Claiming Faith, Finding Freedom

Today's television broadcast of Turning Point was truly excellent! I learned quite a lot when it comes to the comparison of legalism vs. liberty.

What was also interesting was the portion of the sermon where Dr. Jeremiah discusses the fact that God made a promise of a child to Abraham and Sarah in their old age. Abraham was 100 years old, and Sarah was 90 years old.

Of course, we know the story in Genesis where Sarah became anxious (at the ripe old age of @ 77 years old) and decided to have her Egyptian maidservant Hagar become impregnated with a child by Abram to "speed along" the promise that God made to them regarding having a child.

Hagar gave birth to a baby boy named "Ishmael." You will notice that in Genesis chapter 16 Sarah's original name was Sarai and Abraham's was Abram. FYI, both Sarah and Abraham's names were changed by God in Genesis 17 when God made the covenant with Abraham through the coming birth of Isaac.

We find out in the Scriptures that when Hagar became preganant, Sarai was jealous. She wanted Hagar out of the household. Sarai was "hard on Hagar" and she fled. But God saw Hagar's affliction and intervened:

Gen 16:6 But Abram said unto Sarai, Behold, thy maid [is] in thy hand; do to her as it pleaseth thee. And when Sarai dealt hardly with her, she fled from her face.


Gen 16:7 And the angel of the LORD found her by a fountain of water in the wilderness, by the fountain in the way to Shur.


Gen 16:8 And he said, Hagar, Sarai's maid, whence camest thou? and whither wilt thou go? And she said, I flee from the face of my mistress Sarai.


Gen 16:9 And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Return to thy mistress, and submit thyself under her hands.


Gen 16:10 And the angel of the LORD said unto her, I will multiply thy seed exceedingly, that it shall not be numbered for multitude.


Gen 16:11 And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Behold, thou [art] with child, and shalt bear a son, and shalt call his name Ishmael; because the LORD hath heard thy affliction.


Gen 16:12 And he will be a wild man; his hand [will be] against every man, and every man's hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.

Most Bible scholars agree that the "angel of the LORD" in the Old Testament is the pre-incarnate Jesus Christ. We can see how even though the people in this passage went against God's laws and did not trust by faith that they (Sarai and Abraham) would bear a child from their own bodies, that the promise was ultimately fulfilled. The fact that both Sarai had been barren her entire life up until the point where she conceived Isaac, and was way past child-bearing age, indicates that Isaac's birth was through a miracle of God. It was not the same thing as Mary, the mother of Jesus' miracle (the Virgin birth).  Our long awaited Messiah, Jesus Christ would enter the world through the incarnation.

During the sermon, Dr. Jeremiah pointed out that Ishmael was the ancestor of the Arab people. The fact that they were against their Jewish brothers thousands of years ago, and are still, to this day, fighting against the Jews in Israel is just another important proof that the Bible is true and the Word of God.

The believers, who were once solid in their faith and had received sound teaching from Paul, conformed to their previous lifestyle under the law. They had forgotten the power of grace! In the Book of Galatians, Paul confronts the believers’ weakened faith, reminding them that salvation comes through the Spirit. The law merely illuminates sin, but it is through God’s grace that we have the assurance of salvation. When we claim our faith in this truth, we will find the freedom Christ offers us. From July 17 through September 11, Dr. Jeremiah is teaching the Book of Galatians on Turning Point Television. He examines the difference between law and liberty and why we are to embrace the freedom grace allows us. He also teaches how we as Christians are to properly use our liberty so that our actions do not cause others to stumble, but edify fellow believers. God’s grace is not an excuse to sin, but should motivate us to a greater love for our Savior and others.

The portion where Dr. Jeremiah discusses the difference between choosing to live under the law (Mount Sinai - where Moses received the Ten Commandments) or under grace (Mount Zion - where Jesus Christ brings us through the Gospel) is truly riveting!! It explains in a better way than I have ever heard before the difference between legalism (religion) and liberty (finding faith, claiming freedom)! A LOT OF CHRISTIANS do not understand the difference. It can be a difficult concept to grasp, but Dr. Jeremiah explains it all in such a way that you will never confuse the two ever again!

Happy Independence Day Weekend!

Hope everyone enjoys a safe and happy Independence Day weekend! Mine didn't start out very well. My blog was hacked into on Friday. I think that I made a grave editing error and my dashboard was exposed for a few minutes. When I realized the mistake, I immediately erased what was causing the problem. Shortly after that, I could no longer log into my dashboard. I tried to get into my blog dashboard several times over the next few hours, but to no avail. I finally closed my browser and shut off the computer for the night, hoping that perhaps the problem would get fixed overnight by blogger.

