While searching for a particular prayer to share on this National Day of Prayer, I ran across an article that shared President Bush's 2005 Commemoration at the White House. Those were the good ole' days!

THE PRESIDENT: Good morning, and welcome to the White House. Laura and I are honored to join you on this important occasion.

I want to thank Shirley Dobson, the chairman of the National Day of Prayer. Thank you for organizing this event and thank you for your wonderful comments. I'm glad to see you brought your husband, Jim, with you. (Laughter.) It's good to have Vonette Bright with us, welcome. I appreciate my fellow Texan, Max Lucado, for his wonderful prayer. Thank you very much; welcome. I'm glad you and Denalyn are with us. Rabbi, thank you for your reading of the psalm. It's good to have your family here; welcome. I appreciate Father Charles Pope, pastor of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, here in D.C. Kind of sounded more like a Baptist preacher to me. (Laughter and applause.)

Laura and I are proud Methodists and we're pleased to be here with Bishop Peter Weaver, who is the president of the Council of Methodist Bishops, who will deliver the closing prayer. Thank you.

It's such an honor to be here with the St. Olaf Choir led by Anton Armstrong. You've got such beautiful music, thank you for sharing with us. (Applause.) I'm sure they're having a prayerful moment right now -- (laughter) -- praying that I hurry up and finish because they have been standing for quite a while. (Laughter.)

The National Day of Prayer is an annual event established in 1952 by an Act of the United States Congress. Yet, this day is part of a broader tradition that reaches back to the beginnings of America. From the landing of the pilgrims at Plymouth Rock, to the launch of the American Revolution, the men and women who founded this nation in freedom relied on prayer to protect and preserve it.

Today, prayer continues to play an important part in the personal lives of many Americans. Every day, millions of us turn to the Almighty in reverence and humility. Every day, our churches and synagogues and mosques and temples are filled with men and women who pray to our Maker. And almost every day, I am given a special reminder of this great generosity of spirit when someone comes up and says, Mr. President, I'm praying for you.

Prayer has been an important part of American public life, as well. Many of our forefathers came to these shores seeking the freedom to worship. The first Continental Congress began by asking the Almighty for the wisdom that would enable them to settle things on the best and surest foundation. And when our Founders provided that sure foundation in the Declaration of Independence, they declared it a self-evident truth that our right to liberty comes from God.
And so we pray as a nation for three main reasons. We pray to give thanks for our freedom. Freedom is our birthright because the Creator wrote it into our common human nature. No government can ever take a gift from God away. And in our great country, among the freedoms we celebrate is the freedom to pray as you wish, or not at all. And when we offer thanks to our Creator for the gift of freedom, we acknowledge that it was meant for all men and women, and for all times.

Second, we pray for help in defending the gift of freedom from those who seek to destroy it. Washington prayed at Valley Forge. Franklin Roosevelt sent American troops off to liberate a continent with his D-Day prayer. Today, we pray for the troops who are defending our freedom against determined enemies around the globe. We seek God's blessing for the families they have left behind, and we commit to Heaven's care those brave men and women he has called home.

AUDIENCE: Amen.

THE PRESIDENT: Finally, we pray to acknowledge our dependence on the Almighty. Prayerful people understand the limits of human strength. We recognize that our plans are not always God's plans. Yet, we know that a God who created us for freedom is not indifferent to injustice or cruelty or evil. So we ask that our hearts may be aligned with His, and that we may be given the strength to do what is right and help those in need. We who ask for God's help for ourselves, have a particular obligation to care for the least of our brothers and sisters within our midst.

During the funeral for Abraham Lincoln, Bishop Matthew Simpson relayed a story about a minister who told our 16th President that he hoped the Lord was on his side. Lincoln wisely replied that he was more concerned that he was on the side of the Lord, because the Lord was always on the side of right.

