Women in Entertainment: Why? (Blog)

Yes, why? Why is the media now in the practice of glorifying the women that they do? Let me break down the types and, maybe you can come up with an answer because, I just don't get it...

#1- The 'Real' Housewife: This type of woman is usually living off of the earnings her mate makes, heavily sedating herself on mimosas, expensive salads, and drama-filled gossip. Oftentimes, she isn't married...

#2- The Basketball Wife: See Real Housewife, only in Miami.

#3- The Football Wife: The only one that remains faithful to a man with no guarantee of healthcare after work but, still won't offer to get a job to raise the 6 kids they've made...

#4- The Rock Star Wife: Another one that stays married to her mate but also a live-in enabler. Allowing said rock star to pop pills instead of popping tarts, all while asking the doc to make her lips and boobs larger. Because, yea, that will keep him...

And new to the Posse,

#5- The Hip Hop Wife: Although this show hasn't come out yet, according to this link, it is. After reading who the cast is, The 'wife' is gonna be a carbon copy of the basketball 'wife' (see defintion #2)

I just don't get it! Where is the entertainment in seeing women hate, snake, and be catty? Clearly we fight daily to prove that this is false. Why do we want to see woman who can afford the luxuries of plastic surgery, $3,000 weaves and shoes with names us 'average' women cant pronounce?!?

If these shows don't perpetuate a horrible lie that women want to rid themselves of, I don't know what else does. The fact that there is a new show with the same format every season bothers me. The fact that they always find women to star in it bothers me more. Are we really this way? I mean, damn!! How big are the checks that Viacom is giving out?!

Or, are we more like the women how work everyday to reach their goal of graduating Nursing school, receiving their hair license, or a PROUD mother taking care of her family while her man fights a war. Even better, women in entertainment with enough common sense to know that putting your private life out there is not worth ANY amount of dough (see Michelle Obama, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jada Pinkett Smith and Madonna) Those are just a FEW examples. There's more!

Even more of a possibility: We come up with a show that showcases success instead of dramas. Trust me, women DO get along and CAN work together! We're NOT always saying how bad our men are, but shop on his dime. We don't always push him away and get bitter when he dates another race. We are not monsters by trade, we're human.