This is basically what happened. After utilizing the "preview" button to look at my new post (Exposing A Loony Leftist Lie,) it just suddenly disappeared from the edit/compose box! I then received a message that I had never seen before. It said something like, "Post not saved. Could possibly have been deleted by another person editing the post." Those were not the exact words, but that was basically what the message was telling me. I got nervous. I thought that perhaps someone now had complete access to my dashboard.

Several choices entered into my mind. I thought about deleting this blog and starting over. I also thought about creating a new blog within a provider other than Blogger. I have noticed several of the major blogs that I have in my sidebar have done that. Perhaps they wanted to get away from Google/Blogger too.

My next thought was that I would loose over five years of blog posts if I just went ahead and deleted this blog! That would be a lot of work gone down the drain, so the option of deleting this blog was no longer on the table. Fortunately, the next morning, I was able to log onto my blog dashboard and everything seemed O.K.

Anyway, I would like to thank the readers who frequent here and the many guests who come by this blog via search engines. I hope that what you searched for, and read here at Talk Wisdom helped you.

As I walked my dogs this morning, I noticed that many of my neighbors have flags displayed outside their homes. Some have flag poles and display the flag every day. My husband recently put up a large flag near a window outside our home. We have always had a small one on a stick positioned upon our "Welcome" sign on our front door. 

It makes me happy to see the symbol of our nation and the freedom that it represents displayed by so many neighbors! I think that in these difficult times, with the kind of gangster government that our nation is suffering from, displaying the proud symbol of our patriotism towards our beloved country is even more important than ever. There are people who live in this nation who obviously show their hatred for our flag and what it stands for. They adhere to philosophies and a type of government that is foreign to most Americans. But the freedoms and liberty that the flag represents allows such people to trample on the very symbol that we love; but they, unfortunately, hate. Ironic, isn't it? I also think that it is very very sad.

I recently saw a movie called, "The Majestic." Jim Carrey starred in the movie along with Martin Landau and Amanda Detmer. I really liked the movie all the way up until the end. I guess you could say that I felt the same way one commenter at the link did when he wrote:

"I first hated this film when I saw it. I think my opinion's softened on it over time, but I will always hate it for the fact that it trivializes the HUAC trials and the seriousness of the anti-commie hysteria of the 1950s." - bxc85

I sincerely think that the ending of the movie was, in a not-so-subtle way, an attempt to re-write history. It did not project, as "bxc85" stated above, the seriousness of the anti-communist sentiment of the 1950's.

Just think about how people felt about radical Islam just after that tragic and horrific day on 9/11/01. Would people who lived through that change their minds about the threat of jihadist terrorism over the course of history? Would a little town of patriotic military families end up cheering a victorious sounding speech in a congressional hearing if the person speaking the words was a pro-radical Islam supporter? I don't think so!!

It is so typical of liberal leftists to gloss over any person or group who is, has become, or always has been radical and dangerous to our way of life. What more can I say about this?

I also think that it is a terrible thing to realize that this movie was made in the same year that the terrorism attack on our nation occurred. Perhaps it was made and released before that tragic day, but I also think that it was inappropriate considering how dangerous communism and nazism was in the 1950's. I can't help but wonder what my father would have thought of the movie. He fought in WWII, and could not bring himself to discuss the horrors of that war. To trivialize communist sentiment during a Congressional hearing should be anathema to any truly thinking person.

I was brought up to believe that communism was very bad. Why? Because MILLIONS OF PEOPLE WERE KILLED! President Ronald Reagan cemented that belief with how often he discussed the need to defeat it. Since he worked in both Hollywood and in both state (California) and federal government, he was very familiar and aware of the communist threat back then. What would he have thought about the ending of that movie?

It was a strange experience to view a film that I liked at first, but then found very disturbing at the end.

Glenn demonstrates, and with video proof of Frances Fox Piven, shows just how far the left will lie and utilize the awful Cloward and Piven strategy - which will continue to be used in order to cause chaos and negative change in America. That is truly what the rabid leftist thugs and venom-spewing commentators can NEVER TAKE AWAY FROM SARAH AND HER FAMILY!

God bless you Sarah! You stand up against the powers of darkness because the Rock of Ages indwells your heart and soul. You are the Esther of our age! Praise God that you are here for us fellow Americans for such a time as this!

Life and Liberty Hangs in the Balance

Spotted this video presentation of a painting done by Jon McNaughton over at Nice Deb and it literally moved me to tears!



I weep for what we have lost here in America - the deep knowledge of the Bible and the heritage of our Christian faith.

I weep for what we are losing at such an accelerated pace - our freedoms and liberty - due to the tyrannical government we have.

I weep for those who have shoved God and His Son, Jesus Christ, out of their lives.

I weep for those who have never taken Jesus' offer of salvation seriously, and therefore ignore it and do not accept it.

I weep for our children who are now living in an America that I never thought I would ever see in my lifetime. I could go on and on. But most regular readers here could easily add to this list.

