The news comes on the heels of Ross adding D.C.-based rapper Wale to his team and like that announcement, the Miami MC announced the new signing through a short video clip provided courtesy of Maybach Films.
“Philly had a lot of sh*t going on…We need somebody to bring it back, so I said why not somebody like me,” said Mill in the footage.
He also confirmed the signing via his Twitter account. After re-tweeting a message from DJ Benz that read, “It’s official! @MeekMill is now part of Maybach Music,” he himself later added, “had to take my talents 2 south beach mamamamammaybach!! … I’ma boss I signed my first contact with a “ap” on my wrist.”
Ross talked about Mill’s potential during an interview with XXLlate last year and called the up-and-coming rapper “a young Rozay”. “Meek Mill, I see him like when it comes to his rhymin’ and his ability to put music together he’s a young Rozay,” said Ross. “He’s one record from really being that next nigga comin’ outta Philly on a major scale.”
Congrats to Meek Mill!
