SANTA MONICA, Calif. — Oscar-winning actress Reese Witherspoon suffered minor injuries when she was struck by a car while jogging Wednesday, Santa Monica police said.
"The actress was not seriously injured and is resting comfortably at home," her spokeswoman said in a statement.
Witherspoon was jogging across an unmarked crosswalk on Georgina Avenue at 20th Street about 11 a.m. when she was hit by a vehicle driven by an 84-year-old woman, Sgt. Richard Lewis said in a statement. The vehicle was traveling south on 20th street.
Lewis said Witherspoon, 35, suffered minor injuries and was transported by ambulance to a hospital for treatment.
The driver, who was not identified, was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, Lewis said.
Witherspoon, 35, became a box office sensation and A-list Hollywood star in her "Legally Blonde" comedy movies, and she won an Academy Award for best actress in drama "Walk the Line."
