A Socially Looser Arab Miss U.S.A.?

I added the following to my last post:

Read through the post and comment thread over at Gateway Pundit to see how political the Miss U.S.A. pageant remains to be. Last year, the "political correctness" onslaught began with the rejection of Carrie Prejean's answer that marriage is the union of one man and one woman. This year, Miss Oklahoma supported the Arizona illegal immigrant law (although she adeptly added that she is against racial profiling which the law prohibits as well) through agreeing that STATES RIGHTS should determine such hotbed issues. Because of her answer, she got second place.

Does anyone recall the question that Miss Michigan got?

It does appear to be a setup.

I wonder.

Do the judges have several questions at their disposal and then pick one according to who draws their name? Would that same judge have asked Miss Michigan a politically volatile question like what does she think about a Muslim Mosque being built at the 9/11/2001 World Trade Center terrorist attack area despite millions of AMERICAN people protesting such a structure being built because it is an insult to "celebrate" the religion of Islam that was the reason for the destruction in the first place?

I don't think so...

Thanks to the links on my sidebar, I found the answer to my question.

Excerpt:

After the Carrie Prejean fiasco of last year is anyone surprised some pinhead judge brought up Arizona's new immigration law? Knock me over with a feather. Here's Miss Oklahoma saying she supports states' rights but playing both side of the border fence by saying she's against profiling, which, of course, the new law prohibits even though opponents who haven't read the law insists it does. I suspect this judge hasn't read the law.

So naturally Miss Oklahoma lost to Miss Michigan, who tripped over her gown and who couldn't answer a simple question. But since she's of Arab descent, we have to give her the award, of course.

Michelle Malkin reveals her as A Gaffetastic New Miss U.S.A..

Excerpt:

She nearly tripped over her gown.

She called birth control a “controlled substance.”

She argued that contraceptives should be covered by health insurers because they are “expensive” — and then said you could get them for “free” from your OB/GYN’s office.

Imagine if those words had come out of the mouth of Carrie Prejean or Sarah Palin.

Between the NYTimes, MSNBC, Jon Stewart, and the late night talkers, we wouldn’t hear the end of it.

Does this woman know what a “controlled substance” is?

More importantly: Does she even comprehend the concept of insurance? The purpose of insurance isn’t to cover every last medical expense. It’s supposed to cover events that are beyond your control. Should auto insurers now cover oil changes and satellite radio installations? I mean, hey, they’re “expensive,” too!

Fakih’s cheerleaders are too busy tooting the identity politics horn to care what comes out of her mouth.

But then we have this!

JammieWearingFool: New Miss U.S.A. Rima Fakih Working the Pole.

Excerpt:

Miss USA 2010 Rima Fakih was a contestant in a stripping contest sponsored by a Detroit radio station, MyFOXDC.com is reporting.

Fakih appears in several photos on Mojointhemorning.com, a morning show on Detroit's Channel 955.

[T]he judges were strippers, and awarded Fakih first prize. The prizes included jewelry, gift cards, adult toys and a stripper pole for home use, according to the website.

Well....isn't THAT SPECIAL??

Many are questioning why a Muslim woman could get away with wearing a bikini and pole dance in a strip club. This commenter (at Malkin's site) explains:

Lebanon tends to be socially looser than other Arab countries. That is one reason our diplomacy tries to keep it out of Syrian clutches.

YouTube videos confirm that most Lebanese women do not wear burqas and tend to be voluptuous and proud of it. They also know Jack Shi’ite.
