GLAAD Addresses Lil B's New Album

It has been a very busy time for West Coast rapper Lil B who came under fire last week over his new, unreleased album. Now, the 20 year old rapper is being monitored by LGBT organization GLAAD. The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation has spoken out about Lil B’s plans to title his upcoming album I’m Gay.

Although Lil B claims that he is working to “bring down the barriers in society”, the organization appears to be extremely skeptical of his motives.

A spokesperson for the organization stated, “As a lyricist, Lil B knows that words matter. Slurs have the power to fuel intolerance. We hope that Lil B’s album title is not just a gimmick, and is really a sincere attempt to be an ally. He has the platform and the voice. We hope he uses it in a positive way.”

GLAAD is a non-profit organization working to promote acceptance and positive images of the Lesbian, Bisexual, Gay and Transsexual community.

Despite the backlash, Lil B seems completely focused on his new project claiming his new album will “change the world”.

In a statement the bold, young rapper vowed, “I wanna say this is gonna change the world. It’s gonna make the world think. It’s bigger than me, and the message is gonna keep people talking. I’m Gay will be the most powerful album to ever come out. It’s gonna change people’s lives, and I promise that from my heart. The words have elevated the way people address me. It’s amazing. You have your radicals, but in general, people are viewing me with a whole different stature. It’s way more respect.”

The rumors surrounding the rapper’s sexuality still rage on as fans and celebrities alike, continue to debate over the matter.

No release date for the album has been set yet.
