, our sinful nature, Who was actually worthy to forgive the sins of the world, and why Christ's sacrifice on the cross was necessary for the salvation of mankind.

In turn, my part was to believe in Christ and accept what Jesus offered, confess my sins, repent of my sins, and ask Jesus to enter into my heart to be Lord and Savior of my life. Jesus promised that he would send the Holy Spirit to live inside of me -to help guide me in my walk with Christ and to help me understand what the Bible had to say.

Jesus asks each of us, "Who do you say that I am?" How we answer that question determines where each of us will spend eternity.

It is my hope and prayer that those who read here will take the time to follow this series. Who knows? Perhaps the questions that you have had your entire life about Who Is God? will be answered!

Commentary from Christine:

Despite the fact that these devotionals are written in the form of Olde English, they are classic pieces of biblical literature. What makes them so great is that each devotional is chiefly written through the act of quoting directly from the Scriptures.

For example. Let's look at the wording in John 15:15 (using the NIV version throughout this post) -

"I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you."

Knowing that Jesus is Lord and Master should make us realize that we ought to be called his servants. However, He chooses to call us his friends. Being a friend is a much more intimate relationship than being a servant. In today's world, we could compare the term "servant" as being a subordinate co-worker. Sometimes, even a relationship with a co-worker can grow into a friendship.

What is important in this passage is the reason WHY Jesus can call his followers friends. He said, "for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you." Elsewhere in the Bible, Jesus tells us that "I (He) and the Father are One" and "he who has seen me (Jesus) has seen the Father."

Statements like this do not give us any leeway in determining who has the ability to save us from eternal death. Only Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. Therefore, those who believe in other religions that exclude Christ as the Son of God are lost.

Jesus never minces his words. The entire chapter of John 15 is blunt and direct about who is saved and who is not. The two main themes within the chapter proclaim what Jesus teaches about the Vine and the Branches, as well as Jesus' warning about the world's hatred.


Here is the entire chapter:


Jhn 15:1 "I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener.


Jhn 15:2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes [fn] so that it will be even more fruitful.


Jhn 15:3 You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.


Jhn 15:4 Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.


Jhn 15:5 "I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.


Jhn 15:6 If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned.


Jhn 15:7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you.


Jhn 15:8 This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.

Commentary from Christine:

Keep in mind that Jesus was speaking to Jewish believers in Him before he went to the cross. Jesus lived as a Jewish God-man during the Incarnation. When he said the following words to his disciples, the term "Christian" wasn't in existence yet:

Jhn 15:18 "If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first.


Jhn 15:19 If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.


Today, after the fact of the sacrificial death on the cross of Christ and his subsequent resurrection to life, we can also apply those words to Christian believers.

With all the turmoil happening in Egypt today and the virulent Muslim hatred for Israel and the Jews (especially the Zionists), plus the hatred againt Christ and Christians, we can see what Jesus was referring to when he said, "if the world hates you."

The chosen people of God (my people, Israel) and of God's Son, Jesus Christ, were prophesied in the Bible as being hated. Jesus himself warned us and we have the words written down in Scripture to remind us of that hatred. This is all the more reason to take Jesus' admonition in the following verses seriously:

Jhn 15:4 Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.


Jhn 15:5 "I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.


Jhn 15:6 If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned.


Apart from Christ, we can do nothing. We must "remain in Him."


Jhn 15:7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you.


What does this mean? It means that we believe that he is God's Son (1 John 4:15). It means that we receive him as Savior and Lord (John 1:12). It means that we do what God says (1 John 3:24). It means that we continue to believe in the gospel (1 John 2:24. It means that we are to relate in love to the community of believers, Christ's body (John 15:12).

We are to be like a branch attached to the vine. Apart from Christ our efforts are unfruitful.

Keep in mind that the farming analogy in this passage shows how God is glorified when people come into a right relationship with him and begin to "bear much fruit" in their lives.

It is important to know that "bearing fruit" is not limited to soul winning, although that is a very important part due to the commandment of The Great Commission. Bearing fruit also includes answered prayer, joy, and love (as mentioned in John 15:7,11, 12). Galatians 5:22-24 and 2 Peter 1:5-8 describe additional fruit: qualities of Christian character. As you can see, we have our work cut out for us!


At the end of John 15, Jesus offers us much hope. He speaks about the Holy Spirit being given to us to help us endure the unreasonable hatred and evil in the world as well as the hostility many groups and individuals have towards Christ. The Holy Spirit is given two names, Counselor and Spirit of truth. The term 'counselor' conveys the helping, encouraging and strengthening work of the Spirit. 'Spirit of truth' points to the teaching, illuminating and reminding work of the Spirit. As we can see, the Holy Spirit ministers to both our minds and to our hearts.