Freedom is a divine gift that carries with it a tremendous human responsibility. The National Day of Prayer is a day that we ask that our nation, our leaders and our people use the freedom we have been given wisely. And so we pray as Americans have always prayed: with confidence in God's purpose, with hope for the future, and with the humility to ask God's help to do what is right.

Thank you for coming. May God bless. (Applause.)

One of my favorite prayers for this day has an unknown author. It is simply labeled, "The Prayer." Now, more than ever before, it is highly appropriate to pray this prayer IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST because the current Resident ObamaFRAUD Admin. in the White House rejects prayer in the name of Jesus.

THE PRAYER

Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask Your forgiveness and to seek Your direction and guidance. We know Your Word says, "Woe on those who call evil good," but that's exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values.

We confess that:

We have ridiculed the absolute truth of Your Word and called it pluralism.
We have worshiped other gods and called it muliticulturism.
We have endorsed perversion and called it an alternative lifestyle.
We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery.
We have neglected the needy and called it self-preservation.
We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare.
We have killed our unborn children and called it a choice.
We have shot abortionaist and called it justifiable.
We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self-esteem.
We have abused power and called it political savvy.
We have coveted our neighblr's possessions and called it ambition.
We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression.
We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment.Search us. O God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and set us free.
Guide and bless these men and women who have been sent to direct us to the center of Your will.
I ask it in the name of Your Son, the living Savior, Jesus Christ.

You Are Mine - Third Day

THE Best "Choose Life" Ad EVER!

The person that came up with this ad idea is a genius! Hard for ANYONE to argue against it! Best pro-life message I have ever seen. It is an illustration of one of my favorite sayings - Choose Life, Your Mother Did!

I have been asked by some Obama supporters whether or not I would be willing to pray for Obama. I do pray. I pray that he will come to the authentic realization that he is a sinner, desperately in need of the Savior, Jesus Christ. I pray that he will be GENUINELY born again in Christ through confession and repentance for his sin. I pray that he will one day kneel, at the foot of the Cross of Christ and acknowledge Christ's sacrificial death for his sins. I pray that he will ask the Lord to forgive him, and cleanse him of that sin. I pray that he will ask Jesus Christ into his heart as Lord and Savior of his life. I pray that through the power of the Holy Spirit, and in his renewed life and ongoing walk with Christ, that the sanctification of his heart will occur and that Obama will turn away from his evil ways and terrible policies.

I pray that he will realize the error of his pro-death-to-babies policies, and change his mind about them. I pray that he will choose life - his mother did.

My friend Neil over at Eternity Matters has placed this video in a post called A Great Day For Life! My comment there:

Even though I still think that Obama is not a natural born citizen, and therefore, ineligible to be POTUS (unless his real father is someone other than Obama Sr.), this video makes two reasons why I can see God's hand in the election.

The first reason is because so many of the blacks and hispanics in California who voted for Obama, also voted to pass Proposition 8.

The second reason is because this video is getting around and I pray that millions will see it and lean them towards the pro-life position for the unborn.

These are two issues that many, many Christians have been praying about for years.

Despite Obama's overt support for homosexual indoctrination and causes, he has, inadvertently and ironically, also had an impact for the Christian, pro-traditional family, pro-biblical marriage issue (via passage of Prop. 8 in CA) that marriage should always remain as the union of one man and one woman.

Despite Obama's overt and lethal pro-death-to-babies-in-the-womb worldview and policies, it has led to a video so powerful for the pro-life cause (starring him!!) that he is also, inadvertently and ironically, having a huge impact for pro-life causes!

Only God could accomplish such a feat! Praise Jesus!!