However, I also have tears of joy because I know who I am in Jesus Christ. I know that millions of saved Christians also know who they are in Christ and are evangelizing across the globe - including through the vehicle of the Internet.

Jesus told us that a sign of the coming Rapture would be both a falling away from the faith (heresy, apostasy, false religions, atheism etc. -all of which are happening today) as well as the Gospel being spread throughout the world. There has been no time in history - other than the computer age - where the Gospel could literally be spread throughout the entire world in seconds! How many people have read the Gospel message of Jesus Christ in just one day, accepted it and have also accepted the fact that the Word of God, the Bible, is ultimate Truth? We may never know the answer to that question on this side of heaven.

What a beautiful painting! Jesus is the center of the scene, and rightfully so.

A Question

A few moments ago, Glenn Beck told his listeners that he has received numerous death threats. Two years ago, when his tour bus was on the way to the next location (for his annual comedy tour), one of the security people reminded Glenn that there are crazy people out there - intent on killing him.

This was happening before the monumental success of his radio show, his Fox News Channel TV show (he was previously "hidden" on CNN's "Headline News" channel), the success of the launching of the 9.12 Project, the success of the TEA Party revolution, and the success of his book "Common Sense."

Now, we can only imagine the ratcheting up of death threats against him due to the enormous success he now enjoys.

This morning, Glenn spoke about why he does what he does. He claims not to do it for money. He claims not to do it for fame. He claims that he does it because he must share the TRUTH about what is happening here in America.

I believe him.

He has probably earned enough money already to quit and allow his family to live comfortably for the rest of his life. So why keep on keepin' on?

Because he must share the TRUTH about what is happening here in America.

Glenn humbly shared that he has had many sleepless nights, worrying about what is happening to our beloved Republic. He prayed a lot - and continues to pray about all that is transpiring now. Why?

Like him or not, he has helped awaken many people out of their stupor from the Obamamania matrix. Americans are now learning the truth about this bogus POTUS and they are willing to stand up at town hall meetings and oppose the ObamaSCARE HELLcare legislation. Those who have now read the bill realize how CRUCIAL it is to educate others about all the bad stuff in the bill - and they are willing to go out and speak their minds about it.

Glenn asked a pertinent question on his radio show a few moments ago.

The Soft Tyranny of the NOBama Regime

There are so many great blog posts out there today that it is hard for me to choose a headliner. However, the irony of seeing the blog Stop The ACLU cover a topic that claims "Even the ACLU is opposing this Gestapo-like effort" show how utterly over the top the stupid totalitarian Obama Regime has become!

I first heard about the "The Modern Militia Movement" questionnaire on Glen Beck's radio show.

Stop the ACLU blog goes into much more detail, sharing the fact that a Secret document leaked: The Obama administration is branding libertarians and abortion opponents as hidden terrorists.

Excerpt:

“Militia members most commonly associate with 3rd party political groups,” the report reads. “It is not uncommon for militia members to display Constitutional Party, Campaign for Liberty or Libertarian material.” Other potential signals of militia involvement, according to the report, are possession of the Gagsden “Don’t Tread on Me” flag or the widely available anti-income tax film “America: Freedom to Fascism.”

I wonder whether or not they will eventually include Mark Levin's new book, Liberty and Tyranny: A Conservative Manifesto on their list?

Isn't it awful to see this terribly inept Resident in the White House and his neo-Marxist buddies continue to destroy not only the financial sector of our nation; but in addition to that, the liberty, freedoms, and pursuit of happiness that is guaranteed in our Constitution and other Charters of Freedom?

Excerpt from American Thinker article:

The overall plan of the book is simple and logical. Chapter One, "On Liberty and Tyranny," lays out the basic conceptual scheme. Levin contrasts two opposing political philosophies currently in contention: The Conservative versus the Statist. I wanted to see what Mr. Levin meant by "statist."

I think that the following definition fits.

We can already see the development of "soft tyranny" in the NOBama administration. Mark hits it exactly right when he writes, "which becomes increasingly more oppressive, partially leading to hard tyranny."

That is what all of the TEA parties going on across America are all protesting about! And, what is interesting is the fact that it is not only conservatives who are concerned about our current "soft tyrannical government," there are independents, libertarians, and even some liberals who are concerned about the neo-Marxist hard turn to the left that NOBama is taking this nation.

During the 60 Minutes interview, Mr. Kroft reveals that in a typical survey, only 18% of people agree with NOBama's economic policies! That means that a whopping 72% of the public THINKS NOBAMA'S ECONOMIC PLANS STINK AND WE ARE HEADING IN A DREADFULLY WRONG DIRECTION!

What is it going to take to reach this man? He's not a king. He's not a dictator (at least he's NOT SUPPOSED TO BE!).