John 16 is a wonderful passage where Jesus teaches about the Holy Spirit. I encourage you to read and study it.

Once I became a born again Christian, I recognized the fact that the world's value are often the opposite of God's values. This can make a believer feel like a misfit. However, even though life can be very difficult now, one day we will rejoice. As believers in the Messiah, Jesus Christ, Lord and Savior of the universe, we can look with confidence ahead as we keep our eye on the future because we can rely on God's promises! Remembering that the ultimate victory has already been won enables us to keep and claim the peace of Christ. Not the peace that the world gives, but the peace of God that surpasses all human understanding. Even in the most troublesome times we can take heart! For Christ has overcome the world for all eternity.

Glenn demonstrates, and with video proof of Frances Fox Piven, shows just how far the left will lie and utilize the awful Cloward and Piven strategy - which will continue to be used in order to cause chaos and negative change in America. Why do they fear Sarah so greatly and continue to bombard her and her family with angry rants and death threats? Because they know that she represent those who cling to the Lord Jesus Christ and they hate all that she represents for the American people! Sarah isn't using God - He is using her, instead.

That is truly what the rabid leftist thugs and venom-spewing commentators can NEVER TAKE AWAY FROM SARAH AND HER FAMILY!

God bless you Sarah! You stand up against the powers of darkness because the Rock of Ages indwells your heart and soul. You are the Esther of our age! Praise God that you are here for us fellow Americans for such a time as this!

The 112th Congress Makes It An Historic Day

The new 112th Congress with the huge Republican majority is certainly a breath of fresh air! The stench of corruption led by the biggest corruptocrat of the Democrat Party, namely Nancy Pelosi, has been stripped of her powerful position. How scary it was to realize that she was second in line behind Biden to the presidency!

With John Boehner at the helm, and the many freshman members (many of which are TEA Party supported), perhaps the House will be FINALLY cleansed from the wasteful government spending and the damaging 5.2 trillion that was added to our nation's debt under Pelosi's rule.

I attempted to watch the entire historic reading of the U.S. Constitution on the floor of the House, but was called away for some of it. I started watching it on the Fox News Channel, but when I noticed that they were not revealing who was a Democrat or Republican when each representative was reading their particular segment, I switched over to C-SPAN.

I wondered whether or not any protesters would interrupt the proceedings - especially when the reading of Article II Section 1, clause 5 (only Natural Born Citizens qualify for POTUS) was read. Like clockwork, a single protester did shout from the gallery. You can read about it over at Gateway Pundit:

Bummer. After all of the resistance by democrats then this happened… A protester interrupted the reading of the Constitution on the House floor today screaming about Obama’s eligibility to be president.

There is some discussion about whether or not the protestor was a plant by the Democrats, but the "Birther" is revealed at Death By 1000 Papercuts.

Anyway, it wasn't until I saw The Glenn Beck Show later today that I found out that some portions of the Constitution (deemed "offensive" by some members) were NOT read out loud during the session. Glenn pointed out (as he has done in the past on his show) that the 3/5ths clause was actually a way for the Founders to start the process of freeing the slaves!

Another portion that was left out was the Eighteenth Amendment (known as the prohibition against alcohol), but the Twenty-First Amendment (which included the repeal of the 18th) was read on the floor.

Weird...huh?

Well, at least MOST of the U.S. Constitution was read during this historic start of the 112th Congress!

While I watched the reading of the Constitution, I noticed that C-SPAN included some details about each Congressperson under their name and party affiliation. It was interesting to see so many freshman Congressmen/women get into office through winning some very close races! I don't have names to share, but some wins were by margins of 1 - 3 points, while other victories were won by just 500 votes!

I think that God, in His mercy on America, answered our prayers and gave us this huge victory to help us bring America out of the clutches of the Socialist, progressive movement being forced upon our nation by Obama and his evil cohorts, back towards what our Founders had created - a Constitutional Republic!

We must remember that God has created unique people to accomplish a variety of purposes throughout the world. Of course He would also follow through in the same way here in America. We may not always agree, but each person's influence has a unique role to play. Sometimes it is difficult to remember that.

As an example, some commentator once quipped that if Obama hadn't become president, then the damaging agenda and goals of the progressive socialist movement would not have been so highly exposed as it has over the past two years. Americans would still be asleep and not awakened like they were through the efforts of the TEA Party movement and shows like Glenn Beck's radio and T.V. show on Fox News Channel.

I see it now as God's goal to put ourselves (America) in situations that may even scare the crap out of us in order to wake us up out of our stupor of complacency regarding our liberty, freedoms, and the ability to pursue happiness in our lives. We were, individually and as a nation, put in a place where it genuinely required God to come through for us. And He has!! But it's not over - not by a long shot!