I am a retired (25) police officer and spent 26 years in the United States Air force as a MSGT in charge of Training for the 482 Security Police Squadron. Was in Vietnam and also served in the Gulf War. For the last year I have been watching this site on a daily basis not believing that Barack Hussein Obama has become our president. I coach a High School softball team and everyone of my players had to produce a birth certificate to be eligible to play through the state. I hate to say this, but we in a total crisis and something will happen if this man is allowed to continue to lead this once proud nation. I have never posted before but know many FBI, Secret Service Agents, CIA and many other Federal Agents who have told me they are not to discuss this issue about Obama or they will be terminated from employment. We all need to take a step back and pray that something will come out on all of these lawsuits. I spoke to the Supreme Court Justice in my state who advised that the US Supreme Court have been ordered to throw out any case that deal with the fraud President elect. May God Help us All (emphasis added)

My comment:

The words of that former police officer (if true) have totally disheartened any chance of Obama the usurper being exposed by SCOTUS or any other court in our nation. People who are threatened with “losing their jobs” will most likely not have the courage nor intestinal fortitude to do what is right. I am SO SAD for our country today.

I have never posted before but know many FBI, Secret Service Agents, CIA and many other Federal Agents who have told me they are not to discuss this issue about Obama or they will be terminated from employment. We all need to take a step back and pray that something will come out on all of these lawsuits.
I spoke to the Supreme Court Justice in my state who advised that the US Supreme Court have been ordered to throw out any case that deal with the fraud President elect. May God Help us All.

Yes indeed. From the sounds of that so-called “order” (sounds more like a tyrant’s threat) it is going to take a miracle of God to get Obama exposed.

What I would like to know is who created such an order as this???

I sincerely doubt that it came from the Bush Administration. When Bush signed that Executive Order that allowed Orly Taitz to add “friend of the court” documents to her lawsuit, it erased any suspicions that Bush was “in on it.” I could be wrong, though?

I am so sickened by all of this. From the actions of Justice Roberts (meeting secretly with Obama), I don’t think that we can expect him to have the gonads to do what is right. He doesn’t want to lose that cushy lifetime job appointment….now does he?

…And from that very act, one loses a certain degree of respect for the sanctity of all laws…

I have lost all respect for our elected and appointed officials. By refusing to do this:

“All people are asking for is conclusive proof that Obama is eligible (or not) to serve as President.”

They have, in one felled swoop, trampled our United States Constitution and We The People who expect our elected officials to maintain a government that is “of the people, by the people, and for the people.”

I am disgusted beyond belief…

My prayer for our nation:

Lord God, heavenly Father - Maker of heaven and earth. I praise your Name and thank you for all that you have blessed our nation and family with all these years. The forgiveness, grace and mercy that You have bestowed upon us through Jesus Christ is all culminated in our joyful hope and promise of eternal life with You.

Father God, we who belong to Jesus Christ are "not of this world." We are as strangers in a strange land - that of late - has almost become even more unrecognizable than ever before - especially when compared to the original intentions of our Founding Fathers.

Father, they dedicated all that they did and accomplished to You. They gave you thanks and praise all through the good, the bad and the ugly things that they endured. It was You, in fact, against all odds and despite setbacks and dire circumstances led them in creating this great nation. They credited their ability to bring forth this free nation of the United States of America because of You and Who You Are. You are the great I AM. Without You, I am nothing. Without You, our nation is nothing. Without You, we can accomplish nothing good in this world.

I come before you today with a very heavy heart. I am on my knees, asking ever so fervently for Your intervention, if it be within your Will, to save our nation from the dire consequences that are to come because of disobedience, sin, evil, and the culture of death that is currently being promoted by an illegitimate POTUS and ungodly government.

Father God, I pray that you will show us the way to be released from this burden. I pray that whatever needs to be done, will be done to Your ultimate glory.

Israel Needs Prayer More Than Ever

I have often believed that Israel needs a strong leader again. They need a man like Benjamin Netanyahu. Each time I have heard him speak on the issues (during T.V. interviews on Fox News) that Israel faces on a daily basis, I have prayed that the people of Israel would see that he is the kind of leader they need and vote him back into office.

