Kid Cudi has been making some changes in his career as of late. He cut ties with his former business partners and their label in February, and more recently announced that he's changing the name of his new band.
As the G.O.O.D. music rapper prepares the release of his rock-influenced third album Wizard, Cudi told the crowd during his performance in New York City on Thursday (April 21) that his band, previously revealed as Wizard, will now be called 2 Be Continuum.
"I needed something more original, something different, but it's still wizardry at its finest," he told MTV's RapFix about the change. "It's science. Basically it's just me and Dot, we been really working hard on this project. I'm really f***ing excited for y'all to hear it too. It's incredible!"
In addition to the band name change, he also revealed that his new imprint is Wicked Awesome Records. He is still signed to Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Music, though.
Cudi went on to say that the new music he and producer Dot da Genius have been working on will be "epic, epic."
"I've only been playing guitar for nine months, but the records have been coming out f***ing epic, epic, I'm really excited," Cudi explained. "We gonna have that first single for y'all soon. This summer."
Cudi's upcoming Wizard album is due out sometime this year.