There is a saying, "there are times like these that try men's souls." But is it possible that those particular times have been the most meaningful and satisfying in our lives? Could we admit that they were actually the times when we truly experienced life and God? After all, Jesus DID warn us that "in this life you will have tribulation (trouble). But take heart! For I have overcome the world."

Isn't it times like these where we pray more? Depend on God more? Grow closer to God? Pursue Christ more?

Living for Christ takes deliberate pursuit and attentiveness. I know these facts intimately because I have been on the other side (before becoming a Christian) and can now see how much I ignored God during those years!

I know that I wasn't very conscious of heaven in the past. But Dr. David Jeremiah's book, Revealing the Mysteries of Heaven study guide helped change that!

I love the devotional that talks about Greater and Lesser Lights. Dr. Jeremiah concludes at the end of that devotional:


Only by taking His light with you can you enlighten the world.


The gift we Christians are given in the Holy Spirit describes what we are to be doing to advance the kingdom of God during our brief life on this earth. In the following passage, it is Jesus Himself speaking:


I tell you the truth: It is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. When he comes, he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment...When he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. - John 16:7-8, 13


Without the Holy Spirit of truth in our lives, we cannot be guided "into all truth." Some may have a portion of the truth, but just like the mistake that some people make about the meaning of the 3/5ths clause in the Constitution, they can also make mistakes about God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and God's Word, the Bible which exists to lead us "into all truth."

We never stop learning from God's Word! And with the guidance of the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 5:18 tells us, "Be filled with the Spirit.") in our lives, we know that being "filled with the Spirit" isn't a one-time endeavor, but is something we are to do always and repeatedly.

I have found that when I am caught up in the scary chaos of what is going on in the world, [special thanks to my blogging friend Stevex09 for that link!] I am not focusing very clearly on "what the Spirit says to the churches." [See Revelation 2:7 and 2:17]

When you and I appear at the Judgment Seat of Christ, I pray that we will all be able to proclaim what Paul did in 2 Timothy:

2Ti 4:7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished [my] course, I have kept the faith:


2Ti 4:8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

Creative Thinking and the Invisible and Eternal God

It's very late for a new post, but since I fell asleep on the couch while watching T.V. earlier this evening and then awoke a few hours later, I decided to read some email before closing my browser for the night.

One of my favorite Christian bloggers has a new essay up. I found it in my email box tonight and I encourage readers here to go check it out! Charlie at Another Think has written and excellent and thought-provoking essay entitled "An Uncertain Reality"

Brief excerpts:



The great scientific project at the dawn of the twentieth century was to expose the hidden mysteries of the atom.

[W]hat made this investigation remarkable, and maddening, was the inaccessibility of the systems they were trying to understand. Using only the crudest experimental devices combined with ingenious thought experiments and audacious hunches, these young scientists tested theories and conducted their research in the blind. To make matters worse, Werner Heisenberg theorized that the nature of atomic particles was such that they could never be measured or probed by any traditional methods, because the very act of observing them would change them in unpredictable ways.

His insight was roundly dismissed at first, but grudgingly came to be accepted and formalized as the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle.

Quoting Bernice Eiduson again: "Creative thinking demands seeing things not seen previously... and taking risks by departing from reality."

Faced with an unknown and uncertain reality at the sub-atomic level, these scientists dared to depart from accepted conventions and imagined a world that broke the known rules, something the scientific establishment of the day did not quickly accept.

As I've been thinking about this remarkable scientific era, I have noticed similarities between the challenges and creative demands required to uncover the secrets of the atom, and the creative leaps and risks inherent in belief in the invisible and eternal God.

What an excellent and fascinating essay! As usual, you make the connections that a non-believing scientist might want to ignore or even shun (because of purposeful disbelief in God), and turn it into a better explanation of reality because of your skill as a scientist utilizing your faith in the God of the universe, Jesus Christ!

What you have written triggered some thoughts I recently contemplated.

My 86 year old mom has often stated how wonderful the "discoverers" of prescription drugs are in sustaining and prolonging the lives of people who might have suffered more, and/or died at younger ages without the use of such drugs.

We know that many drugs can be used for good (and helpful) purposes - as well as for evil (and addictive) purposes.

I was thinking the other day that since we are always only "catching up to God" in the scientific realm of this life on earth, how awesome it might be to one day discover (in eternity) that we probably had the "tools" here on earth all along to cure any and every physical, mental, and emotional ailment? Yet, because of our fallen, sinful nature such discoveries had been made by scientists in a gradual and incomplete way? Hope those last two sentences made some sense!

One example. A relative of mine succumbed to Alzheimer's disease and her mind deteriorated at such a rapid pace back in the 80's because no drugs were yet created to halt the progression of that devastating disease. Today, there are drugs that considerably slow down the progression of the disease and patients often get to live close to normal lives for many, many more years than previously ever imagined. That's not a small or insignificant miracle!