The terribly horrendous missile attacks being launched into Israel by Hamas terrorists reiterates the need for strong, decisive action and yes - retaliation. This requires a knowledgeable and strong leader like Netanyahu. We have seen the inaction and terrible land give-aways that Barak and Olmert have done over the years. IMO, their weak leadership has led to this current escalation of war.

Radical Islamic terrorists - no matter what their title name (e.g. Hamas) are bent on destroying Israel. They will never give up, never relent and never compromise their goals with any treaty of peace.

Just as the kamikaze Japanese pilots of WWII, they would rather die as suicide/homicide bombers than let the enemy live. The only recourse is to destroy them.

I know. Liberals tend to think that they can be "reasoned" with.

Somehow, I absolutely doubt that.

When a mind has been brain-washed in such an evil manner that the call of their radicalism of "death to Israel" is more important than life here on earth (for both the Jews and the individual radical muslim terrorist who cheers martyrdom for themselves); then there can be no form of negotiation that would work.

Joel Rosenberg's blog has a very informative post with several good links that will give you the details of this recent Hamas terrorist attack on Israel.

Rosenberg brings up Netanyahu in his essay:

This is a key message point of opposition leader Benjamin Netanyahu, who has been urging Olmert to launch an invasion and stop the violence immediately rather than merely repeat empty threats. “I do not know of a country that would be hit by this many missiles and not do anything,” Netanyahu said Wednesday. “We must stop being hit and attack in order to renew our deterrence capability and our national honor.” Netanyahu is currently leading in the polls in his own bid to be Prime Minister, in part because Israelis see him as stronger on defense than Livni and Barak. But should the current government launch an aggressive and effective assault on the Hamas terrorist infrastructure in Gaza, this could dramatically help Livni and Barak in the polls and cause Netanyahu to lose ground.

Rosenberg ends his post requesting prayer:

Please be praying for Israel’s current political and military leaders to have the wisdom and courage to the right thing to protect their citizens. Pray, too, that the Lord would raise of up more leaders in the Jewish State who will be like the “sons of Issachar” described in I Chronicles 12:32, men who “understood the times and knew what Israel should do.” Pray for the Israeli families who are suffering in many ways due to the relentless barrage of rocket fire from Gaza. Meanwhile, please pray for Palestinian leaders to effectively confront the Hamas radicals and shut down their terrorist operations. Please pray for all the Palestinian families who are victims of both war and terrorism. And please don’t forget to pray faithfully and consistently for evangelical Christians on both sides of the border and around the world to know how best to help Israelis and Palestinians who are caught in the crossfire and suffering as a result.

Update: Israel Retaliates

Barak says there is a time for calm and a time for fighting. Speaking at a news conference Saturday, he said "now is the time for fighting" and that "the operation will expand as necessary."

Intercessory Prayer

I was up late last night. Thus, I found myself waking up later than usual this morning. The main reason for this is because I awoke at 4:30 a.m. (3:30 a.m. with the time change! Yikes!) the morning before.

Last evening, once I laid down on the couch with our puggle to watch T.V., it wasn't long before I had fallen asleep. It was only 7:00 p.m.! Ha!

My son came home from work at 8:00 p.m. and gave me a kiss on the cheek. He probably wondered how I could have fallen asleep so early in the evening. After he enjoyed the dinner I had previously prepared, he came in to play with the dog. He was exhausted. That young man works hard at his job. Long hours some days.

I fell asleep again. Found myself waking at midnight. Decided to go on the computer for an hour. I read some email, and transferred some of my blogposts over to my discussion forum. This way, I have a record of all the posts in case Blogger ever boots me off the site.

This morning, my husband and I awoke at different times. He was up by 6, and I awoke at 7:30. He was marking his ballot booklet and planned on heading to the polls before work.

We live in a rural area, so the polls are set up in a neighbor's garage. We are quite fortunate. I can't remember ever having to wait in line to vote. I have heard about the long hours of waiting to vote in the urban and city areas. I give them a lot of credit for standing in line all those hours to do their civic duty.