Fellow Americans - we MUST rise up and get our voices heard and the message out that WE DON'T WANT THIS FORMER KENYAN VILLAGE IDIOT AND CLUELESS, RECKLESS CONGRESS TO COMMIT GENERATIONAL THEFT AND CREATE TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS OF DEFICITS!!

If only common sense ruled the day Washington D.C. I guess that is too much to ask with the many morons occupying seats in the Senate and the House.

Thankfully, there are still some SANE PEOPLE in Congress. Rep. Gohmert had a great idea that, unfortunately, never saw the light of day. Why? Because PeLIARsi and ReiDUNCE dismissed all of the Republicans (and their ideas) and were shut out of the financial problem debates.

If I recall correctly, Rep. Gohmert proposed a "tax holiday" for all Americans for only three months. If such a tax holiday was given for up to six months, it STILL would have cost 1/2 (estimate) less than the Stimulus bill!!! It would have IMMEDIATELY placed more money into the pockets of EVERY WORKING TAXPAYER and BUSINESS OWNER. In turn, the business owners would have been able to hire more people. Each taxpayer would have more money to spend and that spending would have most likely helped every industry (including the failing car sales giants) in dire straits right now, by having more of OUR OWN MONEY (after all, it is EACH AND EVERY WORKER'S MONEY - NOT THE GOVERNMENT'S IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!) to spend and get the economy going again. This idea would have had IMMEDIATE RESULTS!

Economically speaking, nothing happens until someone sells something. In turn, that means that someone else is buying. IMO, government SHOULD NOT BE IN THE BUSINESS OF SELLING!!! Especially when they are using OPM - Other People's Money in the most wasteful ways imaginable! The Democratic majority's mindset is "tax and spend." They know NOTHING about the correct way to run a business!!!

But don't take my word for it. After all, I'm just a dumb blogger. I'm not an economist. However, I listen to those economists who have shared their views that NOBama's economic policies are quite the disaster.

Even other countries are worried about this new NOBama administration making disastrous economic moves.

China Calls For New World Currency to Replace Dollar

I suggest you read the entire blog post and subsequent links, but here is a brief excerpt:

In February communist China warned Democrats not to discard the stable state of bilateral relations by following a "whatever-not-Bush" economic policy. Russia's Putin warned Democrats about socialism.

But, Democrats went ahead with their historic spending bills anyway.
These moves by democrats now have China concerned that skyrocketing inflation is on the way.

In response, China called for a new reserve currency to replace the dollar.

The Financial Times reported:

[A]nalysts said the proposal was an indication of Beijing’s fears that actions being taken to save the domestic US economy would have a negative impact on China.

“This is a clear sign that China, as the largest holder of US dollar financial assets, is concerned about the potential inflationary risk of the US Federal Reserve printing money,” said Qu Hongbin, chief China economist for HSBC.

The Democrats are so dishonest.

First, they can't ever admit that the Bush tax cuts helped boost our economy for 7 of the 8 years he was in office.

Second, many bloggers have caught on to their schemes. The economic disaster was a manufactured crisis (count how many Dems caused it!!!) to get their "boy" into office. Recall how they blamed it on Bush? Perhaps they didn't think it through all the way and being the "economic geniuses" they are (NOT!!) are now stunned to see how hard it is to stop this out of control train wreck going down the track of disaster.

Back to Levin's book.

I plan to get a copy today. Can't wait to read it!

We can see - just by the piled on economic turmoil that the NOBama admin. is creating (on top of the manufactured crisis in the first place!) is an example of "statist" mentality. It is a kind of "soft tyranny" that Mr. Levin mentions in his book - which will one day lead to hard tyranny - neo-Marxist Obama's plan in the first place. That is probably why he can get stoned and appear on 60 Minutes - laughing his way through the interview while Mr. Kroft sits there in unbelief asking him, "are you punch-drunk?"

Yep...drunk with his own Kool-Aid mixture and ObamaBorg mind - trying to ruin our economy and nation even before the close of the Lamestream media's stupid "100 days" landmark. Nowadays, the success of our Treasury bond sales depends on the good will of China's Gao Xiqing, who controls over $700,000,000,000 of outstanding US treasury notes and who reportedly is a hard core Chinese Communist who regards America as China's enemy.


Why, then, is Obama pursuing this risky maneuver? We can imagine at least four possibilities, in order of increasing infamy:


* He is too naïve or ignorant to understand what he is risking.
* He knows but doesn't care, being interested only in what looks good for the moment.
* He wants to cause inflation, because inflation favors debtors and the biggest debtor in the United States is the United States. Moreover, inflation leads to devaluation of the dollar, which, as James Lewis recently pointed out, is one of the key objectives of puppet master George Soros.
* He wants to provoke a crisis of capitalism, as James Simpson has already suggested.

Whatever the reason, the effects could be devastating.