Your entire essay displays the "wonders of the Lord" and I love your final paragraph:

So too with faith. God invites us not to abandon reason, but to give up our iron grip on what we think we know, what we think must be true. The Christian faith invites us to open our minds to the possibility of a different reality than we have ever imagined.

Happy Thanksgiving - In The Faith

Despite all of the turmoil going on around the world and here in the U.S.A. we STILL have a lot to be thankful for! His promises written in the Bible have been kept. Prophecy fulfilled is proof of who He is and we know that all promises given to us by the Lord will be kept - both in this current world of existence as well as into eternity.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. His mercies are new every morning.

My loved ones all realize even more of His mercy and grace today. We had a health scare in our family, and the results of an MRI revealed that it wasn't the dreaded disease of cancer. The lesser problem is nothing compared to what a diagnosis for cancer would have been!

I recall praying for healing of my loved one through Jesus Christ two days ago. I recall witnessing the painful ordeal my loved one has been going through and the uncomfortable time endured through the MRI. I recall the agonizing wait the next day to hear what was wrong.

Through it all, friends and family were praying fervently. One very special lady kept telling me to "keep the faith."

People, no matter how strong your own individual faith is the truth is that we need each other, as fellow Christians, to help us in our times of fear, doubt, pain, suffering and worry. That is why we have the church. I don't mean a building - I mean the people in the faith.

The encouragement was greatly appreciated (you know who you are!!) and helped to calm my spirit while awaiting the test results.

Today was an extra special Thanksgiving. At our table, we thanked the Lord Jesus Christ for our lives, our health, and the love we have for God, each other, and especially the love that God has shown to us through His Son, Jesus Christ.

A Brief Review of "Crazy Love"

I wrote a review about the book "Crazy Love: Overwhelmed By A Relentless God" over at the Amazon.com website. Here is my review:

Perhaps it is not appropriate to write a review when one has only read the first few chapters of a book. However, while reading some of the negative reviews here I felt compelled and led to write this.

How can any Christian say that Chan's book isn't about God's love when it is stated so clearly by the end of chapter two? The statement that Chan shares - that "He (God) is everything" combined with the knowledge of the Bible verse of John 3:16 is enough to make one realize the "crazy" love that God has for us! Jesus Christ is God's gift of love - and there is no greater love in the universe!

Challenging Christians to FOLLOW Jesus is a great endeavor that each and every pastor should encourage. I suspect that those who object to such challenges may, in fact, be feeling some guilt within their own soul and spirit (I certainly have!) for lacking what Chan is describing as ways to more openly follow Jesus? It's a sobering thing - and a jolt to the heart to realize that we may never completely "arrive" this side of heaven, in our efforts to be complete followers of Jesus. However, we can continue to try and improve our walk with Christ each and every day of our lives. This is known as sanctification - and it is an ongoing experience that lasts throughout our entire lives!

I thought that Chan's analogy of "the movie of life" being about God and not about us was brilliant! He even goes so far as to state that this "movie" isn't about the great prophets and individuals we all know from the text of the Bible. For me, this is consistent with what Jesus articulated when Martha was complaining that she was doing all the work while Mary just sat at the feet of Jesus listening to his teaching. In Luke 10:42 Jesus said, "...Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her." No doubt both women loved Jesus and they were both serving him. It's just that Martha thought that Mary's way was inferior to her own. It brings to mind that sometimes we can be so busy doing things for Jesus that we aren't spending any time with him! The lesson: don't let your service to him become self-serving!

Chan writes, "the point of your life is to point to Him." And this is something that each of us can do in small and big ways throughout our lifetime, in whatever we are doing. We are to give the glory to God because after all, it is He who is worthy!

An Experience to Share


My Story
I’m a man of strong faith but a very practical man as well. I’ve always wondered at the fanciful stories I’ve heard of people receiving messages from God and I often wondered if they were authentic or simply embellished feelings of someone seeking a message. That was until last Saturday. As I was driving down the road on Saturday afternoon I suddenly felt a presence around me. I really couldn’t explain it nor have I felt it before but I sensed that Jesus had something to say to me. I got a series of chills and tears began to form. I don’t remember thinking anything as much as I was just sort of listening. Suddenly I noticed this car in front of me that had bumper stickers that conveyed frustration with Obama and his policies and I heard a voice simply say to me that “the work Chris is doing is important.” Nothing more, just that. I know in my heart that it was not my inner voice talking to me but a message from Him. I remember feeling that I was being asked to support my wife in her efforts and to trust in Him. I simply prayed, “I will.” It all happened very quickly but I remember it very distinctly. My wife has asked me to share this story so in support of her I pass it along.