It is raining outside. It is the first rain in our area in months. When it rains here, I see it as a kind of gentle cleansing of our area. However, since people in CA do not regularly do not drive in the rain, many fender benders are quite likely to occur.

It's probably not biblical, but I sometimes imagine that when rain occurs on special or significant days - it contains a lot of symbolism. It can be one of joy, blessings, and longevity (as has been the case for our marriage - it rained on our wedding day and we recently celebrated our 25th anniversary!) or, it can be a symbol of mourning. According to the way this election goes, one side or the other will most likely mourn that their candidate has lost the election.

I searched for an umbrella for my husband to use as he left the house. Next, I made coffee. I was wondering what to write about today. First, I decided to mark my ballot booklet so that I will be fully prepared when I go out to vote.

I didn't turn the T.V. on, like I usually do. Instead, I turned on my computer and read some email. I was drawn to two articles and thought maybe I'd write about them. Instead, I will just link them (below).

After reading one of the links, I found an additional link to a website that contains an intercessory prayer. I thought THAT is what I want to emphasize today!

Some may think it a coincidence, but I do believe that the Lord guides me towards what He wants me to post here at TalkWisdom. This election has taken me away from my usual objectives here. However, with one more day to go I feel that now I can get back on track.

I am looking forward to sharing many new posts from several of the books that I have been reading!

So, dear readers, PRAY and then go out and do your civic duty and VOTE!

Intercessory Prayer Initiative

PRAYER ALERT – 10/30/2008

Dear Prayer Warriors:

We feel that the most crucial area needing prayer right now is our nation and the upcoming elections. In the final days of this election season, we must pray that the American people will have God's wisdom as they cast votes.

Prayer Points

Pray that the enemy's deceptive powers over the American people will be broken.
Pray for the exposure and reporting of fraud and evil agendas prior to the election.
Pray, "Lord, cause Your wisdom to infect American voters."
As Dutch Sheets shared in a recent letter, "The vote we cast on November 4th will do more to shape the culture we give our children and grandchildren than any other vote in our lifetime!" This is because the next president will be able to appoint at least 2, maybe 3 Supreme Court Justices. This can shape the court for 30-40 years or the next generation.

Prayer Points

Pray for God's will to be done in this election.
Pray that God will give you His prayer strategy.
Pray that the Court will shift to righteousness.
We have heard prophetically that October 31, 2008 is a pivotal day for our nation. The Lord spoke to Cindy Jacobs from Generals of Intercession concerning the need to pray in New York City for the nation and the economy. She and a group of intercessors have been praying since October 29th and are calling for serious prayer through November 2. Many are joining them in fasting and praying, especially on October 31. Traditionally, this day known as Halloween is a time of heightened demonic activity as evil is celebrated in many circles. The Church must take its authority and stand to break demonic strongholds and decree what God says.

Prayer Points

Pray that the Church will stand in Apostolic authority as Paul did in Acts 12, and decree a that God will bring a shift to righteousness in the nation.
Pray that the demonic influences trying to silence the Church would be silenced as Herod was in Acts 12, and that God's purposes would be fulfilled.
Pray without ceasing to see the glory of God suddenly revealed in these days.
Years ago a prophetic word was given saying that the spirit of socialism and the spirit of Islam would attempt to get a stronghold in America in the future. The prophet this came through called this week and the Holy Spirit impressed him that they are knocking at the door of our nation right now. The future is here. Powers of darkness have been unleashed as never before in an effort to subdue America in this season, but if the Church fasts and prays God has promised to intervene. 2 Chron. 2:14

Prayer Points

Pray that a spirit of repentance would come upon the Church and the nation.
Pray that God would uncover and bring judgment to the spirit of socialism and the spirit of Islam that are trying to take over the nation.
Pray that God would release warring angels in answer to the cries of His people and cause a shift back to righteousness in the nation
