Men Pose As Drake's Managers, Book Fake Concert Dates

A Pennsylvania theater was swindled by men posing as Drake’s manager and tour manager, and apparently another man, who claimed to be the rapper himself.

Richard Berkowitz, the President of Sherman Theater in Stroudsburg, says that he thought the theater had scheduled two shows featuring the Young Money rapper in May. But it appears that they and a promoter by the name of Virginia Farrow-Williams were victims of an elaborate scheme. He didn’t begin to get suspicious however until after the Virginia-based booking agency, claiming to represent the Canadian MC, begin to ask for a cut of the ticket sales.

The sold-out bogus shows have since been cancelled and Berkowitz says that the theater will provide would-be concert goers with refunds.

“Unfortunately, this show was indeed a false booking by outside parties who misrepresented Drake and his management,” said Drake’s publicist, Sarah Cunningham in a statement. “The Sherman Theater acted responsibly in canceling the show and we are thankful for their swift action and attention to the matter.”

The Sherman announced Monday that “Drake’s agent hopes that a legitimate show can be brought to the region soon and is deeply saddened that their client continues to be the victim of unscrupulous people.”
